Things to arrange/reserve in advance of trip?

Wow, I can't believe it's been four years since I was last here on the DISboards. Glad to see my login still works, and folks are still sharing great tips!

On our last trip to Disneyland in 2006, we did the Fantasmic Dessert, which I called 30 days ahead for and reserved our table. What a special treat that was! I'm so glad we paid the extra for it (that was when you could sit up on the balcony).

This year, Fantasmic is out due to the river repair. However, I was wondering if there are any other similar special events, seating arrangements, etc. that can be reserved in advance for that "special" feeling like we got with the Fantasmic dessert experience. So far, I haven't found anything on the official Disneyland web site.

[Edit] Oh yeah...we're staying at the Disneyland Hotel...upper level pool or park view. So, any tips on whether we can/should call to make any special room requests would be much appreciated, too. I might just call them anyway to see if there are any specifics we can request, like park vs. pool view, or to get a mini fridge, etc.

If you have any young girls in your group, you might consider the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. It is a makeover experience for young girls that is supposed to make them feel like princesses. I think that is the only "newish" thing that I can think of that you would want to reserve in advance.

Our daughter is 12 now, but I'll pass that along to my brother, who has a couple of young daughters.

I did call the hotel and request one of the new rooms (although, it looks like the new rooms might be a little less "disney" than the old ones).

As an FYI to others preparing for a Disneyland trip, I did call (714) 781-3463 to reserve lunch at the Blue Bayou (restaurant at Pirates). They take reservations up to 30 days in advance. I asked the person who helped me, and she recommended calling at least a week in advance. Although, you can often get reservations on shorter notice, the earlier the better/safer.

It's actually 60 days ~ that's with any DLR retaurant that you can make a "reservation" for ~ and Blue Bayou is one that you definitely want to get as soon as you can.

We also made a reservation at Carnation Cafe so we can have some Mickey Waffles one morning.

Oh don't discount the BBB just because she's 12
my DD13 went for her 13th bday and she was so excited and giddy. I would consider her a mature 13 lol and it was just so precious

WHen do you plan on going? The only thing I could think of is requesting one of the refurbished rooms. The further out your trip, the higher the likelihood is of you getting one.
