These Kids Make Me Wish You Could Curse on the DISBoards (May '11 Trip) - DONE 9/14

You have me :rotfl2: as usual. Great updates. Space Mountain is one of my worst favorite rides too. :upsidedow. Snake!!?? :scared1: oh boy... I would have had a heart attack.

Enjoy the holiday weekend. I'll be looking forward to your next update next week. :thumbsup2

Emily's dress is adorable!! Happy she gave SM a try:thumbsup2
Cute picture of Emily and her huggable Duffy ;)
What is it with the snakes?!! I remember your encounter last year during Illuminations:scared1:No thank you!!
Looks like a good idea of throwing out your touring plans because now you have all of those FPs for the rest of your day:goodvibes
Great updates :thumbsup2

Kristin thinks they follow her. We have snakes around our house, albeit only garter snakes. She's gotten MUCH better around them (I used to have to come home from work if she saw one), but is still "not a fan". :)

"And this pic shows that these kids CAN get along on occassion:"
That caption is funny - when my DS (10) & DD (13) argue at WDW, I tell them that they aren't acting like the brother and sister we watched in the WDW planning DVD so we must be at the wrong place.
I must remember to try to eat upstairs at CHH.
Looking forward to reading more and reading your previous TR's.
Hope your family has a good weekend.
Amy

LOVE it!!!

Dylan was complaining about something during a trip a few years back, and I said to him, "you sound like someone whose parents did NOT bring him to Disney World." That got a laugh from the guy behind us in the queue.

There will be more...much more...about his attitude in future updates ;)

Awesome; thanks! Sorry to hurt you like that, though. I HATED finishing that TR last year - it was like having to leave WDW a second time. Maybe that's why I'm being so long-winded in this one?

I don't think we've tried to competition angle yet, but it makes so much sense. Thanks for the tip!

How cool is that? I looked back at our pics, and sadly, I could not find you in them, but that's the closest thing to a DISmeet that I've had!

would have said hi if i had realised it was you a bit quicker. was your lad i recognised from all of last years pics and then looked up and your girl was with repunzle and then you were out of there and away

We move quickly!

Still interesting to know, though it does take some of the wind out of an upcoming rant about DISboarders that will be appearing later in this TR :)

Hi! I loved your May report last year, but found it way too late to comment on anything. I was really happy to see you had started another one. :goodvibes

I might have to steal that line! Since the husband is not able to come on this trip :sad1:, I have to be the lone parent enduring those moments and need all the help I can get! Looking forward to your future updates after what I hope is a very happy long weekend for everyone. :yay:

Just found your TR today and am getting caught up. I read last year's TR but I got in on it right at the end, at least I am towards the beginning of this one. We just came home Sunday from our trip, we arrived the day you left.

Just finished reading 2010 report-- truly enjoyed it! Looking forward to 2011. Will Emily pull the sword out again? Will Dylan? Will Emily Like EE? The anticipation is unbearable-- and you are making us wait until Monday!:rolleyes1:rotfl:

Welcome! Always happy to have new readers, and I'm flattered that you liked the first one.

See, all, it's the late arrivals that make me take my time getting my updates out...it's not like I'm lazy or anything :)

Ok, off to work on some actual updates...

Finally got back to see your pix and they were all so fun. Well, that is except the one with the nasty snake. Yuck!

I like those pictures. Now where were we?

Oh yeah - we arrive a few mintes early for our Royal Table ADRs, and it's not long until we get in. I guess the drill is that you (or your kids) meet Cindy first downstairs, then you get called upstairs where you are seated. As we're waiting for the opening pics, the "Buckingham family" is called up, which makes me laugh. This may also make you laugh if you read last year's TRs. And even if it doesn't make you laugh, you should understand why I would laugh. Anyway.

The inside it pretty neat:

They even had Gus and Jaq up on the wall. Very cool! Emily gets the shot now:

If you're wondering why neither are looking at the camera, it's because the Photopass CM is taking a picture at the same time. Much to MEK's dismay, I must tell you that we have not ordered our Photopass CD yet, so I'll be a bit slow on those pictures early on here. I blame Kristin.

Anyway, it's upstairs now, and the inside it also cool:

Our camera's a bit shaky with interior lighting, but we try our best. The waitress takes our order. Emily got chicken fingers, as did Dylan. And NOW we get to title of this Trip Report...

Dylan is a decent-sized kid. Certainly not big, but not the skinniest I've seen, either. Pretty thick legs, which he certainly did not get from me. But how? Doesn't that kind of thing require, you know, food?

