~~ They're leaving the nest, sew it's time for a trip - or two - or three...~~ D~'s bag ~9/22 ~~

I'm just stopping by to tell you that our trip is going fine.
Our days are going fast. We try to be on our way by 09.00AM then we are driving and looking at stuff until 6-7PM when we start looking for a place to stay for the night. When we have got a room for the night we go out to get some dinner. After we have eaten it's back to our room to prepare the route for the next day and to go on the internet and look up stuff we have been wondering about during the day. I also check my e-mail and facebook to see if there are any message from home regarding my mail or anything else I need to fix. We trying to get to bed by 11.PM so we are ready for a new day.

I got over my Jetlag on Tuesday this week. So now my head ache is back to normal or actually not as bad as normal back home. Which is a good thing.

We are ahead of schedule. We had some great days in Seattle with a lot of fun with old and new friends. From Seattle to Portland to find the worlds first geocache. On our way to Portland we got stuck in traffic so the journey took longer than planed. We stayed in Hood River, Oregon. The next day (Tuesday) we went to Wallowa, Oregon where we spent the night. Today we wanted to drive to Hell Canyon, Oregon, but on the way we came to a sign saying it was a 3 hour delay on the road to the observation point. And then we had to drive the same road back again with 3 hours delay to continue our journey to Ontario, Oregon. Tonight we are staying at a Motel 6. We have done laundry for the first time. We also went to a Walmart to buy some stuff. Tomorrow we are heading to Salmon, Idaho.

Glad Dr Google was helpful for you. I find it helpful sometimes and just plain scary other times!

Oh I know... Dr. Google can be very scary. I am usually pretty cautious about how I google and what exactly I google... Otherwise it can be down right awful. :thumbsup2

Lillian!!! I am so happy to hear from you - I've been wondering how your trip is going. I am so happy that you've been able to see some great things, meet old/new friends, and even get stuck in traffic.... Sounds like you are having fun! I am also very happy to hear that your headache is less than normal... Do you know why that is?

Thank you so much for checking in - it's wonderful to hear from you. Take care - and I am so excited to see you soon!

*************************************************************************************************

So, yesterday, I had a good day...

I worked out right away in the morning and had breakfast.

Then I went upstairs to work for a few hours. I was able to get quite a bit done - which is always good.

I also took some time to go through my "Disney pile"... Not the clothing pile - the everything else pile... Which is quite large. I have entirely too much Disney travel stuff... I always save all of my travel sized items (Disney and non)... Would you believe that I have a large Disney World bag FULL of that sort of thing? Seriously. Plus another bag with our Disney ponchos (we've reused trip after trip) and our cooling towel thingies... Also a small over flowing box of Tees/skirts that have been made and given to us by friends, or made by me. Most of these shirts are entirely too big on me - but I am not sure what to do with them? They were gifts and they really mean something to me - ya know? Maybe I can make something else out of them?

After organizing that mess... I started to get ready to venture out for the day.

Victoria wanted to stop at Michael's for a few new colored pencils.

Then we went to her appointment.

Afterwards, we were going to go to Valley Fair - but it was raining... So we went to the mall and shopped. We really didn't buy anything - except air fresheners for my car... It doesn't smell the best after sitting in the summer sun for those weeks. ::yes::

We had a great time - it was just a really good day all around.

We had tacos for dinner when we got home and then we watched a movie while we all played on our tablets.

Today...

It's a heavy lifting day for me.

Then I'll be working all day long - appliqueing... My favorite day. ::yes::

Not sure what's for dinner tonight?

But I'll be running tonight too.

I hope you all have a great day! Prayers and good thoughts go out to all of you! :grouphug:

Have you thought about making a quilt with those items that no longer fit but that have sentimental value? We had a quilt made for our oldest daughter when she graduated from high school, out of all of her track, cross country, and softball team t-shirts, with one of her jerseys in the middle. It's her favorite possession. She just got home in April from an 18 month church mission to Honduras and we're having another quilt made with some of the clothing she wore, t-shirts she bought there, some fabric she fell in love with, etc. She loves quilts and uses them frequently, and this way she can keep those treasured memories without the clothing taking up valuable storage space. Just a thought!

Have you thought about making a t-shirt quilt? As long as you cut the shirts the same size you don't need to add a border between the shirts on the front, you could even do a double sided depending on how may t-shirts you have

i was going to suggest the same thing :)

Just checking in. Make a quilt out of the tee's!!!
Have a fantastic day!!!

