Thinking of adding on, is AKL available for add on

I haven't fooled with my DVC in almost 5 years because we were put on a job transfer in Orlando. I've got 2 kids under 3 who decided today is the day to scream their heads off so sitting on the phone with my DVC rep isn't an option. We own at AKL, is it sold out or am I able to still add on there?

Do I even want to know the current prices?! I'm scared.

AKV is $155/point direct, and it's sold out. Take a look at the resale market.

AKV might be available direct (nothing is ever *really* "sold out"), but i agree resale is a much less expensive option.

If it is "sold out" it just means you go on a waiting list and they call you when they get points back (through ROFR or defaulting on loan/MF) but unless you want a small # of points it would save you a ton to buy resale

If I buy a small resale option, will I be able to use all of my points at once? Assuming that it is at jambo house in april UY? (my current contracts are the same UY and place.)

Yes same UY with the contract names the same will be added to your existing membership. You will see new contract just like you see your existing.

Remember that resale contracts can only be used for DVC and RCI reservations, no big deal since that is what you want it for.

I am so out of the loop! I need to hire a babysitter and go to a library to sit down and talk to a rep... because what else would they be used for? (that they can't be used for??)

I'm in no big hurry to add on and man the resale prices are NICE. I saw a couple contracts that were small and pending so maybe I will just keep an eye on the resale market.

Have you spent any time visiting the member website? All of the options are listed there, other non-Disney resorts, Adventures By Disney, Disney Cruise Line.

Using points for the "other" things is very expensive, you are better off paying cash and renting out your points.

As was mentioned all resorts are available to purchase direct but you might have to go on a waitlist if they don't have your UY or amount of points available right away. For resale points, any members who purchase on the resale market now will not be able to use those vacation points to make reservations for the Concierge Collection or Disney Collection. If you only use your points for DVC resorts (which is BY FAR the best value) then it isn't a concern. Any resale purchases can also still be used for the World Collection which includes BVTC and RCI.

You usually have to be pretty quick to pick up small contracts on the resale market. One thing is there is such a price difference that you could pick up a larger contract resale if you think you could use more points and still pay the same purchase price as a small direct since the prices are so high that way. When buying resale to keep things under one master contract you need to purchase the same UY and have the deed titled exactly the same way your existing contract is titled.

Thanks guys!

And now I'm following, I wouldn't do any adventures or cruises and the such anyway. I'm thinking maybe it would be better to pick up a larger contract resale in my use year now that I read that.

OH - and all you need is an AKV contract - it doesn't matter if the unit you got your points from was Jambo or Kidani as they both fall under the AKV resort umbrella.

The wait list is about a week...well, it was for us.We chose not to buy there as we are going to wait and add on to VGC as that is where all our points are now. But, of course, it depends on #points and use year. But, the wait is very short.
