Here's the thing. I will be traveling in April to WDW and staying on Disney grounds with myself, DH, DD (8) and DD (2). I am worried that if one of my kids gets sick with an ear infection (I pray to God, not) before the trip what kind of insurance would cover that? Anybody have any experience with this? I know that Disney gives you up to 5 days before the trip to cancel, but being a worry wart, i can't help worry about something happening like closer to your trip date (God forbid!)

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks.

get the insurance! if they show signs of an infection before you leave take them to you pediatrician and if they need the meds get them, if the ped does'nt see a sign of infection then the trip insurance should cover it if it appears on vacation (just make sure the ped documents in the case record that 'no sign of ear infection seen'-that way when the trip insurance asks for the med records they can't claim it was a preexisting condition). some peds (not ours) will go ahead and give you a perscription which you can fill, but instruct the pharmacist not to put the water into-then you can add the water if the perscription is needed).

my kids both got raging ear infections the first time we flew to wdw-had i not had trip insurance i would have had to have paid $199 EACH for their exams and the full cost of the perscriptions (my health insurance does not cover care unless it is 'life threatening' out of state).

If you are flying, I would think about getting in.

If you bought a package, I would think about getting it.

My main factor in getting trip insurance is if I had to cancel the trip, which would be cheaper. If I had a room only reservation and no plane tickets I wouldn't bother with the insurance.

If I had non refundable airline tickets and a package with a cancellation fee, the insurance is usually cheaper than the fees would be. We had family members who are in poor health, plus we went during hurrican season, plus we bought a package, so we got insurance this trip. I used the link from mousesavers and it was much cheaper and offered better coverage than disney offered.
