Outside of Wolfgang Puck's is the movie theater, and I thought, "wouldn't it be great if EVERY theater in that building had a Disney movie?" Missed Nightmare Before Christmas in the theaters? No problem! What else do you want to see? Mary Poppins? You've got it! Monkey's Uncle? Of course!
I don't know how profitable it would be, but wouldn't it be the best to watch one of those old Disney movies with a theater of nothing but hardcore Disney fans? I think I'm going to go write to Disney right now...
The other thing I wonder is if you get dirty looks and/or snide comments from the staff if you go see a Dreamworks film. In reality, it's probably not even owned by Disney, so none of my fabulous ideas make any sense in the real world. But I can dream. And enjoy some theming:
This place was themed wonderfully, but inside, it was still nothing but candy. As I get older, I'm starting to realize that they were right when they said that a "Candy Mountain" at
Disneyland would probably just sicken guests. Don't get me wrong; I like candy, too, but not THAT much!
Speaking of excess, check out this place:
But that's ok, because Vinylmation does NOT make me feel queasy. Quite the opposite. They have EVERYTHING in here, including the gorilla one from AK that I passed up at the Contemporary the other night. Not missing that opportunity twice, so I snatch him up. They also have this shirt:
Next to it, in a display case, is the complete set of Star Wars Vinylmation. You know, the one I didn't know existed. Well, ignorance is bliss, because there's really little chance we'll ever see one of these for sale.
More theming:
"
BUY THE GORILLA VINYLMATION, JON!!!"
"Relax, big face of...um...who is that? The witch from Snow White? Yensid? Yeah, It's gotta be Yensid. But what about that wart? Does Yensid have a wart? I never really payed that much-"
"SILENCE! It's the witch. You were right the first time."
"Sorry. Anyway, I'm buying the gorilla, so just calm down. Now, I'm confused. What's the deal with these Vinylmation things?"
If the face had a finger, it would've pointed at this:
Ahhhh, so that's how it works! Exactly how we've been doing it. Nice!
The kids are in a trading mood, so they each buy one with the intent to trade. Dylan trades I-don't-know-what for No-clue. Emily trades something similar...but what box should she pick? There are 25 total...
Behind the counter, Kristin spots a surprised CM pointing out one of the boxes to her coworker.
Kristin: "Pick 22, Em."
Emily: "I'll take 22."
CM: "Ok, mom...(smiling accusingly)..."
The CM pulls out...Boba Fett! No way! What are the odds?
We thanked the CM (who truly seemed to love her job), then headed back outside.
So Emily has Boba Fett. Guess who wants Boba Fett?
No, not me. Well, I DO, but he wants it more. But Emily does not want to trade it. I advise him to be patient. It's tough for him, but he'll try.
