I live on a court, and the neighbors right in front of my house insist on backing their car into the garage. Not a big deal you say, but wait. They like to come and go all hours of the day and night. My bedroom is directly across from their driveway and the lights shine in and blind us. I've had to rearrange the bedroom so that at least they don't shine directly into our faces but they are still bright. Oh yeah, they like to blast their music when they are driving up too!
Then there are the ones next door that our fences touch. I have my cocker spaniel outside during the day and they have a HUGE dog outside that is very vicious. I don't know what kind of breed it is, it is just very huge. I am scared to let my kids in the backyard when it is outside because I'm scared it could bite them if they go near the fence. (I tell them not to go near there, but one of my 4 year old is autistic and doesn't know any better, so we just don't go out).
Last but not least is the future basketball star that believes in practicing basketball alot. I can hear him outside bouncing that ball early every morning, even school days.
So, how about you?

BF and I started renting a duplex about a year and a half ago. We actually like it a lot, MOST of the neighbors are nice, or at least pleasant.

BUT, the lady renting a unit in the back of the house on the lot next to us has only one volume for her voice...VERY LOUD. Seems like she can't carry on a conversation without the whole neighborhood knowing what she's saying.

Our neighbors are generally good, kind people. However, our neighbors to the south insist on leaving their backyard spotlight on ALL NIGHT!!! Of course, it points directly in to our bathroom, which illuminates our bedroom. Both DW & I prefer complete darkness to sleep. They may have a reason, but I don't know what it is. Why anyone would want to shine light on that poor excuse for a backyard, I don't know! Thank goodness they have a privacy fence. I guess I should say something to them, but I'm not sure it's worth making a neighbor angry.

Let's see, where do I begin???

How about the teenage unemployed drummer down the road--he sits in his garage playing hours at a time--police have gone by many times; it will stop a few days, then resume.

How about our next door neighbors (who have now moved) who had 7, yes 7, snakes as pets--including a couple that were poisonous. The teenage son would sit on his Harley in the driveway with the boa wrapped around him. Lovely.

And then there's the house on the main entrance to our neighborhood with tin foil covering their arcadian window to the dining room.

We live in a nice home in a nice subdivision, especially now that the Snake Family has moved on :)

Peep, they are obsessed with us....it's been going on for 20 years:rolleyes:
They even named their dog the same name as ours. Can you believe that?
When they call their dog, ours goes running and barks, talk about confusing.
I can't stand them, they make it very hard to love thy neighbor.
Then he got mad when we put a fence up between our houses, so he backs out of his garage turns sideways and bumps into our stockade fence. DH has had to fix it several times, new posts and all.

We have decent enough neighbors but I do have one. He is mid twenties, very goodlooking, and he has to mow his lawn without his shirt.

What am I to do? I usually peek out the window just to make sure he cuts his lawn in straight lines. Then he edges, the eye candy is just to much too bare.

Sounds like my neighbor...she is nice..but oh my is she loud! And she has a potty mouth too! Everything she does is loud. When she closes her side door, which is across her driveway from my dining room, she slams it so hard that even my windows rattle...I'm not kidding either.

A few yrs back we had a mini earthquake here and there was a loud boom that went along with it. I actually thought there was an explosion. When I was talking to her son about it...he said "that was an earhtquake, I thought my Mom was just shutting the back door!"

I can hear her even with all my doors and windows shut.

My neighbor across the street has to back into his driveway all the time too. And he just can't back in he has to pull into my driveway first and then back across the street. When I knew it was time for him to come home from work the girls had to play in the back, i was always afraid he would run them over.

Oh My....Don't even get me started on neighbors! The "crazy" lady next door has taken me to court because of an argument we had. My kids (6) were touching her chain link fence. She made up a lie about me threatening to harm her and took me to court. I won the case, but it cost me $1,000 in legal fees. Now she puts up her middle finger at us (me and the kids) every time we drive by. Nice, huh?

The guy who lives behind me basically has so much junk in his yard that you can barely see the ground. It's a cape on a lot sized at less than 10,000 sf. He has TWO huge sheds, a large above ground pool with a deck attached, a boat, a trampoline and tons of other kids toys/jeeps/cars, etc. It's a mess. Oh...and now he has a dog that he leaves outside all day...and he leaves his porch light on all night that shines directly into my bedroom. I could go on........

The only good news is that my house is on the market and hopefully someone will be able to see past the "outside" of the house and appreciate everything we've done inside. I know I just can't get past the outside anymore.

Thanks for asking this question. It's nice to know I'm not the only one with annoying neighbors.

They won't fix their septic tank. They invite other families to live with them for months at a time (see septic tank issue). They throw garbage everywhere. For example, if they finish a soda, they drop it where they are standing. They come and go at all hours of the night, revving their engines each time.

And the most annoying thing of all.... I recently discovered they are squatters. They haven't made a mortgage payment in three years - it takes that long for forclosure to go through. Hopefully their house will be auctioned off in three weeks. YEAH! Then the new owners will hopefully have them removed and clean the place up.

A few other things really bother me, but they are probably not my business. They have never landscaped their backyard and it is just full of weeds and garbage. (The rest of the neighbor hood doesn't see that, but unfortunately that is the view from our deck) They have two dogs that NEVER, and I mean NEVER, go outside in the yard. They practically live on the deck and they apparently poop there. Every once in a while someone hoses off the deck. I haven't called animal control because they do seem to be fed, etc. but I feel so sorry for them.

okay, this really shouldn't annoy me...its really not a bad thing like I've had in the past (the noisy, drunken neighbors at our townhouse). However, for some reason it just gets to me...don't know why.

our neighbor across the street has a perfect lawn. I'm not talking a nice lawn here, I'm talking perfect. several times a day he walks his lawn making sure there isn't a single weed anywhere to be found. he's re-sodded the street edge 2x this summer already. I can't count the amount of time he spends feeding, seeding, weeding, cutting, trimming, and inspecting his lawn. Its like he has no other purpose in life.

don't get me wrong, there are worse things than having a neighbor who actually keeps his property up. It just irks me for some reason.

Oh my parents have neighbors like that! Every other morning at 7 AM they are outside, husband and wife, mowing and trimming and weed-whacking. It never ends! I think they mow as long as there isn't snow on the ground. And they are the only family on the whole block that will have a green lawn in drought conditions- but no one ever sees them water, no sprinklers either.
Oh, and SHE washes HIS car every day. Every day! And these people are not retired- they both have full time jobs.

Most of my neighbors are fine, except for my one next door neighbor who is kind of annoying sometimes. We have a driveway that can fit 3, sometimes 4 cars. The 4 of us in our house drive, and my boyfriend is always over, so there's always 5 cars by my house. Of course, some of the cars have to be in the street. One day, my neighbor complained to my mom that my boyfriend's car was taking up a little bit of his space on the street. From what I understand, no own owns any spots on the street, so we're free to park wherever we want. My boyfriend was parked in front of my house, but our neighbor complained that it was taking up part of the space where he parks. I don't understand what the problem is with parking somewhere else, there's plenty of space on our street. Sometimes we just gotta watch out for him, he's really picky with things.

Wow ~ some of this stuff here is so much worse than what I have to put up with that it makes me kind of embarassed to mention mine, but here goes: my new neighbors seem nice enough, but they leave their garbage cans out l-o-n-g after the truck has picked up. Many times their cans are still there the next day, and I have seen them come home, get their mail and walk right on past their empty cans! Ahh!

If it gets windy and the cans start rolling around into the street, I do go pick them up for them, but I can't seem to understand why they can't put them away in a reasonable amount of time? (like before another day dawns!)

It's a small annoyance, but still an annoyance.

Hmmm, where do I begin. The next door neighbors - wife deals drugs (house was raided March 1st), is loud and obnoxious. Her brother and sister who are also involved with drugs live there at time - mostly the brother now. Across the street - DH and DW do drugs and are involved with next door (they were included in the raid) the whaco across the street and over 2 houses - she is just plain nuts - her and her DH constantly fighting, they divorced, DH moved back into the house, fight, fight, fight, he moved back out and she lost custody of her kids. Apparently she helucinates.

wow, compared to you guys, I have good neighbors.... I just moved here a few months ago, the only thing that annoys me is the language from the lady next door when she's yelling at her son, can't tell if that F-word is an adjective or a verb... and she wonders why he's like he is. He's the one who torments the dogs and comes in with his stereo blaring. Other than the brat, everyone else is great, very helpful and we all get along.

My neighbors have their Christmas lights still up--from 3 Christmases ago..and they are icicle lights so they are very noticable..and they are sagging waaay down in one spot.
AND they didn't even light them this past Christmas, I don't think they even work.
It drives me crazy. Just take them down!

our neighbors on the corner were just nuts. Dad works as a manager at the local strip club and Jr was out handing out coupons to all the boys to give to their dads. Jr is also a bully and was picking on my middle one. On 4th of July Jr walked in uninvited to our party so I kicked him out. Darling Mommy came out of her house and defended Jr in a loud crude manner. Few weeks later I started getting all kinds of junk mail mostly business and office supply. Also got a few magazines that I didn't subscribe too. Also when school started she and her son would swear at my son while he was walking to school. I called the school and they said they would talk to the kid but if it happened again I should call the police. Apparently they did talk to them and told them they could be prosucuted so the harresment stopped. Luckily we moved away from these toxic people

I hate when people don't take their light down!!! I forgot to mention the people across the street still have theirs up too!
