It is really cute. It starts in 6th grade here. Sort of a manners and ettiquette class combined with dancing. They learn to waltz, foxtrot, line dance, etc. The girls get dressed up in cute party dresses and the boys all wear khakis and navy blazers with a tie. At the end of each dance, the boys say to the girls, "Thank you for the dance." And the girls reply, "Thank you, I enjoyed it."

Wow, NC, that sounds like something we could use here! I think good manners are disappearing from this world and it makes me sad. What a wonderful program!

So they have a dance every Saturday night from September 'til December? Or just a few? Party dresses for all those nights would get really expensive!

Thanks for the "Scream Out", Sea! I feel so famous and rock star-ish! :cool2:

It looks like you had a wonderful time together. Thanks for taking the time to let us enjoy the fun, too! :goodvibes

Their dances are every other Saturday night. One night is Halloween. On Halloween, they have a costume party, which the kids really enjoy. I think we needed 6 dresses total. I haved picked up a few here and there over the summer on sale. They also have a Cotillion sale each year, where you can resale your dresses or blazers, etc. and buy new ones. It was when we were at Great Wolf, so of course I missed it!

The girls are required to wear white cotton gloves. I washed AND DRIED DD's and now they are too small, so I need to go buy another pair.

Any one need a pair of teeny white gloves?

NC- How are Chris and his elbow doing?

Jo - I hope you are feeling better.

Busy day today.. a little house cleaning in preparation for my parents visit this weekend. Meet the teacher night at the kids new school, and then it is also movie night for me... What are all your kids going as for halloween this year????
I am having a dickens of a time figuring out what Ethan should be, or getting him to decide...any suggestions for a 7 year old boy who in the past has been a bat, a dinosaur, Peter Pan, and Darth Vader.

I need help, and only a month left to order something if need be.

YAY! I have a friend!!:lmao:

Um- Halloween.

Same thing as last year since we were in WDW and no on here saw their costumes. I HATE spending $$$ on costumes that they wear once.
So- Belle will be Tinkerbelle complete with light up wings. Drew will be a Gators fottball player complete with eye black- and MCat probably won't dress up but if she does, she'll be Alice like last year.

Let's see... what could your lil guy be?????????? Hum...... how about Captain Jack?pirate:
Captain Hook?pirate:pirate:

Yes- i love soem pirates.:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1Drew has a Captain Hook costume that he has had forever, and wore a couple of times. But it's still big on him, LOL.

He cannot straighten his elbow, which I do not think is a good thing. We have an appointment at 11:20 to see our doctor. I am going to sit in the WELL waiting room and try to avoid Jo's SWINEY HINEY FLU!!!!

I have no idea what we will be. Chris will not dress up. Chloe, who knows? :confused3 We talked about it Sunday, but didn't come up with anything.

Of course, I am still in the running for worst mother of the year. I yelled at Chloe this morning. :sad2: I had told her to practice her drums last night. She didn't do it. I also told her to shower. She didn't do it. So I washed her hair in the sink this morning, while I "talked loudly" to her, (which my kids consider yelling.) I also grounded her from her computer since she played games on it instead of practicing her drums and taking a shower. Why, oh why do I feel bad and she is the one who disobeyed? :sad2:

All the while last night, I was absorbed in the elbow trauma, icing it down. Giving pep talks to DS as he was down in the dumps, etc. Giving more Advil, Giving more pep talks, etc.

I swear I would never be able to manage a 3rd child!

I will be looking for my Emmy nomination for worst mom any day now.

Lake - Does he still enjoy Star Wars? What about Anakin? Hans Solo? Yoda? Darth Mahl (although I never allowed Chris to dress up as him. He was creepy/evil.)?

What about a super hero? Spider Man? Bat Man? Iron Man? Who is the current BIG super hero? I am so out of touch.

Honey, you are anything but the worst Mom.

Your children are loved and they feel it, they are protected, fed, and not hungry.

You'd walk to the ends of the Earth for them, and seeing there was no more room to walk, you'd take that final step, just to please them.

No, dearie. You are a great Mom.

Everyone gets stressed at times. Just b/c she didn't listen and you "yelled" doesn't mean they think you love them any less. She knows you love her. ANd she loves you for being her Mommy.

Be proud of yourself. You are raising beautiful children who respect you and are thankful to have you in their lives. Even if they'd rather have a dirty head, and not know how to beat a drum.

Jo

We all have our scary mom moments.
Don't feel so bad.

Being a mom 24/7 isn't always easy and by yelling it doesn't mean we don't love them, or love the job of being their mom's. Sometimes it has more to do with emoions and hormones than the kids themselves. Unfortunately sometimes the kids just choose to disobey or act up at the wrong time, which makes it a little worse for themselves.

This made me cry, just a little...

Even if they'd rather have a dirty head, and not know how to beat a drum.

This made me laugh...

What is that saying? Laughter thru tears?

You know, I think the timing and hormones both contributed. I had completely forgot about the hormones!!!

Thank you Lake!

Not that the hormones excuse it or timing excuse.

I did apoligize on the way to school and asked for forgiveness, which she granted. She will still lose her priviledges today, but I just should have done it in a different spirit.

Thanks for making me feel better MAYers!!!

Hello MAYers!

Just got back from the grocery store. Picking up all the goodies for DS's party this Saturday. Not sure how many are actually coming, we haven't gotten a lot of response yet. The hotel only allows 10 kids per party now. When I had DS10's it was unlimited. So he invited a lot of kids. DS7 didn't invite that many and now at least 2 of his best friends are going to be out of town this weekend and we only know of one that is coming for sure. Now he is thinking of new people daily to invite, but it's getting to be kind of late to send out invitations!

NC - don't worry, I yell all the time. Or at least I feel like I am yelling all the time. :rotfl: It's the only way the boys will listen because they are always so loud that they can't hear me when I talk normal!

Mari - that would be super cool if your sister has a Disney wedding!

Lake - have fun at the movies!

JO - it doesn't sound like you are doing much better. You better just take it easy and DIS today! Hey maybe we can finish this thread today and you can start a new one - Part VI!

You are welcome Trixi - I am glad we made you feel like a rock star! :cool1:

Thanks for the "Scream Out", Sea! I feel so famous and rock star-ish! :cool2:
