My family and I are planning a trip to the new york boston area next month.

My kids are 5 and almost 7. Any ideas for fun things to do while we are there? Any must sees?

Thanks!

Can you be a little more specific as to where you are going and for how long? There are tons of DISers in both of those areas that I'm sure can offer suggestions :) ...you might want to narrow down what you mean by NY/Boston "area"....... lots of must-sees and must-do's in both "areas" and they are hundreds of miles apart

Do you mean besides all the sites? Or are you asking what all the sites are?

Go whale watching at the Cape...Go to the Track in Saratoga...Mystic Seaport....Old Sturbridge village. And if you're driving and like candles Yankee "the mother load" Candle (exit 4 on 90) then go north to Deerfield(I think). Also Six flags NE is in MA.

Well, we are completely open. We got really cheap tickets to JFK, and are staying 10 days. I have no specific plans, but we have never been to the east coast area.

We just want to know what the sites are in the boston area. We are renting a car so we can get to anything. I think we are going to see storyland and water country, but we wondered what else the kids might enjoy.

So, we want to know any and all recommendations!

Oh, and i am asking what all the sites are :)

And they are only like 4 hours apart right?

I live out here in the west. 4 hours away is a neighboring city, lol.

just for a few Massachusetts sites and for Water County up in Portsmouth, NH
Story Land is way up in the White Mountains....

Try doing a google search for Massachusetts visitors bureau, that's where I found a lot of the above sites. Definitely hit the Cape!!

have fun!! and enjoy our state! I hope this helps

In the Boston area you could do a Duck Tour. The Duck tours are tours that do land a water. It's pretty cool.

Yes, 4 or so hours if you don't run into traffic problems and dont' stop anywhere en route.

In the City of Boston area there are the sites along the Freedom Trail...the New England Aquarium, Museum of Science, Children's Museum, Faneuil Hall and a Duck Tour are a few things that come to mind. Revolutionary War sites Lexington & Concord are out a half hour or so from Boston, near Thoreau's Walden Pond and Louisa May Alcott's house if you're into American literature.

Storyland is way up in northern NH (as is Santa's Village)...about another 3 hours north of Boston. Portsmouth NH where Water Country is has a nice Children's Museum and you could take a trip up into coastal Maine from there...less crowded/less commercial than Cape Cod...(IMHO)

have fun!!

If your going to be in Boston, there are many many places to visit,
