Thinking about a Christmas trip... Ridiculous?

OK, I've finally gotten the OK time-wise for taking the time between Christmas and New Years for a trip.

We'd be there the 26th and 31st. I called this afternoon - the CM said there was one room available at the BC on the club level for about $4800 per night. Needless to say, I didn't jump on the reservation. I've spent some time looking at off-site hotels but you know, I'm just not thrilled with the idea.

So, is there anyone with experience with booking a holiday trip at this late date? I'd really like to stay on site. I know it will be crowded and the prospect of packed parking lots, etc. doesn't do much for me. I mostly want to go to get out of the frozen dark north and hangout in a happy place.

We've got snow and ice coming tonight, Tuesday night and then again on Thursday. Yeah.

Thanks for any help or advice!

Just keep trying - people are bound to cancel. Maybe call a travel agent and see what they can do for you.

Thanks! My plan is to keep calling at 7 am every morning. If nothing else, they'll get sick of me calling and just give me a room to make me stop calling. :)

A few days ago the AAA website had some availability. I think it was BC and CBR. BC had standard rooms, but way too high, over $400. CBR was $225 as I recall. Give the Swan and Dolphin a holler, 888-828-8850. Good luck.

Just keep calling. Doesn't necessarily have to be @ 7 a.m....we hemmed and hawed until my son finally convinced my husband that trip with the CA in-laws to WDW would be a great idea starting Dec. 25th.

I had been watching online and not seeing any availability anywhere. My sis-in-law sent me a note that she had seen BC/YC coming up. I got on the www.waltdisneyworld.com website and BC showed availability. By the time I had CRO on the line, he booked one of the available rooms, but a second had become non-existent. He checked YC and got us two rooms there.

My opinion is that it changes minute by minute. Keep trying; I think you'll easily find what you're looking for as long as it's not a moderate or a value, lol!!

We'll be there through New Year's, too...I'm just pretty sure I need a shrink for even THINKING of doing this. I am NOT a crowds person....but the kids will have a blast spending a week with their cousins (all teens/twenties).

Happy Holidays!!

I would suggest calling an agent. They can do a lot of calling for you and let you know when they find something. To me, it would be worth it to not deal with the stress of calling all the time.

Did I read that right? $4,800 per Night? Are you buying the room for life? WOW! I hope you find what you are looking for. I'm not a crowds person either. We too are expecting more snow Tuesday and Thursday on top of what we already have. We also have had sub-zero temperatures without wind chills so I understand the desire to be in WDW even if there are crowds. Happy Resort Hunting to you.

Nope! My bad! It's $4809 for 5 nights! Still outrageous.

I called this morning twice - 7 AM yielded nothing but the same ridiculously priced room. I called around 10:30 and was able to get CBR for 4 of those nights. I nearly got POR for the entire 5 nights but that just evaporated. At the moment, we'll just stay at a cheapie hotel the first night as we'll be pretty tired from driving.

So - there is hope!

Wow, that is still really, really high! Have a wonderful trip! :goodvibes

Have you considered a villa off site. Many people like Windsor Hills they have town houses, condo, & villas. It is very close to WDW. There are so many villa all over I'm sure you can find something. I love staying at a villa lot of room and pvt. pool.

Good Luck!
