Think we are really going! A few questions...

Hi everyone!

So, I booked May 3-12 2012, tentatively for DL.
I say "tentatively", because we are DVC, and just booked at Bay lake tower, with the hopes of switching over to Grand Californian at our 7 month mark...

Here are my questions/concerns...

Is the time I picked a good one? I did some research and it seems like weatherwise, and crowd wise it is good....my other option was late september/early october, but it looks like more refurbs happen then Please correct me if I'm wrong..

Also, we would like to combine San Diego with this trip ,as we have never been...

I am thinking 5 nights in Anaheim, 4 nights in SD. We are planning on visiting Sea World, Universal and San diego zoo.....

Well, right off the top of my head, I'm thinking you will probably just miss the opening of Carsland. They haven't announced a month yet, but many are guessing they would like to be done by June, but actually we don't know. There may be soft openings, but that seems unlikely that early in May. If this is a one time only trip, you might want to consider the fall. The weather is nice then too.

Also in the fall, the HM turns into HMH with Nightmare Before Christmas decorations. I forget the exact date that goes up but someone else will know that here. That might be something else to see that they don't have at WDW.

I would pick September/October just for the fact that Carsland will be opened.

San Diego is also very fun. My family LOVES Seaworld. Universal is closer to Anaheim though.

Well, last November we went mid month and wore jeans and a short sleeve shirt and were just right. Early Oct, you might still need shorts, but just depends. Good to be ready for anything. I don't expect cold like in the 50's all day. That would surprise me. However, up here we have only been in the 60's this month and rainy. So weather doesn't seem to be doing its normal thing right now.

If you do change to fall, make sure you check when HMH is open.

May Very low crowds=better chance to get a hotel room. Pleasant weather. A month for rehabs between Spring break and Memorial Day Weekend.

Late September early October Low to moderate crowds with an exception. Halloween Season, the parties will be crazy busy and bring more traffic into the park that day. Pleasant and possibly hot weather. Unlikely time for rehabs.


May might be the time to go unless you want Halloween season, and there are good reasons to go during Halloween. But Carsland will be a big question mark probably when you book your visit.

October, sure thing for Carsland, tiny chance of rehabs. Halloween decorations and ride overlays for HM and Space. More crowds to deal with.
