Let's have some fun and see if we can make a list of "Things You Won't Find in Disney Theme Parks". If you think you have one but aren't sure, just say so with a question mark. I'll start us off with just a few.

chewing gum
mimes
baked potatoes? (a thread in the Restaurant forum only came up with Concourse Steakhouse as a place you could get them)

Wasn't there a mime in Epcot, probably my imagination, but I am sure I watched one in world showcase.

Baked potatoes - why is it that American restaurants are so uninspired when it comes to potato side dishes? Enough with the mashed potato!!!

Sorry - no help in adding to this list though!

Just wanted to add chewing tobacco. DH uses it and needs to quit but he ran out last time we were there and went out to get some. He had to go all the way out of Disney! He was gone about 2 hours.

I think you're referring to the Living Statues act. If so, that was silent performance art but not a traditional mime act. (mimism?) In any case it's been discontinued. Thanks for the pointer though.

There are some fairly obvious things I haven't mentioned since I don't want to be a hog. But how about

cotton candy?

I really have no idea. It may be all over the place and I just never noticed. But I don't remember any.

You won't find any newspapers for sale in the Magic Kingdom. That includes at the Main Street News (maybe that shop isn't there anymore). The story is that Walt wanted guests to be fully immersed in the fantasy world and therefore he delibrately didn't want any "news" of the Real World.
BamaTigger, you just gave the #1 reason why I want to move to Alabama when we retire-so I, too, can live 6 hours from WDW. Now we're much too far away.

I wish I could say you never see anyone unhappy, but we all read the "have you ever had a shock" thread!
I just want to say that they DO have cotton candy. I got some while waiting for Fantasmic. :wizard:

Visitors in their swimsuits strolling thru the parks (unlike other amusement parks in the country)...I like the fact that Disney visitors must dress appropriately ! :thumbsup2

We saw a mime in Epcot.
He was in France. He was dressed in black and white with a white painted face.
He did juggling, little skits and such.
Yep. He was a mime.

There is a mime in France.

Something you'll never see is a Tomorrowland CM walking through Adventureland. They keep the "land" themes going strong by using those underground tunnels.

One more thing you don't see on Disney property is a Starbucks. NesCafe is everywhere.

That must be who I saw too, reassuring to know I didn't imagine it. It definitely wasn't the living statues people.