The boy DOES NOT EAT. We feel awful forcing him to eat (not physically...yet), but he just does not. My theory is he is insanely picky and will not compromise. If he's eating something he doesn't like, he'll chew it forever. He once chewed a green bean for 40 minutes. Now there's will power.

He has just recently discovered putting lots of mayo on cheeseburgers, so he's getting better. However, we know that not every restaurant in Disney offers burgers, so we're concerned about those. Starting with this one.

To help him out, Kristin orders a side of mayo for him. Meanwhile, our app came:

IMG_4217.jpg

The Rock Shrimp Cocktail was great. I love shrimp; it's possibly my favorite seafood, and this was very good. For our meals, we both got the Roasted Beef Tenderloin:

IMG_4220.jpg

Also very good. I was surprised, because we had heard bad things about the food here. I was impressed. Not Le Cellier impressed, but still impressed.

Over in the middle of the room, a guy is proposing to his girlfriend. Now I really feel like a chump for not proposing to Kristin here.

But can I really dwell on that? Especially when Dylan IS NOT EATING? C'mon! Dip the chicken strip in the mayo! All you'll taste is the mayo.

"I'm not really that hungry."

This bothers us. because he's gotten colds or stomach bugs that we swear he could avoid if his body had any food in it. Also, with how much he's going to be walking these next 10 days, he's going to need some fuel. But he's not hungry, apparently.

We manage to get him to eat on of the strips, but didn't have a lot of fun in the process. But wait - it's time for everyone to do stuff!

The kids each get either a wand or a plastic sword upon entry, and they get to do some sort of magic to make the stars of our show appear. And out they come:

Emily loved it, but it all seemed a bit rushed. The place is big, and a lot of people want in, so there's not a whole lot of interaction with the Princesses. I have heard this is known as the "Love and Shove" on the inside. Dessert comes soon after. I got some sort of cheesecake, which AllEars won't admit is actually on the menu:

IMG_4229.jpg

Now that I look at it, I don't think it's a cheesecake afterall. But I don't know what it is. If you haven't noticed, this is not the TR to read if you're expecting an experienced food critic.

Kristin got the chocolate mousse:

IMG_4227.jpg

Both were great. We grab a few more pics and head out:

IMG_4233.jpg

IMG_4234.jpg

So what was our assessment?

The food was good, but didn't really stand out for either of us. We liked the Princess interaction better at Askershus, since the place is smaller and the Princesses have more time to interact. I would recommend it to anyone to do at least once, if you've got a Princess lover in your family, but with the 2-meal price, we'll do Norway instead next year. I wouldn't call it a disappointment, since Emily loved it, but she'll be fine with the other one.

After dinner, we all decided to ride the Tomorrowland Motor Speedway, which we had never done at the same time. I rode with Dylan, and Kristin rode with Emily:

IMG_4244.jpg

It's not easy getting a shot of the car behind you when buckled in, especially with this lunatic driving! Dylan is manning both the wheel AND the gas this year, and it's not going so well. Thank god he still has over 6 more years until he gets his licensce

We walked over to Fantasyland next, to cash in our Winnie the Pooh FPs from earlier today, but for some reason, the FP line was VERY long. I have no idea why. We decided to ride Snow White's Discontinued Adventures. I've always loved this ride, though it doesn't seem to be on the same level as the others. I'll be sad to see it go...

IMG_4265.jpg

IMG_4266.jpg

...but can't say I'm not excited about all of this:

Looks like they've left the tent from Toontown up and kept the Barnstormer where it was, but tore down the theming. Pretty good planning. We talked to a couple of teens who were also really into the whole thing, and knowledgable as well. Future (or current) DISers, no doubt!

We rode the (name pending) Carousel next, and Kristin could not find "Cinderella's horse". Does anyone know if was repainted/removed when they took Cindy's name off the thing? Regardless, we have fun:

IMG_4260.jpg

...and then finally made it back to Pooh. The line was much shorter now, so I'm guessing it was down earlier. The new standby queue looks great, so we got a few shots:

IMG_4268.jpg

IMG_4270.jpg

We get some more in better lighting on an upcoming day. The honey thing was interesting - you could "smear" the honey around the screen, and Pooh characters appeared underneath. The kids love it.

After Pooh, we ride the Jungle Cruise (At Night!), which is much more fun than the sunlight variety. I don't know what it is, but I suspect the guests are more fired up. That's interesting, since there is no alcohol inside the Magic Kingdom. Could these people NOT be drunk, and just having fun? I guess anything is possible in Walt Disney World!
