They canceled FP's AGAIN!

Curious to see if they put them back in the system again. I thought mine was bad until I saw that they split families up like that. Unreal. :sad2:

The CM thought that was really bizzare, too. I was the first person he had talked to where the FP+ they gave were spread apart and not even close to overlapping.

Yeah, not a lot of this makes sense. First they mess up the vacation accounts in a major way and then they do this with the FP's twice. I would love to know what is going on over there.

I'm curious as to what the safe cut off time would be for party nights to NOT make a fp

Yeah, anybody know what this is about??? Mine was for mine train on a MNSSHP night but the FP was for 545-645pm. I'm kinda mad cause I woke up at midnight to make it. Is the ride not going to be operational that day?

Justified!

Nothing says "Disney Magic" like canceling hundreds of FPs summarily, then reinstating them, then canceling them again, then leaving guests who booked them weeks ago little recourse except to call IT and wait 20 minutes or more just to get back to where they were at 60 days out.

Seriously, it is unacceptable to me that guests are encouraged to pay for their trips, then commit to dining choices months in advance and individual ride choices weeks in advance, but Disney can't, or won't, make even close to the same commitment in return. Not good Disney!

That seems to be the first line of defense when I call guest services. Before I can get my questions out, they say "sir, I can transfer you to our IT line and they can help you."

I too can understand why they would not want people to book between 6-7, but they should have honored them. Start fresh with the new groups coming on line each day. Disney should absorb the error, not the people forking out premium prices for tickets. Wow the arrogance.

Well, from another POV...it's better that they did it now when you still have plenty of time to pick something else for your FP+ than if they waited until the last minute to cancel them and all the 'good' fp+ for that day were unavailable.

Honestly and respectfully, I don't like this POV. Bad management all around. And Disney knows it, that is why they are giving out SUPER FPs. They should have done that upfront in the email too.

Sorry, we screwed up, we have to cancel your Advanced Ride Reservations for the following times. To make up for your inconvenience we have put into your account a Super-anytime FP that you can use whenever. Have a magical day, enjoy your trip.

I love the DIS.. These conversations are so darn entertaining. I'm so glad that a FP cancelation can inspire such angst. You just cannot make this stuff up. Keep it coming. My trip is in 27 days and the beer is ordered. You have a bad day then stop on by POR.

You can't see how someone spending $5000.00 or more on a family vacation would want to vent if they are getting jerked around by the people selling the goods? Then I guess you don't understand yelp, tripadvisor, and the hundreds of other social media sites that give feedback and share experiences.

Disney built the Mine Train to attract guests, then they set up a ridiculous system to be able to ride it, then they changed their system without explaining. It has complaints written all over it. And for someone like me who books his stuff and lets it go, I'm not sure I would have paid much attention to the email right away. Also the people reading this know to call and get the cool FP.

Just curious, are you just chilling at POR with your cold ones, and then going to Universal during the day? I've done that at Kidani. Spent a trip at Disney resorts but enjoyed the FP+ free environments elsewhere. It is relaxing.

I just logged into the MDE app and noticed my family has been given an anytime FP valid from 9a-7p the same day one of our other FP was cancelled! I didn't call to complain or anything. Did anyone else get pixie dust? I'm not exactly sure how it's supposed to work because it doesn't look like I can choose an attraction like with a regular FP. Does that mean we just show up wherever and whenever we want to redeem it?

If you click on the view details link under it, you can see who it's for and if it specifies a ride.

Honestly, this is just the sort of thing I meant when I said all along it was insane to run ride access through an obviously inferior Disney IT system.

Looks like they are listening to me. For all those that think Disney doesn't read the disboards, this is solid proof that they do. See post #67.
Everyone can pm me with their appreciation, we don't need to clog up the thread. :)

I think this whole situation is ironing out the last of the quirks that the system added in the first place. Sounds like in the future you just wont be able to get a fastpass for that time and it sucks it wasn't put into place prior to people getting some for their trip. I do like seeing that they at least changed to giving you the same ride and fixing up everyone that got a different fast pass.

Now, if everyone who got a fastpass change could report back later on how crowded the fast pass line was. I wonder if it's going to be like last year when toy story broke so often that anyone without a fastpass couldn't ride the entire day and fast pass had a 90 minute wait.

They will need to fix that next. :)

I'm not buying the glitch thing. Somebody at a Monday morning decided it would be a great idea to stop offering FP from 5:55-7:00. And...they implemented it. Now it is damage control. I am sure the phone lines have been going crazy since their first misguided email.

I would like to know if there was angst among the management.
Wednesday Morning Meeting: Cancel the FP from 5:55-7
Wednesday Afternoon Email: People are pissed. Maybe we should put them back.
Manager: OK put the slots back.
Thursday Morning Meeting: Let's go ahead and cut them. When people complain just give them a FP Super if they call. There won't be a lot of calls
Friday email: We are getting a lot of calls, they are mad.
Saturday morning report: Hey this guy on the Disboards has a good idea, we could just place a Super FP in everyone's account right now, then when they call. We can say, did you see your account? We already fixed it. Proactive.
Manager: Do it.

I doubt it was monday they decided this but didn't the vps of the parks change around a week or two ago and someone new is in charge of MK? I doubt they originally wrote the system to have blackout hours and it would take a couple weeks to implement that plus the one time code to change anyone who already had one..

Now, I think they still need to do damage control as many people in this thread did say they had party tickets for that day and they should really have their original time back :)

The only "glitch" in these cancelled FP+ reservation is that the system allowed people to book FP+ reservations that ended later than 6:30. I honestly do not believe the actual cancellations were in anyway a system glitch.

Well the Monday Morning Meeting was just a figurative example. But I agree, this was a conscious decision made recently by possibly new management. In the end it is a good idea, although it does cut a LOT of FP+ out of the system for people attending the park on that day.

On another note, does anybody know if they stop letting people in the ride at 5:55 too? Because it simply doesn't make sense to cut the FP+ line but still allow people to enter the Standby line at 6:55. The park experience on a Party day is truly like a half day experience. Very sad.

The rule is if a non-party guest gets into an attraction line before 7 p.m., they are allowed to ride.

Plenty of CMs try to dissuade people from getting in line that late and a handful will tell guests they can't get in that line, even though that is completely wrong.

Near 6:30pm cast members start to appear furthest from entrance to let everyone know they need a wrist band or they should start to leave if they dont' have a party ticket. about 7pm they get a little more "time to go" and rope off the entrances to check wrist bands around the central hub. Generally by 8pm everyone has a band or left and they disappear but the CMs do watch for anyone that tried to be sneaky and stay for free all night.

7pm is non-party close and I believe they do the normal if your in line for a ride, you ride it before you have to leave.
