These are NOT the rooms that I paid for! 3 Resorts in 10 days - Trivia Answers 9/3

Some people are unbelievable! I have seen this before at the grocery store. A couple of weeks ago I actually saw a mom take 3 bananas and give them to her children who were with her. She also didn't grab anymore to weigh when she paid - just decided to give her kids a snack while shopping.

Some people are just so...ugh! What is that woman teaching her son?! People are just crazy!

Nice shots of Carousel of Progress. Can you believe I still haven't been on that? Hopefully soon!

She stole in front of her son!?!?!
You try so hard to raise your kids right and set a good example at all times. Is she nuts? I hope she doesn't mind when the police call her one night when that boy is a teen for breaking-and-entering!
The pirate pose of you made me laugh out loud! You are too cute! And how did I just guess that you would love the carousel of progress.
Can I see another moonlit shot of the castle? I'm not going to get tired of that view!

I know! That brazen woman!

Ha! Glad to know that you are a fellow COP lover as well. It's got such class!

I'm never shocked by the fact that people are crazy. That was really bold though!!! I could understand taking a nibble as you wait, but a HANDFUL!?!?! Sigh… :sad2:

Yeah, people may not like the prices of things at WDW but sheesh!

OMG wow Brenda, what a thief that woman was. That's so surreal. I wonder if she thought this was the candy version of Club Cool? :lmao:

It seems (to me at least) that more and more photopass spots keep appearing. I don't ever remember seeing a photog at Pirates before. Love the Pirate pose even if Em didn't want to play along. pirate:

COP is just vintage Walt Disney. It just oozes Walt. I love it too. :goodvibes

:lmao: That's funny Rob - Club Cool equivalent!!! :rotfl2:

They need a photopass dude in Pirates taking photos of you in your boat... maybe that can be the next idea!

I AGREE 1000% about COP. I love the nostalgia!

I can't believe that mom store right in front of her son. I would have said citizen arrest too! Great upgrade at BLT!

I agree. We were thinking did we really just see that? Crazy huh?

Thanks, it was a nice upgrade. :)

Bad enough that she did it, but in front of her child, or any child, at DISNEY?

Ugh. I wish I could believe that it's not common...

Every DVC should have these! It was our big beef at Vero. You've got all kinds of things that pegs or hooks would be useful for and plenty of wall space....

Fun evening.

Hi Cynthia! Yep! Crazy thieving woman!!

It is so cheap to add hooks/pegs to the walls and there are so many decorative options so if they wanted to keep with a theme it shouldn't be hard to do. :)

I can't believe someone did that, let alone in front of their child!! Wow. I know disney can be super expensive, but...that's just wrong.

I looooovvvvvve Carousel of Progress! It's one of my favorites. It's so unappreciated. I could never get tired of that blissful rotating theater. I'd love to work that attraction.

Ha! Yep, things are not cheap at WDW but the five finger discount is going too far!

Another COP lover!!! Yay!

Someone seriously stole some M&M's from Disney World? What? That's ridiculous.

I love CoP too! It's a classic, ya gotta love it! :thumbsup2

Can I just say how amazing I think your Disneyland tour sounded? The part about Walt's apartment with the former Mouseketeer made me cry! SO sweet.

Unless I didn't catch her throwing a few bucks at the cash register and saying I'll just take a handful to go she's pretty much a thief. Yeah... that didn't happen.

The tour was pretty incredible!!

Seriously, people's moral compasses and integrity can be really way off!! I couldn't imagine doing that let alone in front of my kids. I'm a firm believer in leading by example, and well unless you want your kid to think its ok....

Other than that great update! I do like those bag hooks, I am forever hanging things on the backs of chairs or putting them on the islands,,,, :)

Oh and I want to add- I LOVE LOVE LOVE the peoplemover! People think I'm nuts for loving that ride and the railroad so much....

I agree Sarah! I love your taste in attractions/rides! The train is so fun too. What a great way to rest your feet and see the park. Maybe that's why I love the People Mover too!

I don't have much to add on the candy thief, but it's sad that many of these kids are going to be exactly like their parents when they grow up. :sad2:

Apparently the new Rapunzel area is gorgeous, but I wish it had more substance besides restrooms and benches.

Finally, you're making me miss CR/BLT! The countdown has already begun - less than 10 days to go until we're checking into CR. :goodvibes

We'll have a new generation of candy filtchers soon!

I'm definitely paying attention to the Rapunzel bathrooms next trip.

YAY!! You're so close to your trip. I will look forward to seeing your live dining reviews!!!

Wow!!! I don't suppose it was free banana day?? Just wow!

Some people are just so...ugh! What is that woman teaching her son?! People are just crazy!

Nice shots of Carousel of Progress. Can you believe I still haven't been on that? Hopefully soon!

Yep - ugh! ;) You HAVE to see that attraction sometime!!!! It is old school but in a fantastic way. If you love Americana you would love this.

I haven't been on Carousel of Progress in AGES! I think I'll need to put that on my to do list for October. Your Captain Hook impression had me :rotfl:

The candy thief was unbelievable. Although I've seen similar behavior here and there in and out of Disney, it gets me upset every single time. Some times I end up ratting them out. I also have this fantasy of confronting someone like the candy thief and shaming them by offering them to pay for the candy they're stealing so that they wouldn't have to set such a poor example for their children - but I'm too chicken to do something like that. :rotfl:

I think I would like the lake view more. I think I am the only one though. LOL
Nice room.
I love Tony’s. Been there twice and never had a bad meal.
The “Walk in Walt’s Footsteps tour” looked great. If I ever get there I will put that on my list.
Citizen’s arrest. LOL. That is rude of her to do.
C.O.P. LOVE IT! Just sang the song to Vinny. LOL
All caught up.

Catching up! Loving all your photos. :thumbsup2 We haven't been to Tony's in forever, but that pistachio crème brulee sounds delish!! And I love Em's Ariel shirt - so pretty! Totally agree on the hooks/coat hangers. I can never understand it when some Disney rooms don't have any hooks. It would be such an easy thing to install, and it adds SO much to the convenience. ::yes::

Thanks so much for sharing the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour with us. Sounds like this was a class act/tour from beginning to end! What a great pin!

An apartment with a space overlooking Main Street and the Jungle Cruise? That is some prime real estate!

Crime Scene! :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Of course, as you know from your incident with the gummy sharks, that was probably about $20 worth of M&Ms she took.

Hmmm...I think that is another crime right there!

My goodness.. you are staying connected from afar!! You win for the Dis buddy with the longest distance response. I hope your trip is going well!

You have NEVER been on CoP?? You MUST do it sometime. Disney at his finest moment - at last circa 1930s or so.

I guess it is confirmed that I'm the type of person that just watches it happen and doesn't spring into action! I would have loved it had someone said something. ;)

I actually agree with you on the LV for the sunrise. Sunsets over Seven Seas Lagoon wins for TPV. (If you can ignore that there is a huge parking lot right below.) Now if they would just have a villa that spanned the entire width of the tower that would be something.

Ahhhh another Tony's lover. There's not many of us out there.

I'm sure Vinny is thanking me about now for putting that song in your head.... "it's a great big beautiful tomorrow.. shining at the end of every day...." I caught you singing again huh?

Catching up! Loving all your photos. :thumbsup2 We haven't been to Tony's in forever, but that pistachio crème brulee sounds delish!! And I love Em's Ariel shirt - so pretty! Hi there! I can appreciate your fashion commentary since your are the QUEEN of adorable fashions. I can't wait to see them make an appearance in your TR! Ariel is Em's favorite so it just made sense to buy the tee shirt. :)

Agreed!! More hooks in the rooms please Disney! I should bring some of those 3M stick on/pull off versions.

Hi Dee. That really was a great tour. :thumbsup2 I'm looking forward to doing a Holiday version of the tour this winter.

Ha! You have a great memory with the gummy sharks. Its not every day you see a thief in action at WDW!

Please hang in there for a brief pause while I travel to Vegas for a brief business trip. I'll be back by Friday night and hopefully update then.

Safe travels!

Can you just imagine the nerve of that woman to just take the candy and walk out? Wow. Hopefully karma catches her some day!
Hehe adorable pics outside of potc!
I LOVE carousel of progress, it's so nostalgic and cute.

Okay I am finally caught up again.

Thank you so much for sharing the Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour. It looked amazing, and that pin so awesome! I have never been on any of the tours at WDW but definitely looking forward to them when our son is older!

I can't believe that M&M thief! I would never have the nerve to say something to them but would love to if I ever caught one!

Loving the BLT pictures!!! We are thinking about renting points on one of our upcoming trips to stay there. I love those hooks. I wish they had them in every room!

You and your daughter are so fashionable! I absolutely love the black shirt that you are wearing on your intro, and your daughters green ariel shirt. In WDW (especially this last one, my first trip as a sleep deprived mom!) I am usually just in shorts & a Disney tee and let the hair and makeup go. You and your daughter always look so great! Very photogenic!

Las Vegas is too too hot currently- I hope you're staying cool! I was trying to make it over there last weekend to watch the taping of the American Ninja Warrior finals (haha) but it didn't work out. Next time!

I really enjoyed reading all of the historical info from your Walt tour. The story of Walt watching all of his guests stream into DL in the morning was so wonderful- he is such an inspiration.

The M&M bandit should be ashamed!! She was probably like: "I spent $10,000 on this vacation and I'm taking these M&Ms!!"

I'm baaaaack!!

I have jet lag and a ton of laundry - urgh :(

The trip was off the scale AMAZING though!!

Loved catching up on your TR and yet another upgrade, do you think you could come with me to the check in desk in December to work your magic ;)

Isn't the Walk In Walt's Footsteps Tour great? I'd love to do it again as it's such a wonderful tour

Right back to the laundry!

Have fun in Vegas!!
Why thank you! It was as much fun that I could have with my boss tagging along! :)

Safe travels!

Hi Wendy! It would be fitting if the M&Ms gave them a mouth full of cavities!

Definitely CoP is one of my go to attractions in Tomorrowland. Glad you like it too.

Stay cool in Vegas!! I heard that they are having record high temperatures!

Oh my it was hot. 107 on Thursday. :scared: We left before the weekend warmed up!

Okay I am finally caught up again.

Hi there! Thanks for continuing to follow along. :)

I know, I'm like you.. no nerve to say anything at the time but boy if they cuffed the M&M thief I would have been front and center saying I saw it all!

Awww you are so sweet! Thanks for noticing our Disney wear! Well, at least that first photo you noted was Disney.

Ha! I try not to post photos where I look like a dork since I have complete editorial rights with this TR!! There are horrible photos out there I just chose not to share!!

I just subscribed to your TR. What a travel day fiasco!

Oh man it was a scorcher but I wasn't out in the Vegas heat too much. We had dinner at Mon Ami Gabi on the patio facing the Bellagio fountains. It wasn't too bad even though it was still over 105 at the time because of the misters and the fans.

I agree, the first hand account of what it was like to see Walt's reaction on opening day was precious! I'm glad you enjoyed reading.

Ha!! That's too funny! Disney is an expensive vacation destination so they won't miss a handful of candy!! :rotfl:

Right back to the laundry!

Hi Linda!! I definitely want to see some photos of your trip. I'm so glad you enjoyed your cruise. :) Rest up since I know you are back to work on Monday.

Heck, if I knew the secret of the upgrades I would definitely help you out. I think we had our run of luck next will probably be the trip where everything goes wrong. ;)

I thought you did Walk in Walt's Footsteps in April as well. I'm doing the holiday version later this year with my friends. You may have noticed Don whom you met in April in the photo of Walt's apartment as well.

Take care my friend! :goodvibes

Thursday February 28, 2013: Day 6, Part 1

The day dawned beautiful and sunny with the temperature a cool 50 degrees. I was up after 7am excited for our breakfast plans.

Following the tradition of our first breakfast after check in at BLT, we were going to go to the resort that boasts a great ceremonial house, tiki torches, and home of the lapu lapu. Breakfast was none other than Kona Café. Without fail, I have been completely satisfied with my breakfast choice! Yes, “choice”, singular….I ordered my favorite WDW breakfast in 2010 and have NEVER strayed since.

We had an 8:40am ADR at Kona Café… lucky for us it is only a 5 minute monorail ride from Contemporary Resort.

DSC01235.jpg

We were seated and introduced to Cindy, our server. We were handed menus but we had as much need for those as we did a fast pass for the friendship boats. We knew weeks ago, no, months ago, no…. make that years ago what we would order. Em is a Tonga Toast lover while I’m a huge fan of the pancakes. But no ordinary pancakes… the first few times we ate at Kona I ordered the pineapple macadamia nut pancakes which were good but the macadamia nuts in the pancakes was a little much for me. Eventually I started to order the regular pancakes and ask for the pineapple topping and macadamia nut butter on the side. (Thank you from the bottom of my belly for that suggestion you Dining Disboard peeps!) From looking at the menu and comparing it to my receipts, I have not been charged extra for this special order.

Note: This was the last day that red velvet pancakes were being offered on the breakfast menu. They didn’t tempt me when I had my usual to rely on. I stayed true to the pineapple macadamia nut version.

DSC01263.jpg

The pancakes were awesome as always. I don’t eat breakfast meat so I ordered an egg as a substitute. Em did the same. As amazing as the pancakes were, I was only able to eat about ½ the stack. I will be back to try again! If my kid wasn’t such a tonga toast fan, I’d split an order but neither of us are willing to give up our favorites.

After breakfast we were headed to MK for the day.

We didn't make it past the entry plaza before I had Em pose with me for a photopass photo.

Photo0123FourBySix.jpg

It was rather quiet on Main Street when we arrived at 10:45am. There were no Dapper Dans, no Main Street Philharmonic band, no Mayor Christopher Weaver, No trolley performers, No Citizens of Main Street such as Beatrice Starr, Hildegard, and Victoria. However, we did run into Constance and Scoop Sanderson, with whom we posed for photos and moved on.

DSC01354.jpg

DSC01355.jpg

We had to pose with the castle in the background. The Mickey & Pals show on the castle stage with a pop of fireworks was just ending.

DSC01362.jpg

DSC01367.jpg

We’d made it to the end of Main Street by the time the Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It parade was starting. We rarely stop to watch the parade but today I was feeling a bit sentimental since I love the “Celebrate You” song at the end which was the soundtrack for our Grand Marshal moment. (see signature story) Em decided that she wanted to go on Haunted Mansion so we split up so I could have my moment and she could have some haunting fun.

DSC01373.jpg

DSC01374.jpg

What I love about this parade is the audience participation for twisting and shouting (although I never heard any shouting) and shaking your tail feathers. However, before the dancing began, I observed this very serious CM seriously patrolling his assigned section of the street making sure that no-one strayed into the “danger zone”. If you had a foot hanging over the curb, he would spring into action and move you back to safety. He was wearing dark sunglasses and I wondered if he had an earpiece and was packing some heat….he was definitely taking his duties seriously.

DSC01401.jpg

DSC01404.jpg

Em met back up with me not long after so we decided that we would head to Fantasyland and see Mickey’s Philharmagic. Along the way we picked up Peter Pan fast passes. Back in Philharmagic land, all ended well and Donald was once again put in his place, errr, actually, the back wall of the theater.

DSC01424.jpg

Next up, Snow White’s grotto. Em wanted to throw a coin in Snow White’s wishing well and listen to her sing. Coin is tossed…. We are waiting… waiting… hey, no song! At Disneyland, you hear Snow White’s “I’m Wishing” song. At least the coins go to children’s charities so it’s for a good cause!

Oh yummy yummy kona breakfast! I'm definitely a tonga toast girl. I wish I could say I would try the pancakes, but I just like the tonga toast way too much!
I really like the celebrate you parade song too. I don't have a particularly happy memory associated, just the song is happy and catchy! :D
I love Philharmagic too. Although I really don't love the cattle herding, personal-space-what? queue area. Give me a roped off line to follow in an orderly fashion any day!

Another fan on Tonga Toast here, although I have heard on multiple occasions that those pancakes are fabulous.

What a great way to start the morning. Love that view of the GF. Let's face it, any view from BLT/contemporary is just fabulous!

Looks like the start of a great day. :thumbsup2

It looks like a beautiful day at MK! Also, love the idea with the butter and pineapple on the side at Kona. Those pancakes look tempting, but I know I wouldn't like the nuts in them.
