The disney rep said that free dining is going on. Anyone know how long?

We haven't been in a few yrs, pre magic bands days. Will we be able to get any fast passes or anything so late in the game? Want to go first wk of August

Not sure about free dining.

But yes, you'll still be able to find good fast passes for August. I usually don't plan my trips til 3 weeks out. I'm a solo traveler so I don't have trouble finding single fast pass reservations.

oh boo! that's not what he said. He said it's almost over, and I commented that there used to never be free dining in the summer. ACK! it's the BOOKING that's almost over & free dining hasn't started yet.
I just knew it was too good to be true. :(

Well, now on to looking off property since there's no real perks being on property @ the moment

First week of August can get you 20% off a moderate hotel on property. Better then free dining which really isn't free anyway.

If you're going solo or maybe with 2 people then yes, the $50-$60 discount is nice. 2 or more usually much better FD, don't think you'll have much luck feeding even 2 people for $50 a day in the park. An ADR for 1 person for 1 meal can push $50.

I'm doing a short trip in October and before making the reservation I had gone through the numbers. For two adults at a moderate resort and free dining on a 3 night trip cost $400 more then just taking a room discount. $400 doesn't sound too free. I'd rather pay out of pocket for food and come in under that number.
