MGM Brown Derby and a YAKtasmic Time! Did you know that when you report a dust infraction at a Disney restaurant, they will close down the area and immediately swifter.
During our trip planning stage K told me that a good friend and his friend were going to be at Disney when we were there. We arranged to meet them at the Brown Derby and see Fantasmic together. I told DH that we were dining at the Brown Derby and he said, Ive been to the one in Vegas and youre going to hate it, it was crap."
What? And we are spending two "free" dining credits to eat there!!!!!!
I had very low expectations to say the least.
We drove over to MGM and parked. We decided to take the tram instead of walking to the gate because K needed to get the whole Disney experience!
Upon entering the gates
..even though it was MGM, not the best park to start first, she was impressed with her first ever Disney park. The finger scan was also very interesting to her, but more on that later.
We headed straight over to The Brown Derby.
We met up with Ks friends M & J, and waited for our table. It was only about 5 minutes which was great because I was thirsty and starving! The Happy Coke and $2 Pringles at 37,000 feet was over 4 hours ago.
The CM said, Follow me. Keep following. Right this way?
What? Was I headed for Siberia
..again?
Nooooooo, he took us to a private room in the back of the restaurant!!!!
How did they know this was my first trip away from kids? And K, M and J dont have any kids so theyre a tad less tolerant of little ones making a fuss at a two credit dining establishment. This private room was just perfect for us!
Lets just say, I loved the Brown Derby.
Except for the layer of Dust on the blinds. Look closely behind my DIS-lime-green shoulder. Just don't breath deep. You might sneeze!
What a happy looking group.....too much wine, I guess!
The think BD Mousekeeping was keeping the dusty look in case they were going to celebrate Halloween at the Brown Derby soon.
Didnt matter, good times and great food/drink.
I think this was my best meal of the trip. I had, the seared sea scallop with barbecued pork rib belly and corn relish for an appetizer. Pan-fired grouper on balsamic roasted asparagus with lemon-butter sauce topped with Bermuda onion marmalade. And for desert the Grapefruit cake. It was truly to die for!
I remember, because I asked the CM if I could have the menu
So, thankfully DH was wrong with his prediction about The Brown Derby. And I will definately take him there next time we are together at Disney.
On the way out, we explained to the CM in charge that it was a little dusty in the back room.
When we walked by the window of our little room on the way to Fantasmic, it was now empty, with major swiftering happening!
YAK and company to the rescue!
We secured our YAK.I.P. seats to Fantasmic, and it was as great as I remember. Except the long Pocahontas part. Dont really remember that. And I thought that all the characters ride past on the boats, not just the prince and princesses? Oh well.
But I did get a mad skillz photo of the water-on-fire (and a bunch of back of guests heads)
We offered M & J a ride in the YAK Express back to their hotel Caribbean Beach, mostly because we were interested in looking around.
After, we headed back to POP to our first Maelstromer encounter, at the Hippy Dippy.
