Sea - the D23 event sounds amazing! That would be sooo cool. I wanted to join - but I don't think it would be worth it to me in PGH... I couldn't really come to the expos or anything.

Did they have the HM 'Stretching Room' paintings at the booths? I wanted them so bad for my spare bedroom. I think they're awesome!

Jo - When you guys went to MNSSHP, was that JUST the price of the admission ticket - or did you need a park ticket that day also. I went when I as younger, but that was about *gulp* 10 years ago.... So, I am a little foggy on the details. :goodvibes

I am thinking that when we go, we will probably get one less park admission to save a couple bucks - just get the ticket for the party, relax in the morning and then go just for that. KWIM?

Aww, thanks you guys!

Shelly- our hotel was very nice.:goodvibes
But it wasn't as ex*****ve or as nice as the YC.:lmao: We paid $165 for Sat night, but only $109 for Sunday night. Mark and I stayed there when we were very very very poor newlyweds on "points" for our First Anniversary-- I was pregnant with Drew and we were able to go be tourists in our hometown. Made us feel special.
For cheap.
:rotfl:

Lake- we worked hard on those flowers, let me tell ya. Forty dozen roses--- Mom and Auntie had them coming out of their ears when it was all over, LOL. And didn't you eat at Cali. Dreaming when you were there?

RF-- PLEASE do yourselves a favor and rest the day of MNSSHP. You'll be out to around 2 am. Don't plan anything early for the next morning either. (we got ADR's the next day for somewhere in WS in Epcot for around noon).

You'll have to plan carefully for the party, as well. We went on the Sunday night leading up to Halloween. It wasn't packed. By Tuesday- they were jammed and then of course the night before and Halloween night sold out. It's around a 25,000 person hard ticket event... BUT... I've heard speculation that they open it up again for Halloween and there are def more than that on that night.
That morning, we layed in the hammocks at CBR, went to DTD for lunch, went back and started getting ready at 2 pm. YOU CAN GET IN AT 4 pm WITH YOUR MNSSHP TIX. That is important.
Get in, eat an early supper at a CS- we did Cosmic Rays (you don't want to waste time eating during the party) ride a few rides, and watch the mass exodus. WHen it's time for the party to start, be in line already for CInderellas carriage picture op if that is important to you. If you'd rather see SW and the dwarfs, get in that line before the party starts. Later on it is miserable- 2 hr waits sometimes.

TGM has a WONDERFUL touring strategy. Find it over there.

Wish I was going then.

Hey! Maybe I will!:woohoo:

Kidding, I'm kidding.

Sea- can't wait to see pics of the expo. It sounds like you guys had a great time.
Jo

LOL! I got bleeped! I must have misspelled exPENSIve.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Hi RF - I have seen the HM paintings you are looking for. Check out this link:http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Haunted-Mansion-Stretching-Prints/dp/B001C7CPNK
When I am at the park this Saturday I will check to see if the pricing is comparable.

Jo - Here is how Johnny Depp sailed into D23 on Friday:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tuk84GWcXeI And they did announce
the production of POTC 4 - On Stranger Tides. Coming 2011. Nice pix of Charleston and your trip btw.

You did an amazing job.

We didn't make it to Cali. Dreaming...but did eat at Magnolia's and LOVED!!!!!! it.

Well, sadly it is official - we can't swing a trip to WDW before our cruise in November. Sorry about that Shelly. I was so expecting to meet you and your family. My wife can't take the time off that week. She has parent/teacher conferences that whole week.

But we might be going back to FL in January for a wedding...so who knows?

Next May is iffy now, my son Chris is going to graduate from high school and my wife doesn't think she should take off the time since she finishes teaching school in the middle of June. Maybe I should do a father and son trip? I would still like to go in May, but maybe my wife will push it toward the end of June.

Arrrgghhh!!! Attention Mayers! You need to visit Disneyland - LOL! Then that will solve all of my Mayer meet-up issues. :lmao::rotfl:

So here is a mini-D23 report for you - the last event of the Expo!

We got in line for the last event of the expo, which was the world premiere of a scene from Toy Story 3 in 3D, coming out June, 2010 and a double feature of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 both in 3D, coming out this November.

To say security was tight, was a understatement. You had to give up ALL electronics - cell phones, battery chargers, ipods, cameras, etc. Then everyone was checked with wands. They weren't taking any chances of any piracy.

