Thinking about switching to Old Key West

We requested and got egg crate foam pads a couple years ago. Just call housekeeping. Our bed this past January at OKW did not seem hard. It may depend on when the mattress was last replaced.

We own at SSR but have stayed at OKW last Oct. We liked both resort's however, we didn't care for the beds at OKW. They were very HARD and noisy.

As I said.... We liked both resorts, we just found the beds to be quite hard at OKW. Some people need to know this, if they have health issues. I was told that OKW is in the process of replacing all the mattresses though. We probably got one on the grand villas that this had not been done to yet. Maybe a person could ask about this when making a reservation. Just wanted to clarify this to everyone. I am not a slammer of resorts. Just telling you all about what I have experienced. Have a great Easter everyone !

Rule one of the DIS.... complaints are posted a LOT more then normal stays. Upgrades are posted a lot more then normal stays. So if you read the DIS all rooms are dirty and when you stay at a resort you will get upgraded LOL!

Now IMHO the big risk is that since you bought for "more room" when you see OKW you will never again be satisified with any other DVC. Talk about "more room" they are HUGE.

Okay, now I'm really getting excited!!! We are staying in a 1 bedroom at OKW for the first time. We leave Thurs and all this talk about how big the rooms are is getting me sooooo excited!!! Can't wait to be there!

The first time I walked into a 1 bedroom at OKW I counted the windows. We were used to All-Stars and moderate stays. I was amazed by the windows and the huge dining table, not only great for meals, but family card playing.

So we stayed in a 1 bedroom and the pixie dust was so very strong, we added on points to have enough for a 2 bedroom. Enjoy!

We loved the king mattress at OKW so much, very quiet, did not wake each

other up during the night. In fact, we came home and bought a new one for

us! We will be checking in on Sunday---can not wait. Honi

we will be there

Wow, I just keep reading all of these responses and it makes me very happy I am doing the split stay! I love it when I make a decsion and just know it was the right one! Thanks again everyone.

Amy

Oh no! I hate hard beds! And I am just getting over shoulder surgery. Does anyone know if there is any possibility of requesting a mattress pad (like one of those foam egg crate pads)? That would be a life saver for me.

Oh, I'm sure Disney would do something for you. Just ask at the front desk.....they practically bend over backwards for you:dance3:

We stayed in Old Key West several years ago in a one bedroom villa. We loved the resort! The grounds were gorgeous and very well-kept. The villa was quite spacious and had been recently refurbished so everything was spotless. We took the boat to Downtown Disney and our children loved the playground and pool. We have a bid on an OKW DVC contract that is in the ROFR process right now! Keeping our fingers crossed! :yay: If we get it, we plan to go back in January 08 but in a 2 bedroom villa!
