My wife wants to visit Disney Hilton Head while on vacation in September. She really thinks she wants a timeshare ( DVC ).

So, I called the Timeshare store and tried to arrange a 3 day stay and was told to call the resort directly.

I did that ( at least it was the number on the web page ). That person said someone would call me back, and they haven't. I called Friday.

So, I called back today and was given a number to call. That guy said to go to www.disneyworld.com and everthing would be there to book. Well, I clicked on the part I was told to click on and it listed only the resorts AT WDW, not HH.

Maybe they know I am not a big Disney fan.....

So, how do I, or can I visit Hilton Head DVC?

If you have few extra bucks burning a hole in your pants and you're thinking about handing it over you know who ::MickeyMo, you just made the Disney's Most Wanted List and they will make you feel really wanted, REALLY.

To answer your question, I believe the link you posted is only for WDW resorts so you probably need to call the Disney reservation center at 407-W-DISNEY.

One of the numbers I was given was a 407 number....I have to check if that was it.

But I thought "timeshare", and assumed people would call ASAP, or at least let me speak to someone.

Papa Deuce not a big Disney fan?? With 2 little daughters you'll probably soon become one! :goodvibes Definitely don't give up. Call the 407-W-Disney number. I'm sure they'll be able to help you. Our children are now 25 and 22. We just became members of the Disney Vacation Club in April. We're heading to Old Key West in September. Hope you enjoy your stay at Hilton Head and remember to post back with your review! :wizard: :wizard:

Except that Disney no longer has any HH points left to sell. The sales office in Hilton Head has been closed for a couple of years. The only way to buy HH points now is through resale.

If you're looking for some type of inexpensive weekend stay at the resort so you can check it out, I'm sorry to say that they're not offering it. They really weren't offering anything like that when they DID have points to sell. Probably the only way you'll get on property this summer would be to pay the cash rate on weekends, which is not an inexpensive proposition. :sad2:

If you really want to check out the resort, you might want to rent points from someone and go after Labor Day when the weather is still great, but the resort won't be sold out.

Sorry, I'm sure this isn't what you wanted to hear....

Actually Birnbaums Official guide has a coupon for 20% off Disney Hilton head. I am pretty sure you can book DVC resorts on on-line just like the other resorts. They are called Home away from home resorts. Nancy

I had heard about this. And we would need it. I have heard that HH is $280 per night to do what we want. We just want to spend 3 days there to check it out, before moving down the road for the final 7 days of our vacation in HH.

rent some points, enjoy your stay..:)

HTH!!

Sorry, but there's no way to get a reduced rate to "check out" a Disney timeshare. They sell very well and, unlike almost any other timeshare, they've generally held and increased their value over time. So Disney has no reason to offer the kind of "stay here cheaply for a couple of days and attend a 90-minute presentation" deals that other timeshares offer. The other side of the coin is that if and when you do the Disney presentation (which is only available for SSR, not HH), there's no pressure and nobody plays games with the price.

If you decide to purchase and HH is what you want, places like the Timeshare Store can help you find a resale for somewhat less than the going rate Disney charges for SSR points. That's what they handle: resales, not rentals.

This is good advice. When you finally get them on the phone and make your ressies, at least compare that with the average $10 per point cost of renting points.

There's a point calculator chart link at the top of this page, so you can figure what you need and do the math to see whether renting is good. It will probably depend on whether you are planning to stay a Friday and/or Saturday night -- points costs are roughly double for those nights, and if you're staying over a weekend, cash may be less expensive.

I don't know when you are looking, but if you can't rent points for the nights, try Expedia, Orbitz, or travelocity, I just plugged in 3 nights in August and it gave me a 2 bedroom for 438 a night? I didn't not know what dates you were looking for. Good luck

That is exactly what I am now trying to do. Thanks.

The Timeshare Store sells contracts owned by private individuals. They're not in the business of renting timeshares. Also, owners trying to sell are unlikely to rent out points b/c it holds up the closing process. (When the contract is sent to Disney for their review for ROFR, they will cancel any reservations using points from the contract. So either the ressie gets canceled or the closing has to take place after the stay occurs.)

The big drawback to HH is that unlike the other DVC resorts where Fri and Sat are the same rate (approx 2x's Sun-Thu night rates), Sat is about triple weeknight points. So, if you are going to rent points, I would suggest staying during the week.

You may also want to try this site Hilton Head

If you have a Disney Visa, they may offer discounted stays in the off season. Last year, you could get a 2BR for $99/night.

If you want to call the resort directly, it's 843-341-4100.

When are you planning to go? The other posters are "kind of" correct in that yes HH is sold out, and yes DVC doesn't offer "check it out" rates, HOWEVER I have stayed at HH every year for the past 4 at rates of 99 or 129 a night for a 2BR during May, January, October, and November... The resort is SLAM PACKED FULL during summer, and almost empty the rest of the year, so if you are travelling off season look for those rates.

I used to find those rates by looking at http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/index, but the last time I had to call CRO directly and ask about them...

Good Luck

I knew that but was thinking that they might have access to a vacancy or company owned condo, to entice people to consider buy available units from them.

We just added on....$89 per point was the price for the old out resorts. My guide gave me a big choice, I think he said Hh had 2200 points avaiable (this was March).

Unless you're in a really big hurry to buy HH or need the financing, you are better off resale. You can get HH points for $70 ($72-73 once you figure in closing costs). Points now through DVC are $92, so you'll save about $4K on a 200 point contract. It is iffy whether you'll have time to close on a resale and still book a Sept stay, so you may want to rent points for Sept.

A possible alternative is to put in an offer on a contract. Have the owner make a reservation in your name with the closing to be held after the reservation ends. (You'll prbably have to pony up a good portion of the closing proceeds to get the seller to go along.) Timeshare Store might be able to help you on this.

BTW, we'll be in a HH studio 9/13-9/17.

Good luck.

DVC doesn't do promotional stays so if you called and ask for one, I doubt they'd ever call you back. You can stay and you can buy, but you can't get a free or nearly so stay at any DVC through the sales department like you can at many timeshares. That's actually a moderately busy time at HH, you may not get such a great deal at that time but it never hurts to try. There is NOTHING on II for HH right now for that general time frame.

Several years ago we stayed at HH for$99 a night for a 2 bedroom. We did need to attend the DVC tour. Now that it is sold out, I doubt you will see that deal again, but I found it on the disney web site under DVC Nancy