The director and producer of TS came on stage and introduced the preview of TS 3D - it was incredible! You are going to love this new movie! Then they showed a rough cut of Buzz singing and dancing in Spanish, it was hilarious. Oh yea, Ken (of Ken and Barbie) are in the new TS movie. They showed us a "interview" entitled "Groovin' with Ken" - it was a riot!

Next up! Toy Story, the original, in 3D. As the movie started and as you see the fireworks and Cinderella castle emerge on the screen, people were starting to sniffle and cry all around us...it was like a seeing an old friend you hadn't seen in a long time. The 3D works so well in these movies. It is going to be a real pleasure to see these movies in theaters again.

Unfortunately, my son Chris wasn't feeling well, so we left after the first movie. It was great way to end a wonderful weekend!

I want those pictures sooooo bad Sea! I wonder if the price would be much different buying from a vendor. I told Bob that was what I wanted for christmas! I have no idea where I will put them - but I'll find somewhere!!!

LOL.

I can't wait to see TS in 3D - I know I too would have bawled like a baby to see the castle and the fireworks in 3d. I am such a sap. :sad1:

Ans Sea - Maybe if Hawaii falls thorough - Bob and I will take a short trip out to DL in the spring!!! You never know.:goodvibes It HAS to be cheaper, right!?? ;)

Mornin'!

Today is Toy Story Midway Mania for the Wii Day! :woohoo:

We preordered a copy that's being shipped today, but I want to play it TODAY, so I'll be at the video store when they open to try to get the ONE copy they have.

Wish me luck (because this is such an incredibly important thing)! :lmao:

I don't know about everyone from the South, but ususally in Charleston- you "Borrow" ;) Magnolia leaves from whoever's got 'em in their yard. I say leaves- you clip the branches and use them that way with a bow tied to them. A centerpiece, of sorts.

A Southern wedding has to have magnolia leaves (and flowers too if they are alive- sadly, all of ours were dead-).

Thank you for the clarification! I'd never heard of that, but I like it. :thumbsup2

I love magnolias. I have one in my backyard and a painting in my living room.

See? I really should have been a southern girl! :goodvibes Except for all y'all's SNAKES down there!!!

Hello MAYers!

Just home from the school. I was there way longer than anticipated. Now it's onto laundry and hopefully I can work at staining the deck some more. It was the perfect sunny day to do the deck yesterday with the exception of the wind. The dang deck stain kept getting blown right off the brush and onto me. Yuck! So I gave it up. No soccer tonight so hopefully I can get something done around here!

DH's company has a plant in Lakeland FL, very close to WDW. The guy down there that does the same job as DH does up here wants to transfer up here, I guess he has family here or something. He had mentioned it to DH's new boss, but no one up here was interested in going down there. So they were all on a conference call with the FL guy yesterday and he mentioned wanting to come up here to work again. DH's boss said - sorry, I tried but the only one who wanted to come down there was "our last name" 's wife!! :rotfl2: (he knows of my love for WDW, even though we've never met)

But I don't even know if I would move down south, those snakes and gators creep me out!! :scared1:

That's a bummer Sea! :sad2:

Oh well, maybe another time! Hey maybe November 2010. I think Trix has her DH talked into it!! :wizard:

But not sure if a 2010 trip is in the cards for us. 2010 will probably be braces year.

We will make it to DL someday, I promise!! :goodvibes

Definitely another time...we will see how this next year pans out. Maybe we can come up to PA and visit Hershey and meet up there? I have always wanted to check that out some day.

Here is a video of some the things you would see in the "Parks & Resorts" exhibit at D23. The entrance to this exhibit was AMAZING. We went through this thing like seven times.

They had the Cars Land models up and a model of Lightening McQueen testing his mouth movement technology. Also in this video you will see Lucky the Dinosaur and Walle. And finally, you will be blown away by the new technology that the Imagineers have come up with The Storyteller's Sandbox. My wife wants this in her classroom! LOLOL! There was more here, but that is all the time I had last night to put together for you. More later.

LOL - you forgot frogs and those love bugs too! You would probably like it minus the heat and the humidity during the summer, but overall, the weather in that area is decent. No more snow to contend with...what does your husband think?

Oh. My. Goodness.

That sandbox is so cool!!! Forget the classroom...I want one in my house!!! :rotfl2:

Were those Photopass-type photograpers by Wall-E, etc.? Did you get pictures taken? :cool2:
