Thinking of going the night before because of airfare!

We are thinking of traveling to WDW the night before our scheduled arrival date. The air fares are so high for a morning flight out of Hartford and we don't want to lose a day at WDW. If we take an evening flight the night before it is $100.00 cheaper pp for the flight, there are six of us so that adds up! Delta flights....can't believe SWA is more!!

Looking for a cheap hotel to stay for the one night and just noticed on this board Buena Vista Suites. We wouldn't be able to stay at POR, where we will be for our trip, only because other family members are joining us so we got connecting rooms so one of our children can sleep with them.

Sorry for the long story! Anyone know if Buena Vista Suites are any good. Looks like it would on cost about 100.00 for the night and includes full breakfast and can accomodate all six of us!!

I have family driving to Disney so they could get us from this hotel and bring us all to POR.

What do you all think??

Thanks everyone!!!!

Are you renting a car? If you were planning on using ME, you won't be able to get to Buena Vista Suites and then to POR the next day without the expense of either a rental car, cab, towncar.

If your plans were to take ME, I would find and inexpensive hotel near the airport that offers free shuttle. Shuttle to the hotel and back to the airport the next morning. Give ME a morning flight, arrive at the airport at that time, head to ME and travel to POR

GOOD LUCK!

We are too! We just changed our morning flight from Baltimore to an evening flight from Phila. (w/ SW) and saved $300.

I hope traveling with 3 kids late is the right decision.

I am looking for a nice airport hotel. We are planning on renting a car anyway.
:goodvibes

we are doing this too. Staying at the POP so we can use ME. 73.80 with tax for AAA rate. Still cheaper than paying for hotel and renting car and disney will move my luggage the next morning to the Poly.

Wow!! Thank you for all the links to the reviews! It looks like most people say it is fine, especially if we are just staying one night! Then off to Disney property!!!

You all give the best info!!

One time when I went with 2 friends, we got a great deal on airfare going the night before. We had already rented a car from National for noon the next day and the rate would have gone way up if we changed it to the night before. So we found an airport hotel for like $74 with free airport transportation. We flew down after work, got there late, took the shuttle to the hotel, then back to the airport in the morning, picked up the car (they allowed us to get it at 8:00am). We checked into CSR around 8:30am, a room was even ready.

We just did the same thing. I saved over $1000 for 8 of us! We are adding a night at Pop Century then in the morning we are going to check out of Pop and into the Polynesian.

Disney will transfer our luggage. We plan on packing an overnight bag as our carry on with small toiletries and a change of clothes for each of us. Then we'll get a FULL day at the MK instead of waking up at the crack of dawn to be at the airport for our (old) 6:40am flight. It is going to be MUCH better this way - IMHO, anyway.

We've done this lots of times. I've found its usually cheaper to fly on a Friday night than a Saturday morning for most flights. There are six of us too so it adds up quick when you can save $100/pp or more.

Did it in November. Saved a ton of $$ on airfare and got a $35 3-star airport hotel off of Priceline (Wingate - and it had a free breakfast, AND due to overbooking upgraded us to a suite).

Well worth it and the next morning you can get right to the parks!

Good luck!!!

Almost exactly what we're doing in April. Coming in late the night beforem, around 10:30. We booked a room at Pop Century. Same rate, ~$100 per night, but this way we don't have to move our luggage between hotels. In fact we'll have a days change in our travel bags, so when our luggage arrives at POP by DME, we'll have them hold it at the bellman's stand, then just transfer it to the Wilderness Lodge the next day. Keeps us from toting around the bags.

We are doing the same thing with flying in. We originally had POR booked for Sat to Sat stay. After finding much better airfare for a late Friday flight, we switched. We added on 1 more day at POR, 1 more park day, and 1 more DDP day. In the end, we only had to pay $46 out of pocket more than it would have cost to fly in on a Saturday!

Are you a family of more than 5? I realize that you wanted connecting room with your family, but POR does sleep 5 with a trundle. It may be worth it...

We are a family of 6. I would rather just go to POR but we won't fit. We can only stay there because we have other family joining us, so my sister and her husband are graciously letting my 12 year old sleep in their room!
It makes things more complicated that we can't just go to POR that night. So, I am trying to figure all this out. Someone mentioned that some hotels do free transportation from the airport to the hotel, I think just the airport hotels?? I would rather be at one near Disney World, so when my family arrives they can pick us up closer to WDW and not have to drive near the airport. All the rest of my family is driving from Connecticut to Orlando.
We did not want to try that with our 4 children!!!!! Plus we don't have a car that is good enough to make the trip!

Any other thoughts please pass them along!!!!! Thank you!

Hmm...maybe 2 rooms at a value resort for the first night so you can utilize DME. I believe Disney will even transport your luggage to POR the next day.

I did think of that, but I think it would be a couple hundred dollars for two rooms??? Any discounts out there for value resorts in late June???

We are going with a big group as our dance studio is performing at the Magic Kingdom. So I think we are getting a good price at POR. If I booked two rooms at AAA price on our own for the night we arrive without the group at a value resort, I wonder what the price would be at the end of June.
I will check that out.

Thank you!
