These are NOT the rooms that I paid for! 3 Resorts in 10 days - Trivia Answers 9/3

I just need to do this tour! Thank you for sharing it with us! Looks like you guys had a great time.

Also, it's my first expo. I'm so excited but so nervous! I heard last year was just a mess.. As long as I get into the Alan Menken & Richard Sherman concert, I will be ecstatic. You should go though, seriously!!

Love the perfume shop.

I totally had watery eyes reading about Walt with the lump in his throat watching people come through the gates. What a wonderful tour Brenda for you and your daughter.

What a wonderful wonderful tour! I need to start looking into some of the event at DL as it appears Evan may be marching down Main Street in April!

Love the pin

And love the upgraded view. I really would like to stay at BLT someday. Jeff has no desire to but I'd like to at least check it out. My 2nd Tony's TR review today, now I want to try it with the family. I need to have 3 week trip just to eat everywhere I want.

After a hectic month of June, I am easing my way back into the Dis, started by getting catched up on your trip report. Looks like your luck kept up at BLT! You're giving me the resort hopping bug, BLT rooms are gorgeous too. And loved your report of the Walk with Walt tour! Sounds like a great experience.

Okay, so this tour is going down on my future Disneyland to-do list! :thumbsup2

Definitely Christen! :thumbsup2

Again Brenda, thank you SO MUCH for adding this little intermission. I'm getting chills reading about it. Plus that lovely quote by Sharon Baird... OMG. So touching!

"To all who come to this happy place... welcome". Oh my goodness. That little momento is just... OMG. :cloud9:

It was MY pleasure! It was a great tour. I'm looking forward to the tour your did at MK - KTTK in August!

Wow...how cool! Thanks for sharing!

You are so welcome! :)

How wonderful that you got another upgrade at BLT. I hope you were able to watch Wishes from your balcony. pixiedust:

Wonderful intermission update about the tour. Thank you for sharing that with us. I love reading how Walt picked out the carpet with Lily in mind and included her in other details in the park. It sounds like he was a romantic guy. :lovestruc

The theme park view was awesome but unfortunately we didn't have an opportunity to watch Wishes from our balcony this trip. We were always elsewhere but we did watch Wishes from a couple restaurants nearby.

Walt adored Lillian and I love hearing the stories that showed how much he did! There was a great story told about another gal that Walt had his eye on before he went to work for the animation studio and met Lillian. That young lady rejected his advances. I bet she lived to regret that!! :lmao:

Great to hear! The more you play the more comfortable you will get. I couldn't learn anything until I really put the camera through its paces!

Oh that tour. Seriously, I still have little tears in my eyes thinking of being in his actual apartment! Wow. What an amazing experience! If I ever get anywhere near there I absolutely have to do that tour. The pin you got is adorable too, I absolutely love the story book look and the quote inside. How special is that!

Also the perfume shop is stunning, those paintings must be really incredible in person!

Thank you for sharing this side adventure Brenda, I'm loving it!

What is the saying... practice makes perfect. In my case it may be practice makes mediocre! ;)

Aww thanks Wendy. The tour, especially the apartment is amazing.

I really wish that I had a better camera with me when Em and I visited the perfume shop on Friday night. I just had my pocket camera and the photos definitely don't do the beautiful floral panels justice.

That was an amazing intermission. I got chills just reading it and seeing my old, beloved DL attractions. But, I can't wait to see the next part of your TR now!

Thanks Cara! I'll be back to my regular TR shortly. :goodvibes

I love the tour update! The panels are beautiful, and the parting gift/ souvenir is so neat! I would really love to do this tour one day. Hopefully DLR stays in the semi near future!

Thanks Sarah! You would definitely do the panels justice with your photo skills!

I loved reading about the tour, from Walt's apartment to the parfumerie to your lunch (Matterhorn macaroon!). It's amazing how much history is preserved in the perfume shop alone! And your photos have me missing DL more than ever - thanks for giving such a detailed look at everything. :goodvibes

Hi Mr. DDW! See... that Matterhorn macaroon made an appearance in my review! I loved it!

Debbie, the CM filled in so much more information when we returned. I was glad that she happened to be working that night since she has so much history with the shop. The other CM that we spoke with after Debbie had to leave was a "floater" who fills in at various shops. She didn't have near as much information so that worked out well.