Just stopping by to say hi. I'm glad you are doing so well with your running. We have an old railway which now a biking, running and walking trail. It runs from near my daughter's home to the next county where it meets up with another. Parts of it are rather hilly. I've walked parts of it but another part is in a rather unsafe area.
Sorry you didn't feel well enough to go to work the other day.
Nothing much is going on here just work. My daughter and her husband are going to Gettysburg and Williamsburg next month. I get to cat sit. they were going to take my car but decided against it because they're going to visit a lighthouse on an active military base and it's registered to me and they were afraid they'd have a problem. They're taking the camaro which doesn't get driven very far.
The t shirt quilt sounds like a good idea. If you're really ambitious you could alter some of them so they fit again.
Have a good day.

Checking in after years, decades, EONS away. Summer is tough.
The t-shirts are tough, I know. The quilt idea can be quite a large task, but so would modifying for a better fit. How do you feel about pillows? That's the quickest route - sew up the neck and arms (or not) stick a pillow form in there and then sew up the bottom - or square it off for a better look.
ANYWAY - trying to stay on track for training for WDW in just over a month. And trying to calm Cale as he gets really excited about all the Star Wars land talk from D23.

I'll try to check in more over here and I'm always lurking on FB.

The unanimous decision is to make a quilt:) lol...I've also seen them matted on cork board and used as wall decorations for a themed room. Glad you got your exercise in and got to sew! I've struggled to get much done besides getting my classroom organized. Oh Valleyfair...we've still never been. The kids and I are coming to stay up at MOA in November though:)

Thanks! I am really enjoying it... It's one of those things - while I am out there, I am thinking 'what are you doing?" But any other time - and I am so excited about it. LOL I guess this is normal?

OOoh - that sounds like a fantastic trip! One I've always wanted to do! I hope they have a great time, and you have fun cat sitting. How are your kittens doing?

RUTH!!!!! It's been so long! I know- I've stayed caught up with you a little bit on FB, but I love seeing you here too! :lovestruc

Oooh - I like the pillow idea, quick/easy...

I know - the new announcements are awesome! Honestly, I am more excited about TSland than I am about SWland. ::yes::

Now... For the rest of you... LOL A quilt???? I have no time! I wish I did. Maybe some day I will - but for the next year +, I am out of time. LOL If you saw my list, you would be shocked... Honest. Maybe once the girls are off to college and I need to new purpose? :scratchin You guys crack me up. But I love you all to death. ::yes:: Thanks for the ideas!

It's been a busy few days here...

Working out... Thursday and Friday's workouts... (FYI... My Thursday run, my Garmin was acting up - so the time/pace are inaccurate)

2015-08-20_19.00.41.jpg

2015-08-21_09.17.44.jpg

And working in general...

Driving everywhere... LOL

It's been a little hectic... but I love it and I love having the girls here for the last few weeks before school starts.

I am having serious issues with this being Allison's Senior year... You guys - seriously... It was just last week, I was walking her into kindergarten with her LLBean backpack, pig tails and her little Gymboree coat... Time has gone much too quickly and I am soooo not ready for this chapter in my life!

Speaking of Allison - she has decided not to quit her job at Starbucks... Even though she is frustrated about many things... She was chosen for a pretty large pay increase right before she left, and she's decided that no matter where she goes - she would not come close to making that much... So, she has decided to stay and make the best of it. For the record... I've been working for Target for 9 years now, and Allison only 1 year... And Allison makes a considerable amount more than I do. :thumbsup2

Victoria took Coopie to the park last night... I LOLed when I realized she took a picture of him in the weeds - but he's cute so I am posting it anyways. ::yes:: His birth family has his sister (Daisy) for the weekend... So, I am looking forward to seeing pictures of her on FB, I wonder how much they are a like in manner and looks...

Snapchat-8601494345341107074.jpg

Last night, I met Allison's friend Marah's mom for (decaf) coffee... It was so fun! We sat and talked for hours. We've decided to get a walking pass at the high school this winter - hopefully it will help us get out of the house once in a while. We were both shocked and embarrassed that we haven't met for coffee in over 2 years! Life just kind of got away from us.

Today... It's a day off from everything. :woohoo: No working out, no sewing - yet (maybe later?)... But do I get to relax? Nope. LOL

Victoria asked me a few weeks ago to take her and her friend Vicki (yes, I have a V & V today ::yes::) to Valley Fair today... So, I'll be following them around there.... Riding a few rides as I feel like it. It should be a fun day - we plan to pack a lunch and spend most of the day there. :thumbsup2

Tomorrow is my "long run" day... Hehehe... But it's technically not a "long run" at the moment. Since I started this new 10k training, tomorrow is 2 miles... Which I've done routinely for a few weeks now... But, I guess there's a purpose to everything? So, I'll take a short long run - since the longer runs are coming. ::yes::

I hope you all have a great weekend! Prayers and Pixie Dust to all of you!

Hi D.

I checked out the Jeff Galloway 10k after you mentioned it on the DIS. I "graduated" c25k and wanted to start c210k but it was so intimidating. I too want to do a Disney race, hopefully a half at some point. So I started the Galloway 10 k program at week 4 doing a 4 minute run with a one minute walk. I absolutely love it!!!! Thanks for mentioning it!! I actually feel like I could possibly achieve my goal of doing a half.

My son is a junior this year. I'm already getting the horrible feelings about him going to college. I try not to think about it BC when I do I want to cry! It's so hard to let them go do their own thing!

Have a great weekend and enjoy your run tomorrow!!

Galloway and then Hal Higdon 1/2 and full marathon are my favorite training plans! I still can't stress how proud I am of you! I literally started running at my running partners walking pace but hey I was moving! My speed never really increased a ton because of the miles. If I focused on shorter distances I know it would get better but I have big dreams! Super excited for Valleyfair for you! My cousin lives in Shakopee and works for Delta, she got bid and just told me she has Friday and Saturdays off now. So we will definitely be heading up Friday November 6th and staying for the weekend. Is the outlet you go to the one by MOA? I need new running gear since I've put on weight to get through the winter. Ugh your puppy/doggie photos break my heart. I want to get one for the kids but keep saying we have to wait until our house is sold and we move! Enjoy your weekend! Crazy just a few hours south and our weather for today is thunderstorms, with strong winds and possible tornados.

Hey D~
I'm not sure if you saw my response on my thread, so I just wanted to let you know that I think your transformation is AWESOME! :dogdance:

It's one of those things - while I am out there, I am thinking 'what are you doing?" But any other time - and I am so excited about it. LOL I guess this is normal?

Totally normal! You just described me too! Not that I'm 'normal'. ;)

They'll come soon enough. Right now you're building the base for your future distance and it's extremely important not to increase your distance too fast. Be patient and don't overtrain!

Have a beautiful day!

Today we have spent all day in Yellowstone National Park. We learned a lot about Yellowstone by solving some Earth Caches (a special geocache type where you have to answer some questions about geological phenomenon at ground zero of the Earth Cache) It was a fun day. We are staying in a town called Cody, Wyoming. Tomorrow we are going to Casper Wyoming.

I am impressed with Alloson making such a mature decision- I was definitely not that mature at her age. I remember walking out of one job because I didn't like one thing the new manager said to me! Good thing I've grown up or we would never be able to afford our Disney vacations! Lol

We have a Disney pile that is growing- of course my kids are growing out of their Disney wear each year....I also keep the shampoos from the resorts although we never end up using them because everywhere we go has shampoo! We are not campers or vacation house renters- but I keep saving all those shampoos. Should probably just stop buying shampoo and use all those up, but I'm not even crazy about the value Disney shampoo so I don't use it!!! Oy!

Our Disney survival kick has been watching Joe and Ashley vlog and my son- who is 6- has been obsessed with google maps for a year. It is scary- he finds his way from home all over the continent- and then finds his way back home! He recently learned how to drive to WDW which has been lots of fun. He is learning how to get around the resort- he will probably be able to navigate for us next time we go- scary!!!!

Have a fabulous day!!

I like everyone's quilt idea, but I also thought, if some of the shirts are things you'd still like to wear and are a fairly simply design, you could just take the sides in. Simple seam from the edge of the sleeve and down the sides (easier if it's a tank), trim off the excess and you're good to go! Just a thought!

Too funny,we have just recently started watching Joe and Ashley, See Ya Reel Soon!, on YouTube. It took some getting used to, but we have enjoyed watching their vlog as well. Helps cure those Dosney bless, especially when a trip is not in the plans....yet!

This is so awesome Loree!!! I am so glad that another program is working better for you! I love all of the suggestions I get here, everyone is so helpful! I know you can achieve your goal!!! Are we still planning to do RunDisney in 2017? I hope so!!! I have lofty dreams of doing a half-marathon. I am not sure I will ever want to do a full marathon, but I think I could do a half. ::yes:: <---- Oh no!!!! Wrong person - so sorry. I should know better than to do replies right when I wake up... I just saw "Tink" and thought Loree. Soooo sorry! :lovestruc

It's so hard... And so sad. I am not looking forward to the girls moving away from home at all.

Thanks! You too!

When I work up to training for the half, I will definitely look into the Hal Higdon training plans.

Thank you!!! Yes, I am still running at most everyone else's walking pace, but I hope that just naturally improves with time... Probably next spring, I'll start working on better paces - for right now, I am just enjoying the process, and the fact that my body can do this. ::yes::

OK - we must find a way to do a Dismeet while you are here! Promise me? That week will be very hectic for me - but I could easily squeeze out an hour to meet for a quick coffee or something. :lovestruc

Yes, the outlet I go to is in Eagan - Eagan Outlet Mall... ::yes::

Just wait until you see today's puppy photos. LOL

Yes, we did get some of that weather too... I didn't see if you got any - Hope all is well. :thumbsup2

I missed it... Thanks for giving me a heads up. ::yes::

Hehehe... Good. I was starting to wonder about myself.

I am just trying to enjoy the process right now, and have fun with it. I went on another trail yesterday, and I almost liked this one better. Again - I have no idea how it's maintained in the winter months... but this one is a bit more of a winding trail... A few hills (short and steep), and many more pedestrians.... I love people watching. So, this trial may get more use from me. It's a bit further from my house - but it's in the town I work in and the girls go to school in, so it's convenient. :thumbsup2

Thanks! You too! I hope you had a nice weekend.

Yes, I was quite shocked with her decision - I was not expecting it at all. I am glad she decided to stay though, hopefully she'll learn a lesson from this.

Hehehe.... Yes, my Disney pile is insane, truly. I am surprised Josh hasn't started complaining about it yet. LOL

I need to find Joe and Ashley... I've seen a few of theirs, but I ran out of time to keep up with them.

That is too funny! I love that!

You too! Thank you!

True - I could do that. :scratchin Thanks so much for the idea!

Hi Mike!!! I knew you were still out there! I hope you are doing well! :thumbsup2

*************************************************************************************************

I will be back in a little bit to edit with my quick weekend update... Josh has to add a program to the computer before he leaves for work. He decided to rebuild it over the weekend - and it's missing a few programs I desperately need to work this week. ::yes::

We had a really nice weekend.

I spent Saturday at Valleyfair with V and her friend. Even though it was supposed to be a rest day for me, I put on a few miles of walking.

Yesterday morning, I had to take Allison to town to meet Gus, so I decided to try out one of the trails there... I think I like it better... It winds around a bit more, there's a few (short and steep) hills, and lots more pedestrians... So, I might just keep going to this one, or alternating? We'll see - it also depends how this trail is maintained in the winter. I am hoping to find a trail that's maintained enough so that I can run. Over all - it was a good run yesterday. ::yes::

2015-08-23_11.08.58.jpg

After my run yesterday, I was dealing with my equalibrium being off again... I was a little scared, because I was in town by myself and running errands. I was fine if I was sitting/driving... but the minute I got up, I felt like I was going to spin and fall over. Josh thinks it's because I am not eating much before I work out/run... but to be honest - I never eat much (or anything) before I work out, otherwise it upsets my stomach. And yesterday, I'd had a banana - plus I was hydrating with water. I will see how it goes this week, I may need to get in to the Dr. for this?

Then I came home, at a substantial breakfast and fell asleep in my recliner. My mighty hunters fell asleep on the floor - they had gone for a walk in the woods while I was out running - so they were all tired. :lovestruc

20150823_151649.jpg

I had to go back to town yesterday to pick up V from her friend's birthday party... It sounds like she had a good time.

Josh made hamburgers on the grill... Mmmm... Love hamburgers. I made Haggerty potatoes on the side... Yummy! We make these all the time and it's the one thing that everyone loves - it's rare we have leftovers. ::yes::

After dinner, V and I went to the neighbor's house to see her puppies... They are soooo tiny... Cooper was never that tiny. LOL

So... That was our day yesterday.

Today... Well, Gus is in town this week - so I am sure him and Allison will be off and running all week.

I will be working out here shortly...

Then I will be in my sewing room all day... Hopefully it means all day... I have some side projects that I would be thrilled if they were finished today. ::yes::

Nothing really exciting otherwise.

I hope you all have a great day! Prayers and good thoughts go out to all of you! :grouphug:
