Jo - We are iced in. Are you guys any better off? I can't imagine it. :rotfl:

Yea, you can get better travel insurance pricing by looking around. I have never purchased it before, but my parents always purchased it on the longer cruises and trips they have taken before - 10 days or more.

In Grand Cayman we did the sub ride and a short city tour. In Cozumel we went to the San Gervasio ruins and a city tour. We just walked around the town in Roatan. On Princess Cay, it was a beach day and some small shopping too.

Your best deal for shopping will probably be Cozumel. You will find stores selling TONS of stuff for cheap.

Sea

Whew! Thanks Sea! That makes me feel better!

Sea, here are my newest qustions:

1. Did you guy trip insurance? If so how much did it cost? I was quoted yesterday at booking and it was $100 per person...:scared1: Have looked at a few on-line which look like they are around $150 total. HUGE difference.

Sorry to everyone if I am putting my financial business out there to much. :upsidedow

2. Did you do excursions? We are at Roatan, Costa Maya, and Cozumel. I think 5 or 6 ships are in port at Cozumel when we are there. If so, which excursions did you do?

OK, I think that's all for now.

:goodvibes

I think I may get it, but buy it from another source. With ages of our parents, you just never know. I am not normally an insurance type of person, but it seems like it might be the right decision for this.

For WDW, we ususally just did room only so I could cancel it up to 5 days out.

This seems very different.

NC - Does everyone have their passports? Everyone passenger needs one.

I would also get your get your kids state ID cards too that you can get through the DMV. It is nice to have a "back up" government ID.

I've have scanned and made copies of all our ID's, passports, and credit cards and saved them to a password protected jump drive. That way, if any of those things gets lost or stolen, I have copies to access immediately.

Oh yea, buy sunscreen, suntan lotion and mosquito repellent before you go. It is very expensive on the ships and at the port stops. There are mosquitoes if you go in the jungle or inland on Cozumel. The sun is very bright in the Caribbean and you will get burned very fast if you don't take care of yourself.

Great minds think alike! I didn't see this post till tonight. I have been electronically filling out forms for our passports. DH's had expired. I never had one (only traveled to Canada and US territories prior to all the new rules.) And the children do not have them, this will be their first adventure out of the country.

Found DH's old passport and both children's birth certificates. I can't find mine (we have moved too much), but the good news is that I was born in Arkansas (the only person in my little family of four) and I can run to the Vital Statistics office tomorrow to get my certificate.

I know that we are not required to have passports to cruise, but this is a good excuse to get them. Both of the children are at the age that they have opportunities to travel out of the country with the school. And I just want mine to say I have it. (Also, I was asked last minute to chaperon a trip to the Bahamas with the school and didn't have a passport so I couldn't. So that isn't going to happen again!)

The ice melted and we all ventured out to our favorite little Mexican restaurant for lunch and then to Walgreen's for our passport photos!

I hadn't thought about getting the kids the gov't photo ids, but it sounds like a good idea.

Busy day tomorrow with going to Vital Stat. office and post office for passports.

If you guys don't see me just think of all the fun I'll be having in government offices!

Sayin' HI

I'm home and grumpy about it. We had a great time in Disney. The drive to and from was beyond exhausting. I think I'm traumatized and will never drive to FL again!

Hope all is well with everyone. I'll jump on again later to catch up on what I missed this past week. I've got a sinus infection and yucky headache right now and staring at the computer screen hurts. Did I mention it stinks to be home.

I know I just welcomed you back on your PTR, but I will do it again here ~ Welcome Back! :goodvibes I know it stinks to be back, but we missed you and can't wait to hear all about it. Again, I'm so sorry your trip down and back was so awful. But I am so excited to hear all about your magical Disney adventures! :cool1: Hope you feel better soon.

Kim-----here's some big MAYer hugs:grouphug::snooty::snooty::grouphug:

The MAYers are really good at helping you beat the just back blues.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Kim - Welcome back home! Sorry to hear that you don't feel well today. Hope you are feeling better very soon. Can't wait to read your trip report!

Hi NC! How were the lines today at the passport office?

Just got home!!! Whew!

I went to the office of Vital Statistics to pick up a copy of my birth certificate. Boy was that interesting. Apparently there is more government money available for housing allowances somehow as there were lots of women in there picking up birth certifiticates for their large families and discussing it. Apparently they needed birth certificates to proove the children living with them were indeed their children. The conversation I heard was that one woman had 5 of her own children living with her and 2 kids that weren't hers. She didn't think the government was going to let those other kids keep living with her and still pay her. :confused3 Anyway, it was interesting to say the least. I just tried to keep my eyes on my lesson plan for tomorrow's class. I was VERY out of place there. I was the only person there that I saw paying for their birth certificate. The charge is $12.00. The pay window was separate, so it was fairly obvious. I guess everyone else had some sort of voucher, I am not sure. I couldn't figure that out. Like I said, very interesting.

After school, the kids and I were going to go to post office nearest us that processes applications for passports. By the time we drove there, it was 3:59 and the website said it closed at 4:00. So I decided to drive downtown to another post whose passport area closed at 5:00. Well, we got there and they told me they closed at 4:00. So I told her how the other office closed at 4:00 and so on and what the website said. So I commented that I guess children need to miss school to get a passport. And the worker commented, "Yeah, and it's no big deal for kids to miss school." :sad2:

So I'm leaving and I hear "Psst, Psst.."

And a lady waiting in the post office line motions for me to come over and tells me there is a Passport Agency Office in the Laman Library in North Little Rock that it is open until 7:15 p.m. and is very professional.

So I go to my car and google the library, get their number call them and sure enough, it's true.

So I GPS them and we head over and got there a little after 4:30. We had to wait until 5:00. But they processed us and things went very smoothly!

I am so tired!

Exhausted!

But excited that I am getting a passport!

:woohoo:

Morning everyone!

I've been busy helping at the school, and our olympic count down is on..just 10 more days. The kids are all excited, as am I.
Its like spring out in Vancouver right now, so hopefully the mountains hold their snow. :)

Wiarton Willie saw his shadow this morning, not sure what Puxatawney Phil did yet, but something tells me the two are in cahoots with one another.

I hope everyone is well.

Have a fantastic day!

Wow NC what an adventure!

So glad you were able to get it all done in one afternoon.

I can't believe that postal worker saying it was "no big deal" about the kids
missing school. What planet did they come from? LAME!
