We arrive in Orlando on Satuday 3/29 , our flight is scheduled to arrive at 415pm. We then have to drive to Windor hills...etc....but that is my oldest's birthday. He will be 12. I am looking for a little something to do to celebrate his bday that night.

I don't want to waste and admission to a park that late....any ideas?

I was looking at some of the fireworks cruises.....
I thought maybe minigolf...or dinner somewhere...
Doesn't have to be onsite.

He mentioned wanting to race gocarts while we are in orlando.

I can't come right out and ask him...because it is a surprise for him that we are leaving on his bday.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your help!

It might be too late to get ADRs for some of the dinner shows or cruises. Maybe he could go parasailing at the Contemporary? The minigolf courses do look fun or some of the marinas have water craft rental.

If you google Orlando Go Karts you will get a few options - maybe ask about them on the Orlando Attractions board?

Alot of kids love Dave & Busters

For a fun dinner, if you want to stay on-site, Hoop-D-Do, the Spirit of Alogo Dinner Show and Mickey's Backyard BBQ are all nice option.

We actually talked about dave & busters....this maybe a good option.

I really wanted to do Hoop De Do....but I am not sure that is really his thing....
He loves fireworks....so I think I read where you can see fireworks from one of the resorts....on the beach....Polynesian maybe....I thought that might be cool...and then we can see the water parade to right? I can go to the resort without using an actual park admission right?

Thank you....I will post over there too...I just wondered if there was anything with a little "Disney Magic" we could do....just to kinda get the Vacay rolling...LOL!!

Yea...ADR's a pretty much booked up. That is another story though! LOL!!

They have the new Splittsville location at DTD. Does he like bowling and such? There seems to be a lot of fun stuff going on there.

We like the mini golf courses and that is always an option as well.

We are huge bowlers!!

I know he would really like splitsville....but it seems it is a little cheaper during the day...It is definitely on the radar. That is unlike any bowling alley we have ever been to (obviously!) and I know he would love it!

No, you don't need admission to have dinner at any of the resorts. If you can get a dining reservation, dinner at Ohana', then fireworks and the water pageant from the Poly Beach would be fun. You could also do any of the other restaurants on the monorail and still see the fireworks. Not sure what construction is like now at the Poly. You could even order a specialty cake or one of the more generic birthday cakes for him. Good luck.

Splittsville Lanes
Fireworks from the Poly Beach
a Kitchen Sink from Beaches and Cream
Mini Golf
There is Disney Quest which my family loves but there is a cover charge, not as expensive as a park but still its a cover charge

Since fireworks are his thing I think I would agree with Beaches & Cream ( I would check for an ADR )eat dinner there and have a cake or the kitchen sink ice cream and then stroll outside to see fireworks With all the Poly construction I think I would avoid that one Welcome to the Dis and happy birthday to your DS

Thank you! and thank you for the suggestion...I will check it out right now!

What about medieval times , and if you sign up online before his birthday you may get the certificate for the free birthday admission before you leave.

Thank you all for the Beaches & Cream suggestion!!

That is definitely the plan now!!!!!!!!!

Might try to squeeze go carts in before that....but WOW!! The Kitchen Sink would be perfect Birthday Disney Hooopla!!!!

So excited....so now....more things to look up....

Where to park? How late should we go? Do we just walk outside for the fireworks? What time are fireworks? Can we see the water parade there? Are there more things to do right there? Playgrounds? Site see???

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!

There are still ADRs available for the 8:30 HDDR for 3/29. Not sure your party size, but they had avails up to 5 people. I didn't check for more than that.

Beaches & Cream is located between Epcot & DHS. No water parade but you could see the Epcot fireworks at 9pm. This is a very popular small restaurant. Be prepared to wait a good amount of time for a table. I think that they may have started taking adr. I have only been successful getting in there to eat at weird times.

You really can't get a very good view of Illuminations from anywhere outside of Epcot. You can only see some of the high level fireworks. It would be nothing like watching Wishes from the beach at the Poly.

If your son likes sports you might consider parking at the Boardwalk and eating at ESPN Club. My boys always loved eating there at that age. You could walk to Fantasia Gardens for mini golf after dinner and then finish the night with the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream.... they are open until 11pm.

This sounds like a good plan. They are sports fanatics. I didn't know if there was anything we could do with the ESPN wide world of sports being on disney. I will research the ESPN club. Thank you for the tips!

Thank you DIS for being so helpful!!!

You really can't see the fireworks outside of Epcot. A few here and there. On the first night of our vacation last year, we had dinner at Beaches and Cream. We stuck around after dinner expecting to see a bit of the fireworks, but we couldn't see anything worth mentioning.

Just to be clear, the Wide World of Sports is a whole sports venue over on Victory Way. (There is a cafe that operates there when events are going, like Braves games and other larger events.) You could check that website to see what events are going; you might see something you'd enjoy. The ESPN Club (or is this one a Zone?) is a restaurant on the boardwalk with tons of TVs showing whatever sporting events ESPN happens to be televising right now.
