Things you didn't do and regreted

Things I regret...

... not taking more down time at our resort (POR).
... missed Cinderellabration (my kids saw it though, that's what matters)
... not eating at 'Ohana.
... missing the Tiki room
... not getting a Dole Whip
... didn't go on Test track
... Sleeping in and making dh take kids to MK our last day. I missed watching my daughter meet the princesses :0(
... Boma (we did not like it at all)
... not taking more time at Epcot
... skipping Tarzan Rocks, now we'll never see it
... not walking through the castle
... skipped Camp Minnie Mickey
... didn't see Lights Motor Action show
... going to Chef Mickey's twice, we should have tried something new
... didn't get a family photo in front of the castle
... planning too much of our trip around ADRs at restaurants
... didn't buy the photo album I wanted

The biggest regret... that I have to wait two years until I can go back and right these wrongs!

A few years ago in AK we thought it would be nice to see the Pocahontas Show since our DD is a HUGE Pocahontas fan. It was terrible. The actress playing Pocahontas seemed nervous, the animals didn't cooperate (I remember the racoon hissing at someone in the audience), and even our DD (just 5 at the time) thought it was a waste of time. From that moment on we've always used that as our standard of sub-par lameness. If our DD is relating something negative she's experienced she'll still say, "...but at least it wasn't as bad as 'Pocahontas'."

Good news is that the Pocahontas Show has gotten much better. We were just there last month and the show was really cute and kids seemed to really enjoy it. It was amazing how the cast member playing Pocahontas really really looked like her. Her hair was definitely her own and her voice was really strong.

What I regret missing this last trip:

A Dole Whip
Missed Seeing Mike & Sulley at MGM
Couldn't seem to locate Belle's Story Time??

I regret not sitting and watching Off Kilter until February 2005!! I watched 3 of their shows last time!! Wonderful show.

Also I would have skipped Stitch and stick needles in my eyes instead...it would have been less painful

Who are Mike & Sulley?

I thought of something else that I regret. I took my DS4 on Dinosaur thinking he would love it----he was scared to death. I felt sooooo bad. We had to ride the "silly dinosaurs" (triceratops spin) 5 times after that to make up for it :goodvibes It was the only ride the whole trip he didn't like.

Bigmac5, Mike and Sully are from Monsters, Inc. My DS4 favorite movie and we misssed them too :guilty:

Dole Whip AND Tonga Toast - 2 things I really regret tasting. Next time I shall do it

Things I regret:

Not getting a Dole Whip, last trip DD and I headed over to get one and the Aloha Isle was closed. Big Bummer

Not seeing Spectromagic or Cinderellabration on our last trip. It was only a five day trip and just didn't have enough time.

Having to wait until Oct 06 to go back!!!!!! :sad2:

What a wonderful thread!

One motif through here seems to be that we -- the avid, loving, fabulous WDW trip planners -- ignore our own wants/needs/wishes and cave to our families, even though we do know better (sometimes!). My wish for all of you DIS-ers out there is that you make sure, next trip, that you do at least one of the things that YOU most want to do, and tell the family they need to cooperate since you take care of making all of their magical things happen!

I appreciated the comment on the flip side of this, about buying kids the silly little things they ask for -- WHY didn't I buy my 6 year old DS the soft little stuffed animal that was one of the pegasus horses from Fantasia?! (Hey -- anyone been to EPCOT or MGM recently and seen these? maybe I can right my wrong in December!) Good point -- just go with it and have fun and remember that this little stuff can really make (or break) the trip for kids.

I regret that I'm such a ride sissy -- I cannot handle rollercoasters or big thrill rides -- but in December I'm going to try. DS and Dh want me to start with Goofy's Barnstormer (yes, I've been afraid to try it!) and they think I *may* be able to work myself up to BTMR. I hold on for dear life riding Dumbo (but hey, I do ride it!) and am hoping I can pull it together to try Astro Orbiter at night.

AND I regret that I don't push the camera into DH's hands more often -- you'd think from looking at our pictures that I wasn't even on the trip! THIS time, I'm going to pick one, beloved character and actually get MY picture taken (provided I'm clearly not cheating any child out of the chance -- hate to see the adults elbowing out the kids at character time...),

But otherwise, I like to keep my running list and figure that I'll always be saving something for next time -- so that we're always planning our next trip! But I do take the caution of others who put things off that then disappeared from the parks....

Thanks, Its been a while since I last saw that movie. I forgot their names until you told me

I regret I didnt bring the video cam into MK to film wishes and the parade, I had it in my car but decided at the last minute to not bring it. Ateast next year I will have a digital cam which will be much better.
I also regret not getting a better pic of me and my wife in front of the castle. We had one last year, but this year I wanted to wait till the castle was illuminated so when we took the pic and developed it, it was soo dark you couldnt make out anything. Im glad the 50th will be around when we go back.

I regret that I didn't get to see Spectro. I was there for 2 weeks, only 2 shows on and missed them both. I also regret that I didn't go down summit plummit, I was going to but then a storm started and the rides were all closed. My other regret is that I didn't go into Disney Quest. All these things will be fixed in December though (although Summit Plummit will depend on the weather!)

I regret not taking enough pictures! Especially at the resorts we have stayed at. I also regret not writing down room numbers and sections of resorts for future reference!

Regrets -

-- Waiting until I was 32 to go to WDW for the first time. ::MinnieMo
-- Waiting another 6 years to go back (non-convention) .:guilty:
-- Not taking some time one night during a convention at the Dolphin to go into one of the parks. I couldnt have been THAT tired! :confused3
-- On my first trip, wasted 2 days piddling around the house and hitting the tourist spots instead of getting into a park. As a result, only went in MK on one day - Thanksgiving Day - rode Splash, Space, Skytram, Alien Adventure and WDW Train only. Never set foot in any other park. STUPID STUPID STUPID.

One thing I'm not going to regret - I've done a semi-plan - suggestions for each park (THANKS DIS!) and ADRs. I'm going to make sure all three of us get to do something we want to do each day.

Oh boy do I have a regret and my family STILL talks about it 14 years later!! We were at a character breakfast in the Magic Kingdom (cant remember where :confused3 ) I was bouncing around like any other 10 year old would be, when some 'suits' approached my family and I and asked if I wanted to be in the parade!!! My parents were like Go for it!! and I was like NO!! Dont ask me why, I am a far cry from being shy, but I think that I was just taken aback. To this day, I regret it as do my family, but now, they blow it out of proportion, "you could have been on the Mickey Mouse Club, or someone famous!!!" Yeah thats a regrettable one...

My second would be that we spent only a 1/2 day at MGM this past trip, dont ask why, it just ended up that way and its one of favorite parks!!
