They found availability in Value for me for Free Dining

I called on Monday to see if there was any availability in any of the Value resorts for Free Dining for dates 9/6/08 thru 9/13/08. I was told there was nothing available in any of them. They booked me into Carribean Beach, have never stayed there, we always stay at a Value. I took the ressie with the stipulation that we would not pay the actual deposit until June 30.
I called yesterday to cancel the entire ressie and happened to ask if any of the Values had anything available and the person I spoke to found something at the All Star Music, standard room, free dining, 6 day hopper pass, everything I had originally wanted. The price was $342 less than the moderate. I don't know if by telling him I wanted to cancel made a difference, but I got what I wanted. I still have until June 30 to pay the deposit.
Sounds to me like Disney might be starting to feel the pinch from the tough economic times and they will make availability before they loose an entire reservation. Maybe I am being simplistic, but that is just my opinion.
So if you are waiting and hoping for a Value, give them a call and see what will happen for you. I certainly am happy with the little bit of "Pixie Dust" that came my way yesterday morning.
Now I just have to find a way to get there without completely breaking the bank. SW hopefully will offer a good Ding for my time frame.

I have a feeling this is why you found room availability.

I am glad you got what you were hoping for,but I doubt Disney invented a room for you.

It is very likely that a fellow would-be traveler just couldn't swing a trip. Either airfare or the package cost itself.

I agree. I think a lot of things are going to "loosen up" soon. Many people are beginning to really feel the pinch of the high cost of living, and they're getting double-punched with not only the fuel prices, but groceries, and I think some folks definitely will cancel. It probably won't be enough to hurt Disney--the Brits are coming over in record numbers! Gotta love 'em. (I'm a secret Anglophile...)

I also got ASSports and just called 3 days ago. I really wanted CSR but this sure saved me bunches of money.....

How strange....I think it was Tuesday that I booked our stay there...3 days starting on Sept 6th and had my choice of a couple resorts (Pop & Music). I wonder if they just didn't have the last few days available (since your stay is longer than mine). But it seems like everyone gets told different things too...
