They've ruined the Weather Channel

I can't remember if they still do those or not during those shows. I haven't watched many of them.

Am I the only one who ever pays attention to the fact that 90% of the time the gals on The Weather Channel are pregnant? I think it's so funny! I swear even when I was younger every time I turned that channel on the girl doing the weather was pregnant.

Maybe that's why they show so many other programs...they are making babies. :rotfl2:

Since many of us don't actually watch the Weather Channel, it might be useful to overview what the programming the channel presents actually includes:

  • Full Force Nature
This half-hour series delivers the visually stunning weather clips viewers just can't get enough of.
  • It Could Happen Tomorrow
"It Could Happen Tomorrow" will take you back to nature's fury of yesterday and take you into the future to examine what nature might have in store for tomorrow.
  • Storm Stories
Historical reviews of hurricanes and other tropical storms.
  • Tornado Road
Each week, three teams of storm chasers will follow a tornado on its path of destruction, all in the hopes of dissecting the power and force behind these amazing storms.
  • When Weather Changed History
When Weather Changed History uncovers how weather has impacted historical events.
So all the programs are about weather.

The network is not named "The Weather Forecast Channel", so concerns about the name of the channel are not really even on target, even if you did believe that the name of a channel meant that the channel was in some way prohibited from presenting anything other than what would be described by the name.

The Weather Channel isn't named "The Weather Documentary Channel" either. What you have written after the weather forecast channel remark is so convoluted (purposely, I assume) that it makes no sense. But I will try and decode. You are saying people shouldn't make assumptions regarding programming based exclusively on the name of the network (?). I think you miss the point entirely. I believe people in this thread are simply bemoaning the loss of "The Weather Channel" as it used to be, I don't believe the issue is the name of the network. :)

No, rather it is named "The Weather Channel" which means that, even if there was some obligation on the part of a channel to slave themselves to programming that fit the channel's name (there isn't any such obligation, but even if there was...) the programming that they present does fit with the name of the channel.

What you have written after the weather forecast channel remark is so convoluted (purposely, I assume) that it makes no sense.
On the contrary: It makes a lot of sense, and it is iron-clad -- carefully worded so that it doesn't include any erroneous or baseless assertions, nor leaves any loop-holes open to make it easy for someone who just doesn't like the programming on The Weather Channel to pick nits to try to distract from the point I made. I'm sorry if you find that distressing, but the general manner in which people in some online threads have responded to threads about this very topic make it such that wording the points I've made carefully, to preclude confusion and misunderstanding, is necessary.

I think you missed comments by some posters -- comments which my comments, which you're trying to respond to now, were in direct response to:
I agree! They may as well change the name
Remember, when all these channels were showing the programming they were supposed to
Please respect their right to actually take issue with the name/programming combination, as I do by responding to it in the manner I did -- disagreeing but respecting.
