Think there is any flexibility with party size on dining reservations?

I've got a few reservations I made awhile back and there's another person that might be able to join our party that day... anyone have any idea if we can squeeze another person in on any (or all) of the following dining reservations?

Cafe Orleans Lunch - Reservation is for a party of 5

Blue Bayou Dinner - Reservation is for a party of 5

Lamplight Lounge Dinner - Reservation is for a party of 5 (this is at 4:30pm and is on a Halloween Party night, I have enough event tickets for everyone)

Think any or all of those could squeeze it so it's a party of six instead of five?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe when you check in via the app, you indicate how many are in your party and you will be able to increase the reservation size by one guest. From a practical standpoint, I'd assume most tables that can seat 5 could accommodate a sixth fairly easily.

That’s what I was thinking, except I was wondering if they also balance how busy the kitchen/staff are and if everyone did a +1 maybe that would overload things so instead they’re just a hard and fast “no”?

If anyone is dining at those locations sometime soon, mind asking if someone had a reservation for five but had a sixth join their group if the server/host thought they would be able to accommodate… ?

You’re not going to have any issues with this. You check-in through the app and tell them how many are in your party. The app is not going to stop you from checking in if you add more people. They do not assign you a table until you check-in. When you check-in, they will assign you a table based on the party size you check-in with. I’d guess it’s more common to check-in with less people on the reservation rather than more.

It could be an issue with more, it will not be with less. I would call Disney dining.

There is no longer a Disney dining line. I have added and subtracted people from a dining reservation many times. It has never been an issue.
Just at check in, right? There’s no way to do that once you have a reservation but before checking in correct?

You can only adjust a reservation you have before check-in by “modifying” it. This is next to impossible for popular table service restaurants. When you check-in through the app, it asks how many people will be seated, how many high chairs or if you’re bringing in a stroller, and allergies. They don’t assign tables until people check-in, so there isn’t going to be an issue where they’ve already assigned a smaller table to you and then have to change it to a larger one.

So typically if you have an odd number you "should" be good as most tables are set for even numbers...2, 4, 6...so on...so a party of 5 would be sat at a 6 top. Adding one is often possible, but not any more. There are no guarantees but if unable to modify online best bet is to stop by restaurant morning of reservation and see fit they can add the one guest.

As said above, you can always modify the reservation in the app any time ahead of the date. It may not be available to change the party size, but you can try to modify the party size in the app. The day-of, you can try to add the person at check in but it might not be available either. Safest thing is to modify the party size in the app ahead of time, if it is available.

Didn't realize until earlier today that you can modify the reservation in the app. Ironically what I thought the hardest would be (Oga's) I was easily able to bump up to 6 people. Café Orleans, Blue Bayou, and Lamplight say no availability for six. Guess I'll be checking them like a hawk from now till October. I'm also going to be there a couple days before everyone else shows up so I'll talk to the hosts at the restaurants and see if they can change it or if they think it'll be possible to accommodate one extra.

If it really comes down to it I'll just skip out dinner with the group and split into 2 parties since this additional person is my friend and doesn't know the rest of the group. Only hard thing there is I'm the one holding all the reservations and I can't snag backup reservations for a party of 2 very close to the existing reservations I have...
