It's the bedspread that always get's ruined, so I just have a blanket on the bed. But no bedspread because they were getting ruined right and left. It'd take me awhile to pick a new one and BAM! Ruined! Pick a new one, BAM! Ruined! Pick a new one, BAM! Ruined!

Well, we had some terrible weather, some decent weather, and some really terrible weather. As in, catastrophic weather.
Sunday afternoon was really nice...although the waves were huge and the sky looked a bit weird...we were keeping an eye on the weather. Well, we were grilling burgers for dinner when my mom called my cell phone and said we were going to get a bad storm and it was heading right for the State Park we were in. My mom tends to exaggerate, so I didn't think much of it, except that we put the awning up on the camper so it didn't get blown around too much.
Then my sister called me. She said that she heard on TV that anyone who knew anyone who was out at the beach in my town needed to be notified to get out of there! A huge storm was coming! 70 mile per hour winds and hail were predicted. My sister wouldn't have called me if it weren't serious. So we decided we needed to get the pop-up camper down so it didn't blow away or break! By this point, the park rangers were driving around warning people to take cover or get out (we had sent my girls home with DH's parents right before that~luckily they were there to eat dinner with us), sirens were sounding, and DH and I were running around like crazy people, trying to get everything packed into the camper or the car.
Well, to make a long, horrible story short, we got the camper down, but not until the worst of the storm was over.Let me tell you...you do not want to be standing on a beach with sand blowing at you and rain pelting down on you in 63 mile per hour winds.
(That's what my in-laws wind-o-meter said was the highest gust~~second highest in the history of them being in that house by the beach...since 1985.)
By the time we got out, the park was a mess. Tents were blowing around everywhere, peoples' junk was strewn all over the place, the power was out to most of the town, and traffic lights were out. DH and I were just shot emotionally. Like in a daze. This was the closest we had ever been to a natural disaster. And the camper wasn't even ours, we borrowed it from friends!!! Ugh.
Later that night, DH went back and got the camper and we got all the wet stuff out and set it up to hopefully dry out. I figure if we damaged it beyond repair, we just bought ourselves a camper. But it seems to be drying out, so I think we'll be okay.
Looking back on it and telling the story, it doesn't seem as traumatic as it was at the time. But we're all okay and that's all that matters. The only thing that hasn't been accounted for yet is the lid to my huge tupperware bowl. Oh, and my car doesn't run. It's being towed to the dealership this afternoon. I think some part got waterlogged (this happened before Christmas, too) and wrecked havoc on the computer. Hopefully the repairs will be covered under warranty and the towing will be paid by our insurance.
I bet I'll get a new car out of all this mess, so there is always a silver lining, right???![]()
JO - is it weird that we keep posting basically the same thing at the same time???![]()
I guess great MAYer minds think alike!

This made me laugh out loud...BAM!
When are you going? Where is it? How did you convince your DS that it would be okay???
Hi Mayers,
Yesterday was a pretty hard day, but we made it through. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
Today is Jeremy's 23rd birthday! They left around 6:30 am and headed down to DL for rope drop. Since he is an APer, he can get the 72$ gift card, so I am wondering what he might come home with.
Here is a pic my wife just put up on FB from her phone:

This past weekend was 40th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion. Had a few friends that went to the Shag private party and got to meet him. He is the artist that designed all those HM items I posted last week.
The next day they went to DL and of course, visited HM. While in line my friend looked down and saw this tattoo on this guy's leg...does anyone know why this looks so familiar?

It is the Haunted Mansion wallpaper! Talk about dedication to a ride!
