thinkin about DVC what is the minimum for a resale buy?

As the title states, we are looking at a DVC resale purchase. There are many that are avaliable at lower point levels. I know that with Disney they require a minimum purchase of approx. 150 points, right?

The resale boards have sales for as little as 50 points, we are looking at something in the range of 100 points, plenty for us. One trip every other year or so.

Is it this possible or does one need to buy that Disney minimum before buying the smaller blocks of points?

If you buy thru Disney, your first purchase has to be 150 points or more. If you buy thru resale, you can pick up "add-on" contracts that are less.

Just be aware that those small contracts usually sell fast, and a lot of them may not even make a broker's website. If you really want to start that small, you better contact a resale agent and let them know what you want so they can let you know before they offer it on their website.

You can buy the smallest you can find. I bought a 70 pt OKW contract first. But, be aware that the smaller the contract you buy, the more you are paying per point because you will be paying for closing and that is not going to vary greatly so your price per point goes up the smaller the contract.

You may be able to get a resale with banked points, with the maintainence already paid. We did, and it more than offset the closing costs we paid for the resale.

We just have a 50 pt VWL contract with 2002 points offsetting the closing costs. I have seen a couple 30 point resales and I guess they sold but that starts to get expensive with closing even with banked points.

We are in the "ROFR" period right now for our first DVC purchase, a re-sale of 100 points at BCV. So no, you don't first have to buy 150 points through Disney. (fingers are crossed, toes are crossed, we only just sent the check last week)