Considering you'll be doing a July WDW trip before August I will say that I am completely envious that you are able to book another summer trip!! :)

The print is the monorail! How perfect! I am even more excited about staying there (next trip!)

I love all these details! Now I want to go to DL more than ever! What a great tour!
As an artist I love the story of the mirror. Sad that she didn't finish but beautiful that she leaves something so lovely as part of her legacy for millions of people to enjoy.
Thank you for sharing!

Hi Alysa! :) Dorthea Redmond who took over the task of finishing the panels ended up being self taught that art so she had to have been extremely talented. One interesting note from inspecting the panels on Friday up close. (The CM invited Em and I to go behind the counter and get a close up of the artwork - so incredibly awesome by the way!) You can see a distinct difference in the style for the panels. The original artist, Glendra, had a much crisper and defined style. You can see where she left off when she died. Dorthea's style was more subtle - it is hard to describe since I'm not artsy - but it was still beautiful. :flower3:

Again, a fantastic upgrade- what luck! I've never really understood the appeal to BLT but seeing your room makes me totally change my mind. The room is so chic and with a theme park view to boot! I really love the color scheme too. I'll have to add a night there to my resort list.

Hi Emily! I had never wanted to stay at CR and thus BLT had zero appeal for me until I saw photos of the rooms. It is still very subtle for the Disney décor but it is there. What I appreciate about the other resorts is the complete immersion in Disney with the design. However, BLT does have some unique elements that I appreciate. It's definitely not for everyone. :)

Jennifer that's so awesome! An Alan Menken concert is legendary!!! I just checked out more info on the website and need to decide if I want a paid membership... not sure yet. I definitely need to read more since that is new to me. :)

Love the perfume shop.

I totally had watery eyes reading about Walt with the lump in his throat watching people come through the gates. What a wonderful tour Brenda for you and your daughter.

We were standing in the apartment when the CM told us that story of Walt having that lump in his throat and a tear running down his face.... of course that made me have a moment! It was a wonderful tour. Thanks for reading! :goodvibes

Oh my gosh! What an honor that will be to be for Evan!! We see visiting marching bands often and I am thrilled for those kids. :)

Thanks, the pin is definitely an added bonus!

I understand that BLT/CR isn't for everyone. It is so different from some of your favorites like WL and BW. We started with a split stay the first time and only stayed a couple nights before moving to BC. We've gone back every trip since for all or part of our trips. :thumbsup2

Ahhh Tony's! So good. I agree, 3 weeks should be about right to accommodate all the wonderful places to eat at WDW!

Hi there!! I'm glad to see you catching a bit of a break!

We were lucky once again at BLT. :) And thanks, that tour was fantastic.

I think that's what I find so striking in the pictures that its like a fresh breath of vacation. I don't want to go as far as to say I'd want take a break from Disney while I'm there but I really like how, as you mentioned, the 'Disney' is scaled back in the room. It's a different atmosphere, for sure!

Then again, I suppose seeing Cindy's castle out your window isn't so subtle...but hey, whose complaining?! :cool1:

Absolutely agreed!!! And a castle in the background, I'm not complaining! :)

I am ridiculously behind on the DIS, but I just have to say that the Walk in Walts Footsteps tour looks so cool. I really enjoyed the photos you took last time. That apartment looks so adorable.

Matterhorn cooke? Gotta love that. Hope to get caught up properly very soon!

Wednesday February 27, 2013: Day 5, Part 7

Following dinner it was time to hit up some rides. We stopped at some of the shops on Main Street. In the Confectionary store we were at the M&M’s dispenser when a woman came over with her little boy and measured out a huge handful of candy. I was thinking at the time, geez lady, they have bags to put that in. She walked away, presumably to get said bag to put it in so it could be weighed and purchased. If that’s what you thought happened then you’d be WRONG. She walked right out the store with the heaping handful of candy. What the heck?? In front of her kid nonetheless. Shameless Thief! We just looked at each other and wanted to shout out –Citizen’s Arrest. But we just starred and then shook our heads. We did put a note in the suggestion box that they may wish to add security sensors to the candy!

Our destination… PotC! There was a photopass dude there which whom we posed smiling without a hook and with a faux hook – at least one of us did! It was a 10 minute wait according to my photo so we didn’t have long to anticipate the pirate battle that would rage around us as well as the fact that we would be able to see Captain Jack Sparrow.

Apparently only one of us was having fun with the pirate pose! pirate:

For these prices you would think they could afford a decent burial for those guys!

Next we headed to Fantasyland. Did you know that they are building a castle for Rapunzel? I didn't when we were there in February! Again, I’m not one to pay attention so I’m not sure why I didn’t know that earlier.

Apparently we didn’t see anything to do in Fantasyland because we kept walking right to Tomorrowland. There are two attractions in Tomorrowland that I will never tire of seeing, well, maybe three, ok 4. The first two are Carousel of Progress and the People Mover. The other two are Space Mountain and Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor. We chose Carousel of Progress. I LOVE the nostalgia of this attraction. One thing I had not noticed before was the intro video before you enter the revolving theater.

Aha! Now I see that Mickey plush under the tree!
DSC01164.jpg

By the time we were done with Carousel of Progress the park was closing at 9pm so we took the monorail back to CR. But first, the Electric Light Pageant was passing by the docks outside MK. I had to pause to watch for a few minutes.

DSC01179.jpg

Seeing as how there was no CL lounge to grab snacks and drinks late at night we were on our own. We made a stop at the Fantasia Market at the CR.

DSC01186.jpg

Walking back across the sky-bridge to BLT I had to stop and marvel at the beautiful full moon that was so brightly reflecting on Bay Lake. It was so peaceful and surreal since there was no one around. Seriously a perfect moment!

The rest of the evening was spent hanging out in the room with TV Land and a fabulous view of the castle.

No worries Mary Ellen! I would think that life is keeping you pretty busy right now!

And so you know how good that cookie was... I'm thinking of calling in an order for one of those with Em since she is at DRL right now. ;)

Take care!:goodvibes

She stole in front of her son!?!?!
You try so hard to raise your kids right and set a good example at all times. Is she nuts? I hope she doesn't mind when the police call her one night when that boy is a teen for breaking-and-entering!
The pirate pose of you made me laugh out loud! You are too cute! And how did I just guess that you would love the carousel of progress.
Can I see another moonlit shot of the castle? I'm not going to get tired of that view!

I'm never shocked by the fact that people are crazy. That was really bold though!!! I could understand taking a nibble as you wait, but a HANDFUL!?!?! Sigh… :sad2:

OMG wow Brenda, what a thief that woman was. That's so surreal. I wonder if she thought this was the candy version of Club Cool? :lmao:

It seems (to me at least) that more and more photopass spots keep appearing. I don't ever remember seeing a photog at Pirates before. Love the Pirate pose even if Em didn't want to play along. pirate:

COP is just vintage Walt Disney. It just oozes Walt. I love it too. :goodvibes

I can't believe that mom store right in front of her son. I would have said citizen arrest too! Great upgrade at BLT!

Bad enough that she did it, but in front of her child, or any child, at DISNEY?

Ugh. I wish I could believe that it's not common...

Every DVC should have these! It was our big beef at Vero. You've got all kinds of things that pegs or hooks would be useful for and plenty of wall space....

Fun evening.

I can't believe someone did that, let alone in front of their child!! Wow. I know disney can be super expensive, but...that's just wrong.

I looooovvvvvve Carousel of Progress! It's one of my favorites. It's so unappreciated. I could never get tired of that blissful rotating theater. I'd love to work that attraction.

Someone seriously stole some M&M's from Disney World? What? That's ridiculous.

I love CoP too! It's a classic, ya gotta love it! :thumbsup2

Can I just say how amazing I think your Disneyland tour sounded? The part about Walt's apartment with the former Mouseketeer made me cry! SO sweet.

Seriously, people's moral compasses and integrity can be really way off!! I couldn't imagine doing that let alone in front of my kids. I'm a firm believer in leading by example, and well unless you want your kid to think its ok....

Other than that great update! I do like those bag hooks, I am forever hanging things on the backs of chairs or putting them on the islands,,,, :)

Oh and I want to add- I LOVE LOVE LOVE the peoplemover! People think I'm nuts for loving that ride and the railroad so much....

I don't have much to add on the candy thief, but it's sad that many of these kids are going to be exactly like their parents when they grow up. :sad2:

Apparently the new Rapunzel area is gorgeous, but I wish it had more substance besides restrooms and benches.

Finally, you're making me miss CR/BLT! The countdown has already begun - less than 10 days to go until we're checking into CR. :goodvibes
