They found him innocent

Wow. The jury found my DH cousin innocent of the murder and burning of his wife. The prosecution botched bigtime.

IF he is innocent (which, I personally doubt), how does he go about rebuilding his life---reuniting with kids he hasn't seen in 9 1/2 months, reacting to a town where probably half believe he is guilty?

His wife's name was totally drug through the mud in the name of his defense, which is disturbing because, whether or not the stuff is true, she is not here to defend herself or her name.

Whether he is guilty or not, someone has gotten away with murder.

Yikes. Is he coming to the family reunion?

Well, the fact that you're a family member and aren't convinced he's guilty tells me the jury reached the right conclusion. That's not saying he's innocent, but it sounds like the jury did the right thing. It's the prosecution's job to PROVE murder.

I'm sorry though, it does sound like someone got away with murder and it makes me angry when they drag the victim thru the mud.

IMO, that's what happened in the Blake trial. They had the jury hating his wife and he walked.

I am truly sorry! :grouphug:

Actually, I am pretty convinced he did it. I do have to add the obligatory "IF" to my posts, though.

How old are the children? If they are minors, it's awful to think he would end up with custody of them.

An attorney once told me that there's a saying in the American legal system that goes something like this: "Better for 10 guilty men to go free than for 1 innocent man to be convicted."

It may not be much consolation for your murdered cousin-in-law or the rest of her family, but perhaps justice will be served in civil court...or even in greater ways unrelated to our courts.

Prayers to you and the rest of the family.

I've read your story before and I am very sorry - :grouphug:

I know that you had hoped to find closure and peace for his kids - I know this does not do that

and I am sorry that your cousin's name was dragged through the mud - it seems so cruel to be murdered and then have your dirty laundry aired in public - as if you somehow deserved what you got

No, they found him not guilty.

My father, the retired policeman, always used to say "Not guilty does not mean innocent".
