Theres a SQUIRREL in the fireplace SAD UPDATE

AND there was a racoon on the porch last night.

My dad ran a rope down the chimney for the squirrel to climb out but that hasnt worked, everyone is out of small live traps.
The last place my mom called recomended rat poisin, we dont want to kill the little guy, but he has been in there for 4 days.
My dad wont be home till monday and and laughed when my mom told him id been sneaking him in some banana and strawberries.

were not quite sure how to get him out without the trap, sure dont want him or her running around the house.

We seem to have more animals around lately.I sure was suprised to see the racoon in my moms flowers.

We have also in the past couple weeks had 2 green frogs, a turtle, a hog snake and 2 mice in the pool.

There may be a nest in there.My parents started thier wood stove and the flew didnt work right.So they got someone to check the chimney and there was a whole family of red squirrels in there.Unfortunately the smoke killed them before we knew they were inside.

I cannot beleive how attached I got to this little fella I even named him spud.
We tried really hard to help him, I made sure he had food and my dad bought a live trap, but spud wouldnt go in it.
He would hide on a shelf in the fireplace where we couldnt see him otherwise my dad probably would have used a net to get him out.

Last night when we were reseting the trap we noticed spud was having like a seizure but it was different, he was bitting at anything he could get a hold of inluding his foot and when we made noise he ran towards the door.
Ive never seen anyone act like that before. It broke my heart.
I left for a few minutes and could no longer see spud we think he fell down where the ashes go.
Im assuming that spud is dead, my mom called the dnr and they said he may have had rabies but that it was more likely that he went nuts being confined.
He looked really sick to me , I was crying my mom was crying all over this little squirrel we knew for seven days.I was really hoping that spud would survive this.

I have a feeling that spud is going to smell funny know.

So sorry to hear of the outcome. It sure sounds like you tried real hard to get him out alive.
