We are a Disney family going for our first Universal trip. We have had a tradition of going to Chef Mickey’s on our arrival night every trip and would like to find something special to do on our arrival to Universal. Any suggestions? We will be at Cabana Bay and thinking maybe the dinner and bowling, but is there something we don’t know about outside of the parks that would be more fun? Our kids will be 16, 10, 4, 4, and 8 months, so just wanting something fun to do with them. I’m assuming there aren’t character dinners outside the parks?

It will require reservations, but I really enjoyed Toothsome in City Walk the last time I went to Universal Orlando. Going for a walk in City Walk might be fun. It's the entertainment district between the two parks.

I agree that “Toothsome Chocolate Emporium” is probably your best choice with kids. Penelope and her robot Jacques interact with the guests. It’s really cute and there are tons of shareable dessert options (as well as a full dinner menu of course).
