I was put in "Siberia", the furthest away from the Hippy Dippy as possible.

They were just trying to make you feel at home since you are from the other frozen wasteland ;)

Shhhh... I won't lurk, but don't tell anyone I'm here - I'm not supposed to be reading other ppl's TR's until I get another installment up on my own ;)

I'm absolutely loving reading each of the Viking/Maelstrom/Dorkdum/etc. stories, and yours is no exception! Definitely motivating me to try meeting up at The World with some DISers I've met.

Tip-toing back to my place, now...

Yak, you've got some entertainment here on this trippie. I feel like it is being told by several folks. Keep it up! I love your sense of humor and am looking forward to hearing about this trip with your particular perspective. :thumbsup2

YAK!!!

Just checkin' in. Wow, you are really cooking on these installments. Where oh where do you find the time?!?!

SKATERS, change direction!!

(Just had to do that.)

Guess I'd better get back to writing my next installment............Keep 'em coming! I'm curious how you liked Brown Derby.

MGM – Brown Derby and a YAKtasmic Time! Did you know that when you report a “dust” infraction at a Disney restaurant, they will close down the area and immediately swifter.

During our trip planning stage K told me that a good friend and his friend were going to be at Disney when we were there. We arranged to meet them at the Brown Derby and see Fantasmic together. I told DH that we were dining at the Brown Derby and he said, “I’ve been to the one in Vegas and you’re going to hate it, it was crap."

What? And we are spending two "free" dining credits to eat there!!!!!!

I had very low expectations to say the least.

We drove over to MGM and parked. We decided to take the tram instead of walking to the gate because K needed to get the whole Disney experience! ;)

Upon entering the gates…..even though it was MGM, not the best park to start first, she was impressed with her first ever Disney park. The finger scan was also very interesting to her, but more on that later.

We headed straight over to The Brown Derby.

We met up with K’s friends M & J, and waited for our table. It was only about 5 minutes which was great because I was thirsty and starving! The Happy Coke and $2 Pringles at 37,000 feet was over 4 hours ago.

The CM said, Follow me. Keep following. Right this way?

What? Was I headed for Siberia…..again?

Nooooooo, he took us to a private room in the back of the restaurant!!!!

How did they know this was my first trip away from kids? And K, M and J don’t have any kids so they’re a tad less tolerant of little ones making a fuss at a two credit dining establishment. This private room was just perfect for us!

Let’s just say, I loved the Brown Derby.

Except for the layer of Dust on the blinds. Look closely behind my DIS-lime-green shoulder. Just don't breath deep. You might sneeze!

What a happy looking group.....too much wine, I guess! :lmao:

The think BD Mousekeeping was keeping the dusty look in case they were going to celebrate Halloween at the Brown Derby soon. :confused3

Didn’t matter, good times and great food/drink.

I think this was my best meal of the trip. I had, the seared sea scallop with barbecued pork rib belly and corn relish for an appetizer. Pan-fired grouper on balsamic roasted asparagus with lemon-butter sauce topped with Bermuda onion marmalade. And for desert the Grapefruit cake. It was truly to die for!

I remember, because I asked the CM if I could have the menu ;)

So, thankfully DH was wrong with his prediction about The Brown Derby. And I will definately take him there next time we are together at Disney.

On the way out, we explained to the CM in charge that it was a little dusty in the back room.

When we walked by the window of our little room on the way to Fantasmic, it was now empty, with major swiftering happening!

YAK and company to the rescue!

We secured our YAK.I.P. seats to Fantasmic, and it was as great as I remember. Except the long Pocahontas part. Don’t really remember that. And I thought that all the characters ride past on the boats, not just the prince and princesses? Oh well.

But I did get a mad skillz photo of the water-on-fire (and a bunch of back of guests heads) :teeth:

We offered M & J a ride in the YAK Express back to their hotel – Caribbean Beach, mostly because we were interested in looking around.

After, we headed back to POP to our first Maelstromer encounter, at the Hippy Dippy.

Yak??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So. Basically you're saying. The Brown Derby didn't make ya yak??? :teeth:

That was the saidest group, except for K, that I have ever seen at a Disney dining establishment.

What exactly is "barbecued park rib belly"??? Does that come on a stick????

And how was the grapefruit cake???? I gotta know about the desserts!!!

And up next YAK

I am just guessing but K is the lady in the picture right..... :rotfl2:

Don't think your hubby would send you off with another guy.

Glad you liked Brown Derby, never tried it. We are to cheap to give up two credits.

I LOVE Sunday's. (Sundae's too) I have plenty o' time to read Trip Reports! It's so neat to read everyone's version of the meet. Can't wait to read more!!!!!

Grammy~ Tom and I thought the grapefruit cake was ok. Nothing I'd go out of my way for. But we did get the recipe.

Thanks for reading....

That's because it was BEFORE the Hippy Dippy!!!!!!!

What exactly is "barbecued park rib belly"???

:lmao: :rotfl2: It's a secret.........but you can get it at the same place as "YAK-butt-on-a-stick" :rotfl2:

(gotta love that edit....... ;) )

NAB -
I am just guessing but K is the lady in the picture right.....
Yup! She is. Don't you just love the "wow, I'm finally at Disney Newbie look" on her face!!!

Shelby - I also read that the grapefruit cake wasn't that great. But that particular night it was excellent. Maybe I chose the correct wine to go with it..... :teeth:

PrincessV - thanks for stopping by. Glad you're enjoying it.

YAK, really enjoying your report. And happy to know the cleaning fairies are swiffering when called for!!

Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the insight into the Brown Derby. I would love to try it someday, but it's a bit too exotic for Jay's tastes, I'm afraid. I'll get there eventually. And I'll ask for the "back room"! (Assuming, of course, that the blinds have been dusted!)

K does look just thrilled to be there! Unlike, I'm afraid, the rest of you!!!! :rotfl: I know....you were thrilled too. They just caught you at a bad moment!

Looking forward to the Hippy Dippy story(ies)!!
