They canceled FP's AGAIN!

a couple weeks to implement that plus the one time code to change
You'd be great as a software manager. Not so happy as a software engineer who actually has to implement these impossible schedules. I'd want a week just to do the release testing.

Though I realize your point was that it would take more than a few days.

The rule is if a non-party guest gets into an attraction line before 7 p.m., they are allowed to ride.

Plenty of CMs try to dissuade people from getting in line that late and a handful will tell guests they can't get in that line, even though that is completely wrong.

Good to know. My trip in October has 2 parties out of my 4 nights. And i have to go to Epcot on Thursday night because of the lower crowds. So I might be forced to go to MK on a party day. This is good information. You are sure, I can push the issue with my party of 8? I would love to enter at 6:55.

After spending $2200 on WDW tickets and $650 on DLR tickets. I won't be buying any party tickets. So I think I am going to go explore MK during that Hazy hour of 6-7 between the close of the park and the party. Then I will head over to Trader Sam's to relax.

The one exception I know of is Princess Fairy Tale Hall when the princes would be meeting with the princesses at the party. The CMs would cut off the line by about 6:30 so all the non-party guests would be through the line before the princes were brought in.

But for rides you should be fine, though with a group as big as yours, I'd probably aim to be in the last attraction line by 6:45 to avoid any sort of misguided hassle.

Side note, you will LOVE Trader Sam's. We've been there a couple of times and it is truly a blast.

Thinking about it more, it's probably was a quick change :) They probably used a pre-existing option to move everyone for something like an unexpected ride closure which is why everyone got a different ride with similar thrill level. To stop new fast passes, its just mark the database with fake fast passes during the times they don't want to give any out. That's probably all the code they added. Hopefully now they have a full "move everyone to the same ride, different time" option.

I manage a lot of rapid fire projects for someone but agree, in this scenario, you need more testing time and can't do it the minimal viable change and let the customers be your testers.

I can think of several different ways to implement it. But the problem is often not the backend. The problem is creating the front-end, so that the administrator working for the MK manager can get into the system, change the park's schedule to indicate a hard ticket event and tell it to close out FPs a half hour before, or maybe for some events it would be an hour before, all without accidentally closing out the 9am FPs, as well as giving the admin a chance to recover after accidentally clicking Friday instead of Saturday night.

Honestly, this is just the sort of thing I meant when I said all along it was insane to run ride access through an obviously inferior Disney IT system.
How many times have you said that?

Near 6:30pm cast members start to appear furthest from entrance to let everyone know they need a wrist band or they should start to leave if they dont' have a party ticket. about 7pm they get a little more "time to go" and rope off the entrances to check wrist bands around the central hub. Generally by 8pm everyone has a band or left and they disappear but the CMs do watch for anyone that tried to be sneaky and stay for free all night.

7pm is non-party close and I believe they do the normal if your in line for a ride, you ride it before you have to leave.

Mmmmm.....not so fast. That may be true of a mid-September week day party, before the Mine Train came online, BUT, last year over Columbus Day, at 7pm the line for the 7DMT was 2 hours long. A good majority of those folks were day guests. It took a team of CM's to herd non-ticketed guests out, they were still actively doing so during the first parade and Hallowishes. They went about it like a bunch of baffoons, cancelling people's fastpasses like they did, but they have the right idea even though the implementation was atrocious. I agree with Missyrose and Mom2rtk that no one should have been able to book those time frames in the first place. This was an absolute "oops" on WDW's part. They'll be wiping egg off of their faces until after the first parties.

I was there sept-oct and nov-dec last year. I never went back by 7DMT that early and I can see that happening. Thanks for the info.

The wait time for the Mine Train at midnight was still 90 minutes, btw. Just throwing that out there.

Is that what it said or how long it took? once I walked up and asked if it was really 60 minutes this late. I got a yes while they shook their head no. the wait was really 10 minutes.

More dishonesty. They do this at TSMM too.

I don't consider that one dishonesty. Similar circumstances has been used at a variety of kid friendly places and it's really helped me convince my daughter it was time to leave. once you know the system, you can use it to your advantage.

So what time is it ok for them to cut rides and FPs off to day guests? I think 645 for FPs is fair (gives you 15 min to get through the ride). Maybe 630 the earliest. And how are they going to deal with what the kiosks spit out for the 4th FP? How much more can they take away from day guests during party days? They are really trying to have their cake and eat it during party season.

How about Trickery, Subterfuge, Chicanery, Duplicity no matter how you spin it, it is deception. For grown adults, I don't need to be nudged to leave. Luckily, I am informed after being tricked before. Fool me once...

The line still wrapped around the rope outside of the ride, and spilled down the walkway. It was at least 45-60 of those 90 minutes.

You can't see how someone spending $5000.00 or more on a family vacation would want to vent if they are getting jerked around by the people selling the goods? Then I guess you don't understand yelp, tripadvisor, and the hundreds of other social media sites that give feedback and share experiences.

Disney built the Mine Train to attract guests, then they set up a ridiculous system to be able to ride it, then they changed their system without explaining. It has complaints written all over it. And for someone like me who books his stuff and lets it go, I'm not sure I would have paid much attention to the email right away. Also the people reading this know to call and get the cool FP.

Just curious, are you just chilling at POR with your cold ones, and then going to Universal during the day? I've done that at Kidani. Spent a trip at Disney resorts but enjoyed the FP+ free environments elsewhere. It is relaxing.

I "get" Disney. It's a two minute ride. No need to stress over a two minute ride. And I love universal too. Seriously pop by POR and pm me Sept 4-13. We will have tasty beer, wine and 12 year old scotch. You have fun! 5g for a vacation doesn't get ruined by Disney cancelling a fp.

I won't be there until Oct. have a great trip.

I agree, stressing over a two-minute ride is unnecessary.

Stressing over Disney expecting its guests to make ride reservations months in advance only for Disney to arbitrarily cancel them and then jerking its guests around on the other hand...

Don't misunderstand me, you're a remarkable human being for being so zen, and hopefully someday we can all be as chill as you, but until that day arrives, I don't think it's too unreasonable for someone to be irritated by subpar customer service from a company that prides itself on decades of excellent service.
