"These 1st timers go to Disney and get hooked!!! (UPDATE 4/10!)" trip report

Check Walmart or Target for the ponchos - you can usually find them for just a dollar or two, as opposed to the $10+ for them at WDW.
I can pack the two of us in a carry-on bag when we're flying, although I usually don't - we need the extra suitcase room for the souvenirs! :)

oh, and on the rental car vs. buses question... I've driven to WDW once, and will most likely drive for all 3 (yes, 3!) of our trips in 2009... never once in the trip before where we had the car have we moved it from the parking spot outside our room. I haven't found waiting on buses to be problematic, or especially long, except for one time, on the last 3 trips we've taken. BUT... I think you said your son is only a year old, right? So I'm guessing still in diapers? You might want to rent a car just for the day you arrive, so you can run to the local Walmart & buy the week's supply of diapers there, so you don't have to try to cram them into one of your suitcases.

I'll have to look again at Walmart, maybe I missed them. Thanks for the packing tips. I so wish just a carry-on was possible LOL!

I think we may have an idea for our departure day. DH was hinting he would like to go to Seaworld. If we do use the rental we could head there after check out and stay until we have to head to the airport. I'll have to do more research. :surfweb:

We found our ponchos, plus tons of Disney pens, cards, paper, sunglasses and trinkets at the Dollar Store. They even had the spray mist fans and glow jewelry.

There's a couple of different places where Walmart "hides" them... the first is near the accessories, where the umbrellas are... second, you can sometimes find them in the sporting goods/camping area... I think I've also seen them near the suitcases with the travel wallets, inflatable pillows, etc.

If there's a Target near you, check there as well, in the same areas that I mentioned for Walmart. I also saw some recently at JCPenney in the accessories section with the umbrellas.

Well, it's officially 2009. Now I get to say "We're going to Disney this year!!!"

I said that to DW new years day!!! We'll be there roughly the same time you guys are. I've only been a couple times, and never with young uns so your list looks pretty good to me...

Macie and I are going to Disney On Ice (Celebrating 100 years of magic) on Sunday. So looking forward to our little prelude to our Disney trip. I'll post some pics when we get home if anyone is interested.:)

We had a really good time at Disney on Ice. It was a variety of various Disney movies. Macie was able to shake hands with the Genie and Jasmine so she was excited. We started a countdown calendar this month and she is having fun marking off the days every night. She really didn't talk about the trip much until now. I think now that it's getting closer, she pays more attention. We received our personalized maps from Disney so she's been having fun with those too.

Looks like so much fun. My DD wanted to go to HSM on ice, but it was during November and I couldn't trust the weather and a 3 hour car ride. I almost to the double digits and even closer to being able to make our ARD's. Can't wait!

subbing, will be back to read. Can't wait to see how it goes, my youngest is 20 months old.

Thanks for joining!! I can't wait to see how our little one reacts to everything.

added: I just read through your whole trip report. Great job. Your boys are adorable and are, I'm sure, so much bigger now. I like how you just went with the flow on your trip. We just plan on seeing and doing what we can. We have our list of things we want to do will see what happens.

So excited today!!! We made our final payment 1 month early!! We did 1/2 as deposit so had 1/2 left. It seems so surreal that we are taking this trip and now everything is paid for. We even have our budget of spending money set aside and are so ready to go. Gonna pull out the tub of stuff that I have been buying and setting aside to actually inventory what we have and what we need to get. Gotta get DD some new bathing suits. For any readers that have gone end of March early April, can we swim or is it chilly? For us NYorkers, the average temps for that time of year are like a heat wave but just want to be realistic.

Good for you. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we can use our tax return to pay our trip. Otherwise...there is always spring farming. I hate to use cc. We went to Orlando in April a couple years ago. Shh...we never made it to WDW. It was nice 70's and even some 80's. We were in the pool a lot, even made it to the beach one day.

Just found your trip report in the March thread, I'm going in March as well!

Subbing so I can keep up!

Thanks for coming by!! I'm going to assume your name is Trina. That's my sister's name and that's what I still call her!!!!

Paid $700 dollars...today the end is in sight!!!

Doesn't it feel good. It just makes it that much closer.

I haven't posted much lately. I was talked into co-leading my DD's Brownie troop with one of her BFF's Mom. We are so busy trying to organize the chaos left by the last leader and plan activities for the remainder of the year. We are actually having fun doing it but it is more work than I thought. I started buying our travel size stuff. I just love these things!! Got an email today that our flight times changed, about an hour earlier for each. This is the second time they have changed. Checked out my tub that I've been stashing all my purchases. Looks like DS is all set and need a few more outfits for DD. Got her 2 bathing suits this weekend and some flip flops. I got some cute t-shirt DISigns from here on the boards, now I gotta start working on them. I can't believe our tripis almost under 2 months away!!!:cheer2:

Another exciting day!! I posted the other day that our flights changed again. Well, I have been kicking myself for not adding the 4th to our trip ( it's DD's birthday). I called JetBlue for the heck of it to see if they would offer anything for the inconvenience. They didn't offer but I asked what the probability was of getting our return flight switched to the next day without charge. The guy had me on hold for a while and then came back with "good news and bad news". He could switch the flight no problem but the tax percentage went up and we would have to pay the difference - 60 cents!!!! We added on an extra day to Pop and with the 4/3 promo, all that cost us was the extra day of the DDP. So my little girls first Disney trip will now include her birthday (which we don't fly out until 6:15pm). She is so excited about getting her birthday gift card.

Updated my itinerary post. We have already booked more ADR's than our DDP allows (pay OOP for some obviously). Trying to think of something for the extra time we'll be in Disney now. Hopefully I'll be able to get something this late in the game.

We'll be there when you are!! We are so excited!

Right back at ya!! I would love to here about your stay at the campground. I love camping and my DH was not having it this time. We've camped our last 3 vacations and he wasn't having it this time in any way shape or form.

OK, I pre-ordered our photo pass CD today. I sure hope this is worth it and we get lots of photos. I am the camera person and I take tons of pics (DH got me an 8gb memory card for Christmas just for this trip). I just seem to never be in any pictures!!! The photo pass people will hopefully help out in this!! ;)
