Things that everyone seems to love but you hate??

Trips to New York City. I live in one of the other boroughs (not Manhattan), but I just don't understand the draw of the city. I actually HATE the city! It's always so crowded with tourists who just walk so slowly. Haha, you can tell who's a New Yorker and who's not because the real NYers just weave in and out of the masses of people. I also don't like using the subway and then walking everywhere because you can't find parking. I don't understand how they have the trips to NYC as prizes in contests. I'd take WDW over NYC any day and not just because I live here.

(Of course, it's not to say I hate the idea of the city ... everything available to you, open late at night like Pommes Frites and other good food places ... but once I get there, all I want to do is go home!)

I just saw this post and had to say that I ate at Pommes Frites about 15 years ago! It's still open? That is quite a testament considering the longevity in the restaurant business. I couldn't believe the number of people ordering huge steaks for dinner at 11:00 p.m.!

Oh wow, is there a restaurant by that name? Haha, I didn't even know. I'm talking about a frites shop. It's really tiny on 2nd Ave. They just have fries with a ton of different choices in dipping sauces.

And just to stay on topic, I don't like Christmas presents. I know that sounds weird, but I just wish that Christmas weren't all materialistic. That's why I prefer Thanksgiving because it's good food with family and no awkward "Thanks! It's just what I wanted!"

I am with you 100%. I do not take anyone seriously until they've actually tried something. I understand when people say they don't like something because it grosses them out though... i.e. I hate mushrooms, I think they're gross, I've tried them though (accidently) but if I hadn't I still hate them because they're disgusting!

But I know someone who would go on and on about hating Harry Potter until a guy she liked (who she's now engaged to and marrying in July) wanted to take her to see HP and the OOTP when it was released, he found out she hadn't read them and loaned her his books to read and she did because she liked him... turns out, she LOVED the books! She even looks a lot like Emma Watson so she dressed up as Hermoine for Halloween 2008, as did a bunch of people... dress up as HP characters, I was Cho and DFiance was Cedric. Her DFiance was Fred and his twin was George :)

I don't like seafood because it grosses me out but I've also tried it, most of my seafood tasting was at WDW in 2008 but I just didn't like it enough to overcome the grossness. I like vegetarian sushi without seaweed though but then it's just rice and vegetables which is still good but nothing exciting.

But as to the... I totally agree! People say they hate Lindsay Lohan and they don't understand why people ever hire her but then I ask them if they've ever seen her in a movie? She's actually a really good actress! A lot better than most at the least and although I'm not the biggest fan of her music and I don't love the things she does but she's a good actress.

I still will always hate LOTR with a passion, I've tried. I watched the end of number 3 and I've tried to start the series a few times but I just can't finish it... it's not my thing. But if there's a 18 inning baseball game on... I'M THERE!

I have to admit to being a wimp about Carrot cake never tried it but it sounds :rolleyes1 coffee tried that even tried a mocha but the taste makes me want to throw up (mind you I like the smell of a good coffee) Watched a few chick flicks but they all seem the same and I watched Titanic but have not watched any film made before or after by James Cameron.

Oh yeah, forgot about COFFEE! Hate it with a passion, but like the smell. Also hated Titanic.

I'm the same way with onions and green peppers. (I can eat them in *some* food, but not most.) I love the smell of onions and green peppers cooking. Not the taste so much. :upsidedow

Star Wars - I tried so many times to watch these movies all the way through but they just didn't catch my interest.
Lord of the Rings - Saw the first one and just wasn't impressed it was boring.
Violent Horror Movies - Don't like to watch people get chopped up or injured for no reason. I do like Horror movies with a plot and edge of your seat action. I really don't mind some violence that has to do with the story line but when your just hurting people for no reason but shock value I don't find that entertaining.

I have read every word of all 4 Twilight books and seen the 1st movie. Ignoring the whole anti-feminist-I-need-a-man-to-think-for-me/to-live-for- vibe, they are just poorly written and edited. Actually they get worse as the series progresses. I didn't see the 2nd movie because I can't stand the thought of giving Stephenie Meyer and her victorian-vamp-mormon beliefs one more penny.

Harry Potter, on the other hand, I adore. J.K. Rowling should retire to a cave for prayer and fasting every time she is favorably compared to that adverb abuser Meyer. It makes me sad to think that a whole generation of kids are growing up with these books as examples of literature.

i've read the twilight books and i'll agree with you. they're not very well written, and there's not really any characters that i think anyone can associate themselves with. the movies are a good laugh if you want one tho.

i hate when JK is compared to SM too. there IS no comparison...at all!

Do you mean to tell me that with all of your years here on the Dis you have never seen one of those hideous bags?

lol, all of the years on the DIS and I don't go to Disney either! I guess I'm not NORMAL!!

I also wanted to add to my list:

Alcohol and drunk stories

New Years Eve (UGH)

Georgia.....

Call me weird but I don't get the Animal Kingdom Lodge or Animal Kingdom. Just doesn't speak to me.

Also on my list are:
Carrots
Coffee
Pirates of Caribbean
Roller Coasters
Baggalinis

I would also like to mention that one thing I love that most people hate is the dentist. A little perspective on how strange I am! :rotfl:

Harry Potter
True Blood
Stephen King
Diet Dr. Pepper
Lord of the Rings
The Office
American Idol
Walmart
Twitter

Should have added that I don't like coffee or salad! How many people don't like salad?????? I would be one of them!

red and white wine....seems like everyone I know drinks either red or white wine of some kind. I have tried many times and can not get used to the taste. I think I'm the only one left that drinks white zinfandel!

The Cheddar soup at Le Cellier. Yuck!!

Polar Express & Gone With The Wind- In my opinion two of the most boring and over hyped movies.

Beer (hey, maybe one the reasons that I didn't like the Cheddar Soup)

Fantasmic

Tom Cruise. Even before he went all weird and jumped on the couch I just didn't get it. He's not sexy at all :crazy2:

ITA!!!! He is creepy!

Also:
Ranch Dressing
Hooker Boots with Gauchos or Capris
Titanic
Braveheart
Most Hip Hop Music
Kevin Costner
Alfredo
Mayo

LOL - I'm a white zinfandel drinker myself! I also don't like beer.....YUCK!

haha! Also not a huge fan of beer....I will drink it occasionally with pizza or something, but I don't really love the taste.

Home decor. Any HGTV-type endeavor. I am sure I am completely alone on that. Maybe it comes from my living with 3 men and 2 dogs. I'm lucky if I can keep my house neat and reasonably sanitary, I don't have time to worry about whether it's pretty!

Plus...and this is just the way I am.... I would just rather spend my time and money leaving the house.

I thought of one more. I don't know how I forgot it in my first response. But one thing I hate that everyone seems to love is:

Target :duck:
