~~ They're leaving the nest, sew it's time for a trip - or two - or three...~~ D~'s bag ~9/22 ~~

I cannot believe i will see you chicks THIS WEEK!!!

Plus i miss my bag.. HA HA HA HA HA..

too much to do to sit on the Dis this morning.. talk VERY SOON!

The quilt looks amazing.

I can't believe your trip is this week! Can't wait to read / see where you are staying.

The quilt looks so cute! I love that giraffe pattern, my favorite animal :)

It seems like you HAVE been going 90mps for the last few weeks. I would say try and have a nice relaxing vacation at Disney, but we all know there isn't much relaxing in Disney lol But atleast its a FUN kinda busy!

Ok, spoiler alert...I think you will be staying at...

  • Beach Club Villas, or
  • Boardwalk Villas, or
  • Poly Villas, or GF Villas, or Wilderness Lodge Villas, or AKL villas or Old Key West Villas or Saratoga Springs villas...ooops or it could be Bay Lake Towers....
Did I moss any, anyway, Suzi gave it away by asking about laundry detergent! :rotfl:

You folks are going to have a blast! Remember to post LOTS and LOTS of PICTURES!!! I NEED PICTURES!

Wishing you all a MAGICAL trip!

It sounds like you had a nice last run before Disney!

In the end, I decided to bind it... I am very happy with how it turned out and I like the finished edge the binding gave to it - as opposed to the raggy edge I was considering.
20151108_144310.jpg
I love the purple! It really ties it all together! It looks so cozy:lovestruc

Enjoy the rest of your day, and have fun getting your nails done! :goodvibes

The quilt looks great. I hope we get to see a picture of the finished quilt as well.
Crossing my fingers that you got the costume order bag finished in the morning so you don't have to go back in your sewing room later in the day and finish it.

Today it has been very windy outside. But since I decided yesterday to go out and get some coordinates for a new geocaching I'm going to place out, I just had to get out in the wind.
I went down town and while I was there I decided to find a geocache as well. It was not a nice weather to be outside in especially since the cache was down by the sea and there it was very windy. It wasn't much better a block up from the sea, but I got the coordinates I need for now. I need to go back there another day and take new coordinates to decided which ones are the best. Hopefully it's better weather the next time I decides to go down there.

The quilt is so adorable! You had such a busy weekend -- I am in awe of how much you are able to accomplish in such a short time. So glad your sweet MM is feeling better....and jealous that you're going to Disney!!!!

I hope you have a safe and FUN trip!
I think $50 is more than enough to budget for food each day unless you are doing more than one TS a day.
I like the giraffe pattern on the quilt and can't wait to see the finished product. I think binding was a good choice as babies seem to really love rubbing the binding on their blankies! It is so kind of Myrthe's parents to bring the gifts back with them. When you first mentioned it I thought it must be cheaper to ship than to pay extra luggage fees, but $50 to ship?--yikes!
Going back a bit on your updates--I think you look amazing in your "skirt" photo. If you're are at a healthy weight, feel good, and are happy with what you see in the mirror, I see no reason to give any weight (no pun intended :-)) to the number on the scale. I'm so impressed with your focus on health and try to get takeaways from you. I try so hard to focus on health versus the number on the scale or calorie counting, but it is so ingrained in me that I automatically put my calorie count ahead of health--I'm all too willing to skip my vegetables if I'm craving ice cream. But, I will say that I know exactly how the scale will move if I do have the veggies AND the ice cream :worried:.
I'm so happy MM is well. I know exactly that thought process about the vet bill--get a number in your head and pray it doesn't go above it. They're just like babies in that it can cost more in medical care simply because they can't tell us how they're feeling.
I was xmas shopping at the MOA on Saturday and briefly wondered if I'd see you doing your shopping for Brian's family...
With Veteran's Day approaching, please pass along to your husband my sincere gratitude for his service to our Country. We wouldn't have what we do without people like him.
Again, I hope you have a wonderful trip and am looking forward to your trip report.

The quilt came our really nice. The colors are very pretty. Four hours is a long time to work on the binding. Although, I've never timed how long it takes me to bind a quilt.
My weekend was fairly quiet. I worked saturday and it was a typical saturday, busy. The photo lab crashed because someone sent thousands of photos i to be printed and some put cds in the dvd burner. Other than that, the day was fine.
Yesterday, I went to Target and Aldi's for food. You would have thought they were giving stuff away at Aldi's; it was so busy. i also did the wash and sort of straightened the house.
I think $50 a day should be plenty for food. After all, it's just you. I can't believe it's almost tome for you trip. I'm so exited for you. I have never tried the coffee in the rooms. I usually have a refillable mug and just walk over to the food court.
Have a good day.
Liz

Eek! It's getting so close. I'm so excited for you. I think it's so awesome that the resort will be a surprise. The quilt looks spectacular. What baby wouldn't love to snuggle up to that? I hope you get everything you need done. Happy travels.

So excited for your single digits! You guys are going to have an amazing time.

Your side by side picture is amazing! I have pretty much stopped looking at the scale and have started taking monthly progress pictures. Those darn numbers can be pretty depressing sometimes.

Yep....one of those ;)

The quilt looks so cute. Love the giraffes and the purple binding. I cannot believe you leave so soon. I hope you have an amazing time.

The quilt is adorable!

Don't forget to ask for the passholder discount if you buy a Vera pause, it's not much, but it helps!

Thank you! His full name is Hobart Higgins lol

I'll actually be in Disneyland while you're in Disney World! I think our trips overlap but opposite coasts!

Well, they had to cut the Wine and Dine Half to about 7 miles because of lighting but everyone got a medal. There was a lot of drama in the Facebook group I'm part of!

By the way, the quilt is so cute!

Love the quilt! Love the fabric you used for the binding-so perfect! I guess I'm not the only one who struggles with bindings.

My boss leaves for the board meeting the day I fly to Disney. We should be all wrapped up with the presentation but we've just started. They announced a reorganization today & fired 2 people so things are still pretty "messy" at work. I'm really looking forward to this break! We will have a long day tomorrow but I'm still hoping I won't have to go into the office Wednesday.

You don't have to post a long update with pictures. All you have to do is post a quick update which says something like "We're staying at ...............". And then some comment about the resort. I would like to know if you like having a villa. I love them and of course I want everyone else to love them, too.

I've run the numbers for the sampler and it just doesn't work out to be cheaper than buying each item separately. I think it might work if you bought a lot of alcoholic drinks, but we don't do that.

To tell the truth - I wouldn't bother buying basket filters. You can ask housekeeping for extra coffee packs. And the villa has a ten cup coffee maker, so one pot might be enough for two people. I only bring mine from home because we already have the filters and I have this delicious organic Kona blend coffee that I like to drink.

Congratulations. I know it is hard to get out in the winter. I never made it out this weekend.

The binding always takes forever since it is so long.

Congratulations on getting everything done this weekend.

I will check in, and let you all know where we are staying. I am so excited now to find out!

I totally understand - I don't drink a lot at all, so it probably wouldn't be worth it for me.

I will be asking for extra coffee, for sure... And I'll probably grab my bag of condiments when I am down in the food court, so I can have cream/sugar in the room. ::yes::

I am really happy with how the quilt turned out - I wish my lines in the center would have been straighter, but otherwise - I really like it.

Thank you - we are in crunch time now... :woohoo: So excited and nervous at the same time!

I cannot believe i will see you chicks THIS WEEK!!!

Plus i miss my bag.. HA HA HA HA HA..

too much to do to sit on the Dis this morning.. talk VERY SOON!

I know!!! Eeep!

I bet you do - I'll have it ready for you, it's been packed forever.

The quilt looks amazing.

I can't believe your trip is this week! Can't wait to read / see where you are staying.

Thanks!!!

I know! I am so excited too! I cannot wait to see... I wonder when I will actually know? Like when I am getting on ME? Or will Suzi keep me in suspense, and I"ll just have to get off the bus when she does? :scratchin

The quilt looks so cute! I love that giraffe pattern, my favorite animal :

It seems like you HAVE been going 90mps for the last few weeks. I would say try and have a nice relaxing vacation at Disney, but we all know there isn't much relaxing in Disney lol But atleast its a FUN kinda busy!

Thanks! I think V did a great job choosing that fabric. :lovestruc

Hahaha... I think Mo goes a lot faster than I do? LOL Thanks - yes, there is NO relaxing in Disney - IMO... but it's so much fun!

Ok, spoiler alert...I think you will be staying at...

Heheheehe... I was thinking the same thing. LOL

I am so excited! I just cannot wait! I never thought I would ever get to experience Disney with these girls - or at least - not any time soon... So this is just going to be incredible!

Thank you!!! I cannot wait to share it all with you!

It sounds like you had a nice last run before Disney!

I love the purple! It really ties it all together! It looks so cozy

Enjoy the rest of your day, and have fun getting your nails done!

I did have a good last run - I am debating on sneaking out for a short run this morning, rather than working out? I have not decided yet.

Thanks!!! I really like the binding on the quilt - I think it added a lot to it.

Thanks! I cannot wait to get my nails done. I used to get them done faithfully all of the time, but I've stopped doing it, in an effort to save funds for all of these trips... So, to be honest - I am probably more excited than necessary to get them done. I will share pictures this afternoon. :thumbsup2

The quilt looks great. I hope we get to see a picture of the finished quilt as well.

I do have pictures of the finished quilt - I barely remembered to take them... Shame on me. I took them with the quilt laying in the back of my car in the parking lot where I was meeting Myrthe's mom for lunch. LOL

I did finish my bag yesterday - so that's done... I just have to get it in the mail today... I hope I don't forget. :scratchin

It sounds like you had a great day yesterday! I hope the weather is better for you the next time you go down there. ::yes::

The quilt is so adorable! You had such a busy weekend -- I am in awe of how much you are able to accomplish in such a short time. So glad your sweet MM is feeling better....and jealous that you're going to Disney!!!!

Thank you... Yes, I am sometimes in awe of myself too... And shocked at how much I can get done if I set my mind to it. LOL

Me too, it's such a relief to have him feeling better - then I don't worry so much on the trip.

I am so excited to finally get to go on this trip! :woohoo: And I am excited to write another TR.

I hope you have a safe and FUN trip!

Again, I hope you have a wonderful trip and am looking forward to your trip report.

Thank you! I sure hope so... I think there is one day we have more than one TS? But there is also a day or two with no TS... I sure hope I can stick to that budget... The problem is that there are so many must have snacks for me... Those add up. LOL

Yes... I never think ahead - and Myrthe is always on top of everything and very thoughtful - I am just not a thoughtful person and I tend to procrastinate a lot. But Myrthe and her mom are expert packers and they can make so much stuff fit into their luggage... Plus, since they are flying internationally - I think they get 2 checked bags per person? It makes things so much easier to send items back and forth with them, since they are here so often - I just have to remember when their last expected trip before Christmas is every year, so I don't miss my window of opportunity - this is usually where I have to scramble to get Christmas shopping done. ::yes:: The good thing though, is I am done shopping for them. LOL

Thank you... I feel like I have put on a bunch of size since even that photo was taken... I've been so careful about what I eat, but for some reason - I am getting bigger/more bloated, and I don't understand it? After I get back from Disney - I am really doing to crunch my numbers and try to figure out what is going on. It's very frustrating to me.

Hahaha... that would have been cool to bump into you... Sadly - we don't go to the MOA with Josh, unless we have to... And as a general rule - we avoid the MOA on weekends between Halloween and Christmas... It's just to much for any of us... Yet we can handle the crowds at Disney? :scratchin LOL But - had you been at the outlet mall - then you may have seen us - we were there for quite some time. ::yes:: I just love the new outlet mall... Mostly for the VB store. LOL

Thank you very much - I will pass that along to him. :lovestruc

And thank you - this time tomorrow, I will be at the airport... :woohoo:

Thank you Liz! :)

Yes - It sure felt like it took a long time to bind that quilt.... but I think it's mostly because I don't do it often enough to know what I am really doing - I think I could have been much more efficient at it. :scratchin

It sounds like you had a fun weekend... even if it was very interesting at work.

I sure hope that $50/day is enough... But I know I will walk past certain snacks and know that I cannot live with out them. LOL

Thanks - you too! :D

Eek! It's getting so close. I'm so excited for you. I think it's so awesome that the resort will be a surprise. The quilt looks spectacular. What baby wouldn't love to snuggle up to that? I hope you get everything you need done. Happy travels.

I know!!! I am very excited about everything! And I am surprised that it's still a surprise - I am certain that almost everyone knows where I am staying, except for me. :scratchin Even my girls know! But I cannot wait to find out.

Thanks - I am very happy with how it turned out! I wish a few of my lines would have been straighter, but oh well - I guess it's part of the charm of that quilt? LOL

Thanks! I finished my custom order yesterday - I just have to remember to mail it today... I do want to get up to my sewing room for a little while this morning and tidy up - I don't want to have to come home to a mess... but we will see if I actually find the time to get up there or not? :scratchin

Thank you!!! I am so exfited! :woohoo:

So excited for your single digits! You guys are going to have an amazing time.

Your side by side picture is amazing! I have pretty much stopped looking at the scale and have started taking monthly progress pictures. Those darn numbers can be pretty depressing sometimes.

Thanks!!! We are down to mere hours now!!! :woohoo: I cannot wait!

Thank you!! It's been a rough time for me over these last few weeks - I am not sure what is going on, but I am super bloated right now.... I plan to reevaluate when I return home from WDW, so by the time I go again in January, things are much better.

Yep....one of those

:lovestruc

The quilt looks so cute. Love the giraffes and the purple binding. I cannot believe you leave so soon. I hope you have an amazing time.

Thanks!!! I loved the fabric the minute that V chose it.... She did a great job!

Thanks!!! I am very excited - and a little nervous.... but we will have a great time!

The quilt is adorable!

Don't forget to ask for the passholder discount if you buy a Vera pause, it's not much, but it helps!

Thanks Stephanie!

I won't forget - I am super excited to have some sort of discount to apply to something in Disney. LOL I just hope I can find a good Perfect Petals pattern placement... I will be looking hard.

CUTE! I love it!

That is so cool - it's too bad we can't meet. LOL

I totally missed that part! I wasn't following the W&D news as much as I wanted to be, because I was so busy trying to finish up the quilt. Such a bummer for those runners - but better safe than sorry.

Thank you! :lovestruc

Love the quilt! Love the fabric you used for the binding-so perfect! I guess I'm not the only one who struggles with bindings.

We will have a long day tomorrow but I'm still hoping I won't have to go into the office Wednesday.

Thanks Bernadette! I love that V chose the fabric for this one - it's so cute and she did a great job! Yes - those bindings are a nightmare... I wasn't going to bind it at all - I was just going to leave it raggy, but Josh talked me into it and said he would really appreciate it if I took the time to do the binding... So, he was kind enough to take the girls out to work in the yard, so I didn't feel so guilty for working while everyone else was "playing"... In the end, I am glad I took the time to bind it - because I like it so much better.

Yikes - that is a bummer that things are still messy at work... but I am glad you are getting out of there just in time for a well deserved break. Hopefully things don't get too out of hand while you are gone.

***************************************************************************************

Ok all - it's crunch time!!!!

T minus 23.5 hours before I leave for the airport..... And, as usual - my day is crazy!!!!

Screenshot_2015-11-10-04-33-37.png

Believe me, I will be popping in all day with updates...

And my apologies in advance - likely I won't get my morning replies done tomorrow morning or any other morning while I am gone... but please know I am reading and following along.... Gotta make sure that you guys are on your best behavior - ya know? ::yes::

Before I forget... Pictures of the quilt (that I almost forgot to take)... Literally, I parked in the parking lot to meet Myrthe's mom and, I remembered to take pictures... So I laid out the quilt and took them...

Soooo... The plan for today...

The family is just waking up...

I plan to clean the house a bit while they are getting ready for school/work.

Once they leave, I will work out - and just get that out of the way. I was thinking of going for a run - but I am not sure yet?

After I work out - I will eat breakfast.

Then I will haul all of my luggage down to the living room - weighing my checked bag one final time on my way past the scale.

I will sort all of the make-up in the bathroom and get my stuff separated from the girls', so I don't have to try to do that in the morning.

After that - I will get ready for the day...

I have my mani/pedi this afternoon in town... I will probably have to wait to eat lunch until after I am done.

I will also have to kill a little time in town before the girls are ready to be picked up at school.

I have a Dr. appointment this evening across the metro, so I am headed straight for there...

Likely - I won't be home tonight until bed time... So, i will go straight to bed. Which means - everything of mine needs to be ready before I leave today, because I won't have the time or the mind to do it later.

I have a 2am wake-up call tomorrow... From 2-3am, I will drink my coffee/Disboard/FB... From 3-4am, I will be getting ready... and at 4:30, we will leave for the airport.

As much as I am soooo excited to go - I nearly break down in tears every time I think about leaving the girls behind... That part will be so hard for me - as this is OUR happy place, not just MY happy place... The only soothing part to all of this, is that I will be back with each of them in the next year... And I get to see Suzi, Mo and many others during this trip. :lovestruc

I hope you all have a marvelous day!!! Sending Prayers and Pixie Dust out to all of you! :grouphug: And please check back for random and live updates during the next week. ::yes::

D~

LOVE the quilt! Love the lime green & purple fabrics on the back. V did a great job picking out all the fabrics! I don't know that ragging the sides would have been much easier. You would have had to cut the channels first then sew around the edge before you cut the edge for ragging. I think you might have been a bit obsessed to be sure all the cut ends were sitting uniformly before sewing. Doesn't sound to easy to me.

Have a great day & safe flight! I think I've got a long day ahead of me. Then I've got to finish packing. I somehow misplaced the charger for my camera battery.:scared: I haven't look anywhere else yet but it wasn't in the bag it should have been in. Hopefully I'll have Wednesday off to solve any last minute "emergencies".

D, I'm so excited for you!!! My husband and I were at WDW the same time last year. It was hard to not bring the kids, but we had so much fun. You're going to have a great time!!! I can't wait to hear where you are staying! The Christmas decorations are incredible! Have a blast!!!!! ~Niki

PS: You inspired me to start a quilt for my Dad using his Marine Corps t shirts. The baby quilt is beautiful!!
