The Magical YAK Express. Eeeny, meeny, miney, mo....which car should we chose, I don't know! So when did rental car companies start handing you a piece of paper and telling you to go pick yourself a vehicle, the keys are in them?
Upon arrival we picked up our bags and went right over to the Alamo car rental desk. We chose Alamo, because I had a coupin!
K doesn't "do" buses or public transit very well and we had a 4:40 ADR to get to, so no Magic Express for us. Our Magic Express was me driving the YAK Express. No screaming kids, anxious adults (well maybe two) and a immediate departure from Orlando airport!
Of course, when the rental agent told us to go pick a car we immediately thought of Steve Martin in "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" Funny, funny movie but if you are given a piece of paper and told to go get yourself a car....and there are none...not so funny.
Much to our delight, there were many cars to chose from. And we tried out several! We had to get the right YAKage, cargo space, comfort, tune-age capabilities (music) and a possibility of cramming ICF's into the back to transport them at any given time. I think ahead!
Since I was an old pro at navigating around Orlando because I was here two short months ago, we made a quick stop at THE S-U-P-E-R Wal-mart for a few extras. Super!
We were finally heading to WDW. I was trying to explain to K all about it since to her Orlando was pretty much looking like any other city....except with palm tree's. I was YAKing on about such trivial points like, there isn't any chain-link fences around the park, they have their very own bus system (that we wouldn't be using

) there are a bunch of huge hotels, but not in a Las Vegas way....blah, blah, blah. I'm sure K didn't have any concept of what I was YAKing on about until she saw this:
(Notice, no bugs!!)
She wanted to stop. And take a picture. I told her that only Newbies stop. We laugh at those people stopped on the side of the road. No time. You have to take the picture while moving. We have a hotel to go and check into....now!
I think she did pretty well with the photo skillz, considering it was her first attempt at photographing at high speeds.
However, before even thinking about checking in, I had to call our "Ship's Captain" of the S.S. Maelstrom and writer of "B&B - A Viking Tale" - Sheridac to tell her I arrived safely. She was at MK, and upon receiving my call she screamed YAK into the phone. I thought maybe she was riding It's a Small World at the time and saw something that excited her! She was excited, but I think it was to hear from me!! It was like we were long lost friends.....and the first of many YAK assaults on my ears.

I told her our plans for the evening and we agreed to meet at the Hippy Dippy Pool bar later.
K was very curious about the Pop Century. I had explained that we were going to stay in a Value Resort and by Value that mean't the cheapest (inexpensive) hotel type on property. I would have loved to stay at a deluxe.
Hi, my name is YAK. And I'm a resort snob!
But, I was at POP for a few nights in July and really enjoyed it. I was very nervous that she wouldn't like it and therefore would leave a bad impression of the start to her first Disney vacation.
Once we walked through the sliding doors, K said, "Wow, this is certainly nothing like I expected"
Uh oh!
"It's really nice. No Motel 6 here...."
Whew!
Up next: Grand Gathering.....my YAK!
