Just curious if you're of the opinion that many families will now be compelled to cruise with DCL after the last two weeks episodes of According To Jim?

Doubt it. There just wasn't much of DCL really shown.. just a tiny snippet here or there. I hope they don't think things like the waitstaff at Palo will chunk bread at you if you request it from across the room (LOL)
And if they do book because of this show... I hope they don't expect bunks like in the show.....

The view at the end from the Castaway Cay shores/"Head's Up" Bar was enought for me to be glad that I re-booked.
However, if I had never been on DCL, the show was not enough to make me stalk my travel agent.

I have to admit, I was very disappointed.

I'm not much of an "According to Jim" fan anyway, and I was getting very annoyed w/the bar scene, when he kept lousing up the commercial. Too familiar. It reminds me of when Lucy tried to louse up Ricky's screen test.

I was hoping that they'd show more of DCL, but I guess the cruise was not the priority, the script was.

Ah well. Now I'll go back to doing what I usually do at that time on Tuesday nights..reading these boards!:D

I think it's all about exposure. The more you get your product out there, the more people will think about it. There are plenty of people who don't even know DCL exists.

The show itself may not be enough to make people want to run out to their TAs (except us DCL junkies:hyper: ) but it introduced DCL to a whole lot of people who would never have thought to look into it before.

I to am disappointed in the show it did not show the magic of doing a disney cruise. I would not hunt down a travel agent either to book even the carnival commercials showed more spunk than the show and I dislike carnival immensly.

What category room were they supposed to be in anyways? I didn't like the ship horn that they played at the end of the show - it was weak.

I have not been on a cruise yet and although I thought the show was dopey I enjoyed the scenery. I also thought that it was cool that they did not make it like a commercial for DCL. For example the mom and dad tried to excite the kids about Mickey and activities in the kid's lab and the little girls thought that the ladder to the bunk was the coolest, most entertaining thing on the ship. That is typical, like when you give a kid a gift and they play with the box!
I am so glad they didn't show the little kids engaged in a sickly sweet embrace with Mickey (in slow motion of course)or similar. It would have been cheesy.
Don't get me wrong I love my Disney Vacation planning DVD which is full of that stuff- but I think it would be lame if they tried to jam that into a sitcom in hopes of increased bookings.

I was very disappointed in the show. I really expected to see alittle more of the Magic and some of the cast members. The only thing that really made me want to go back was seeing the view from the Heads Up Bar! Plus, the pics of the Magic were enough to send chills down my spine. Now if only my husband got the same feeling from the show. He was very unimpressed and said it didn't make him want to go back, shucks!!!!

I think it did little to establish a "call to action" for people to get up from the sofa and call DCL even get a quote!

It did give DCL a little exposure they wouldn't have had otherwise but it wasn't a goldmine!

The Christmas Parade special was superbly done . . . the website was hopping with hits . . . it was hard to get a page to display.

Disney knows how to market themselves -- this was just a freebie!

I know it didn't make me any more excited about our upcoming cruise. I don't think they showed enough of the ship. I think they could have done a quicker job of getting them on the ship in the first episode which may have left more room for ship shots in episode one.

I got very excited seeing the ship and some shots of the CM's....Karen from Cruise Staff.... but all in all I was also disappointed in the premises of the show.

I think it would have been much more funny to just show them just taking a family cruise on DCL. They would have more opportunity for comedy....come on....don't you think it would have been hysterical to see James Belushi involved in the Best Disney Legs Competition on deck or him participating in the Bellyflop Competition or the Magic Quest (scavenger hunt game). And how funny would it have been to have Jim and his wife as one of panelists for Match Your Mate....if they played it right it would great!!!

I did not like the storyline at all.

I was disappointed by the show. They didn't show enough of the ship, etc to interest me. But since I have cruised four times, I know how great everything and everyone is. I think a better story line would have been they were on vacation, forget the commercial bit.

There are people who watch that show EVERY WEEK!

I totally agree with that. The story would have been much more interesting if it was about their vacation on DCL. Too bad we aren't "Hollywood script writers". We would have done a marvelous job with this show! :chat:

I did watch the show because we are thinking about a cruise, but the show didn't push me either way. YOU GUYS make it sound great! Just reading your posts makes me want to GO! You all are a MUCH better ad!

Thanks for "starting my engine". I enjoy reading all your posts.:bounce: :jumping1:
