There's a Crack in the Sidewalk! Take a Picture! UPDATE 8/13

Great pictures, as usual. I love how you get shots of little details:goodvibes The car was in its proper place when we were there in June so you must be right. They must have just taken it out for a refurb.

What a great story! DS is an awesome brother...those boys aren't going to get away with anything on HIS watch! LOL! :rotfl:

No they're not! He's protective of his mom too. I saw my neighbor who I grew up with about a month ago. He's like a brother - he's married and has a daughter that is 1 but he's been over in Iraq and missed out on her first year of life. I saw him and gave him a hug - well, DS went right over and pushed him away!

How cute!

Thanks!

That is too cute!!!

:goodvibes

Okay. I was curious to see who you are so I started looking through your TR's. I will admit I only looked at the pictures. I barely have time for that...since I started the kids back to school this week. I'm trying. Don't hate me.

I can tell one thing from the pics so far...you love Johnny Depp and you have a good camera...you probably mentioned it but like I said...I cheated. What kind of camera/lens are you using? Your pictures are BEAUTIFUL! You definitely have a good eye! :thumbsup2

Oops...never mind on the camera. I was glancing through and saw Canon XTi. Where do you rent the lenses from? I wish we had a place that rented here. Then I could see what I really want to buy.

Your kids are cutie pies by the way! They're dressed so cute too. That picture of your babies foot in the sand is so stinking cute! Great pix of T Rex! Okay....I'm at the end. No more pics yet. I'm saving the page though. OMG I so need to finish up that May TR. Ugh!. I'm going to clone myself so I can leave one of me on the computer all day...

I can't wait to meet ya! Are you doing the cab share with us? (It's not in front of me right this sec so I don't know...if not you should join in!!!) Oh and have we swapped phone numbers yet? I swear...I am so not this clueless....it's just the sun. I blame it on the SUN! :rotfl2:

Thanks for joining in! I actually rent through a place online - they are located in Florida. I've rented from them a few times. I love the lens I was using for the trip and I'm hoping that for next year will have my very own! I'm also hoping to upgrade the camera too - looking at the Canon 5d. Not sure if I will have that next year or not though.

Yup - got it in a nutshell love Johnny Depp, photography and my kids - that's me!

Thank you - glad you like my photos!

No I'm not in the cab share and we haven't swapped numbers yet - I will get that to you soon!

Great pictures, as usual. I love how you get shots of little details:goodvibes The car was in its proper place when we were there in June so you must be right. They must have just taken it out for a refurb.

The car shows back up later on in the trip. I haven't processed those pictures yet to see if I did get a pic of the kids in the car then or not .

great update!!! we will have to def. try the SCI_FI next year...
I think I'm getting too many on my list --

It was lots of fun!

I was once again outnumbered when it came to getting the kids in the stroller. DS wanted to run around. And run he did – right past the NYPD barricade on NY Street.

584804910_Tkq5G-L.jpg

A very nice Photopass photographer let Pop Pop move the barricade to catch my running DS. Funny, how it was like he knew he wasn’t supposed to go past it, but since he is small and was able to walk right under it – it was like a chase!

584805006_S2u3R-L.jpg

I will admit that I was annoyed. I know, there was no harm done and we placed the barricade back, thanking the CM, but annoyed at being vetoed about the stroller situation over and over. Trying to shove that aside, I pushed the empty stroller and parked it by the Muppets.

584805237_wfXg8-L.jpg

The pre-show was about half-way through and DD and DS collected the 3-D glasses for us all to wear.

I always laugh when I see this:

584805623_twqwr-L.jpg

584805760_PUVBU-L.jpg

This was the first time I noticed the CM state no flash photography, not no photography. Maybe I just always assumed it was no photography since it was a movie. I decided to take the opportunity to grab a picture of Stadler and Waldorf. A bit too far away, I placed a mental post-it to attempt to get closer seats next times.

584805986_UztP6-L.jpg

Now, I mentioned that DD and DS had gotten the 3-D glasses for us. Well, we only made sure there were enough for each of us to see the show. We didn’t count on needing extras. DS wanted to wear 2 – one for his eyes and one to wear on top of his head like his mommy wears her sunglasses. DD wanted a pair to wear correctly and another she fashioned as a belt. The other 2, DSis and DBIL were able to get in time as the movie started. Midway through, DS handed Pop Pop the extra glasses, but I was left to watch Muppet Vision 3-D sans 3-D. The 4-D effects – that is the water squiriting also wasn’t working. At first I thought maybe it was just my seat but there was no real reactions from the audience, so I think the entire system was malfunctioning. The bubbles did work and I enjoyed watching DD and DS try to catch and pop them.

With Kermit assuring us that Muppet Labs and the theater only suffered minor damage we exited the theater and I had the wonderful job of getting DD to place the glasses in the receptacles. She proudly collected them but did not want to give them up. Just then, we discovered that DS’s pacifier was missing. He had it when we walked into the theater but now it was gone. Pop Pop ran back into the theater which was filling up with people to see if he could find it while I played a game with DD to get her to turn in the glasses. The CM standing guard found it amusing. Since everyone had exited the theater, we placed one pair of glasses in one bin, then ran to the next, around that one to the third, etc. In the end, Disney got all 6 glasses back and we avoided a waterworks display from DD. Crisis avoided and Mommy earned her 'Think on her feet' merit badge!

The pacifier was officially gone. Pop Pop couldn’t find it. Never fear, I always carry a spare! Now, before the trip I had been telling DS that he had to give his pacifiers to the It’s a Small World dolls, but he didn’t like that idea. I was hoping to get rid of them, but it wasn’t meant to be. I’m still trying to get rid of them although he doesn’t like kids, especially girls to see him with them in public.

We made a quick walk through the Kermit store on our way back to the stroller parking. Pop Pop took the kids over to the pin cart to pin trade and he bought a couple of mystery fast past pins. I believe he got EE and Maelstrom.

I caught Rizzo fishing in Miss Piggy’s fountain – and it looks like he caught a Hidden Mickey!

DSis checked her watch and told DBIL they should head over to the AI theater since it would be starting in 30 minutes. We walked part way with them and made a stop in Writer’s Stop to grab some cookies and water for everyone. I, however, would have liked this tasty looking treat!

584806445_d3vNZ-L.jpg

Pop Pop and I had absolutely no desire to see AI and had decided to take the kids to see Lights, Motor, Action which would be performed the same time as AI. We said, “see ya later!” to DSis and DBIL and walked back towards the Streets of America. We thought it was odd that noone was around, but quickly figured out why. Pop Pop looked at his cell phone and noted the time. We were 1 ½ hours early for the show – meaning that DSis and DBIL were also 1 ½ hours early for their show too. Seconds later, I get a text from DSis noting her ‘Duh!’ moment and she said that they were headed to RnR.

I decided to let DD and DS run around at the Honey I Shrunk the Audience playground. I took DD here last year and had a hard time keeping up with her – this time I had 2 and even with Pop Pop it was twice as hard. I can’t crawl on my knees as fast as kids can run through those tunnels!

My kids love slides! So we spent much of our time going up and down the various slides in the area!

As Pop Pop chased DS in one of the tunnels, I played evil mommy. I told DD to stand right here, and don’t move.

584769109_myLUE-L.jpg

Yup. I wanted a picture of her getting wet! The reaction: “Hey, Mommy no fair!”

We spent quite a bit of time in here and before long I realized that we should make our way to the outdoor arena.

I had a runner he seems to have outgrown (I hope--cause as he gets older he gets faster). Love the final two pics; all are fun but that is priceless...

Too funny about the kids wanting to use the glasses as fashion accessories. You're in trouble. They are starting young:goodvibes Fun pictures of the playground too. That place is always a madhouse. You can look forward to when your kids are older and you don't have to chase them around the exhibits anymore. Even when they are older they still want to play there though:goodvibes

Between reading your pre-trippie for this trip, the pre-trippie for the next and this trip report, I am all caught up.

I am enjoying your reports. Your children are beautiful, being from a huge Italian family, I love their names. I especially loved reading your Christmas dinner report, reminds me so much of my family.

Can't wait to read more.

Ahhhh.....The life of a child on a Disney playground. Now that is the life I would like to have every day!. :earsboy:

Just catching up -- love the updates! And mmm...that cupcake from Writer's Stop looks SO good! :thumbsup2

Loving the report!!! Your children are too stinking cute!!! I see your from NJ, what part of the Jersey shore are you from? We live right around south Philly. We're practically neighbors:-)

I have to say, I think that it is awesome that you and your ex still get along and are able to go on vacation with your children together!! I wish I had that sort of relationship with my ex... Most of the time I just want to ring his neck, but he;s darn good to our son so that's all that matters!

Can't wait for the next installment!

Loving your report so far.... still have a lot to catch up on though.

Your kids are adorable and I'm loving your pictures so far.

How long does the running stage last? See DS is the first boy in the family. We are used to girls. I need to know if I should invest in good running shoes. :rotfl2:

DD is quite a shopper - I taught her from a baby. So yes, I am in trouble and it's all my fault!

I'm looking forwrd to them getting a bit bigger in those playgrounds just bc there are sometimes kids who push the littlier ones around. I just don't want them to get hurt - don't want them to push or anything back.

Glad you like their names - there will be a story about DD's name in Epcot later on!

Me too!

I'm in Monmouth County.

Trust me, I have many moments that I want to do that to my ex. Hoping that this trip will allow us to be friends and close previous chapters of our lives.

Loving your report so far.... still have a lot to catch up on though.

Your kids are adorable and I'm loving your pictures so far.

Thank you! Glad you joined in!

yes, excellant running shoes; I even bought something I never thought I would...a child harness--both of his are really cute one is a monkey backpak the other a blue back pak w/cup holder...both are great, again I never thought I would own one but it gives him what he thinks is freedom and me peace of mind...

They had opened the seating already and despite being 30 minutes early, we weren’t early enough to get centerstage seating. Darn! I had a few picture opportunities that I wanted to try, but needed to be centered.

As we entertained the kids, I could see they were getting a bit restless. The sky also seemed to be getting dark – that stormy grey, in the direction of AK – if my bearings are correct. Uh oh! Would there be a storm?

584774404_6FtHk-L.jpg

584774530_gXivV-L.jpg

Soon enough the car chase begun and before the end of the first act, both DS and DD were sound asleep. I felt so bad for DS, especially as he loves “Vroom, Vrooms.”

584774998_uxJSg-L.jpg

As the show went on, the sky cleared up, and I noticed this stunt guy who just sat here for the almost the entire show. I imagine he has a part, maybe they don’t perform each show but are there for safety reasons, etc? The only time he moved from the seat was in the final scene with the person on fire, he walked onto the stage area and talked to someone during the sequence.

584775984_a58hP-L.jpg

Why did I notice this? Not sure. Is this relevant to the story? Not really.

I missed out on the photo opportunities bc I was centered. This is what I got instead.

584776867_GtpVF-L.jpg

584776968_nbWPv-L.jpg

The show was over and I realized that Herbie didn’t make an appearance. Now the last time I saw this show was in 2006 bc I’m not a huge car fanatic so this isn’t a must-see every trip for me. I asked a CM and she said he occasionally makes appearances.

We carried the kids out to the strollers and DD woke up as I tried to lay her in it. Darn! I have this rotten luck with her waking up when I try to move her as she sleeps. DS was still sleeping. I got a text message from DSis that they would meet us by TSM. We could use our fast passes! Woo Hoo!

Pixar Place was still crowded and congested. It seemed like and the Narnia exhibit just let out a group of people and the line for TSM was at 95 minutes. DSis and DBIL were waiting for us and we parked the stroller. Picking up DS I was starting to wake him up a bit. Now, I heard quite a bit about this ride and especially the queue. Unfortunately, there are no pictures bc I was carrying DS. We walked into the fast pass line and I was impressed by the props and décor. In the fast pass line, however, you skip a lot of it so I really only caught a glimpse of Mr. Potato Head.

We spent our waiting listening to DBIL rave about AI. “It was awesome.” “Simon was spot on, etc” He mentioned going to the finale later on. It was about 10 minutes before we boarded the ride. We gathered our 3-D glasses and I took DS with me, Pop Pop and DD rode together, and DBIL and DSis were in a separate car behind us.

I wasn’t expecting it to move so quickly so with the first swing turn, poor DS slid in the car and bumped his head. He was fine, but then he didn’t want to wear the glasses. I immediately had one arm around him and was trying to pull the string to hit the target. I wasn’t even finished with the first game before I came to the conclusion that it is just a glorified video game made to look like you’ve been put in the middle of it. I was bored by it. Had I been by myself I would have stopped playing and just vegged for the remaining portions of the ride, but DS was trying his might to pull the string to play so being the good mommy that I am, I helped him hit as many targets as we could and the smile on his face was priceless when I told him he beat me. He is so cute! (Even now as he throws breaks his slices of cheese into little pieces and throws them across the floor.)

DBIL and DSis really enjoyed the ride. Pop Pop had the same thoughts as me and I’m not really sure what DD thought of it. Pop Pop said she did wear the 3-D glasses for the ride, and tried to pull the string too.

My final thoughts on TSM: if you or your child enjoy video games, then it is a must do and loved by all. Honestly, I prefer Buzz Lightyear Ranger Spin and would take that any day over TSM. Not being into videogames, I would only fast pass this attraction if I wasn’t planning on getting a FP for ToT or RnR. For me, I wouldn’t wait more than 10 minutes for this attraction. However, that being said I’m sure that in a few weeks I will be on this attraction as exDH is big into video and carnival type games.

Shield up and helmet on to ward off the bushels of flying debris about to thrown at me.

DBIL and DSis decided to go on GMR and possibly another round on RnR. Pop Pop and I decided to take the kids across the way to meet Woody and Buzz. Pop Pop was excited to meet them too – especially Buzz. The line was probably about 15 minutes long we guessed, but occupied the kids by taking pictures of them in the different areas.

584778341_39pmv-L.jpg

We were heading into Woody’s Roundup Corral area when Pop Pop realized that his sunglasses were missing. Prescription sunglasses. Uh oh! I know he had them on during the Motor stunt show and we figured that he lost them during TSM since he puts them on top of his head to wear the 3-D glasses.

We take the kids out of line and backtrack the line and through the people who had gotten in line after us. Pop Pop spoke with the CM outside the TSM entrance.

584779407_SdZSB-L.jpg

584779934_SrfSp-L.jpg

She told him to come back closer to 6pm when they would be able to check for him. Not being able to do anything more at the time, we got back online to meet Woody and Buzz.

584781559_JybuV-L.jpg

Some of the people we walked by on our way out were leaving the line. Apparently, Woody and Buzz were taking a short play break with Andy and the rest of the toys. The family who was directly behind us spotted us back on line. There were 2 families in between us and them. Without our knowledge, she spoke to them and told them how we were online in front of them and needed to leave bc we lost something. The 2 families turned to us and told us to walk ahead. Pop Pop and I were dumbfounded! Then we saw the woman motioning us ahead yelling, “I told them you were online and needed to leave. Take your spot back. We haven’t moved.” First, we declined saying we would wait. What was another 5-8 minutes? When the families insisted, we graciously thanked them and moved back into our original spot. A little pixie dust from fellow guests!

Within 8 minutes we were getting ready to join Woody and Buzz in Andy’s room. DD and DS could not stop staring at them. They wouldn’t look at the camera. I think it is bc Buzz’s costume is especially intricate.

584781901_UAQ9Y-L.jpg

584782189_SWs9S-L.jpg

I commented to Buzz that I thought it was smart that he had a stamp made instead of signing his name all the time.

584782432_FTsHW-L.jpg

He gave me the thumbs up!

584783035_sFPSg-L.jpg

A few quick pictures and we waved goodbye to our new friends.

DD mentioned that she was thirsty, so I walked next door and purchased a drink and yup – popcorn! In the words of Pop Pop, “What’s a day in Disney without popcorn?”

I get a text from DSis stating that she and DBIL were going to watch the AI finale at 6 - park closing. Since Pop Pop had to check back at TSM around then, we wondered around just a bit allowing the kids and Pop Pop to munch on their popcorn.

Around 5:55pm we went back to TSM and about 10 minutes later a CM walked out with Pop Pop's sunglasses. Whew! Crisis avoided.

Since the park was now closed, all we could do was wait for DSis and DBIL.

Coming up - Wait, Wait, Wait

Great update:thumbsup2 We've never seen LMA. I think my boys would love it, but they never seem to have a show at a good time for us. I agree with you on TSM. It's a fun ride, but not the best ride at Disney that is for sure! It made me laugh how your kids were so mesmerized by Woody and Buzz. When we met them last they were still over by Pizza Planet. It looks like they have a nice new home:goodvibes And I'm so glad you found Pop Pop's sunglasses:woohoo: That would have been a big bummer if he lost them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was a tad bit disappointed with TSM.

Their meet and greet area is very neat - lots of photo opps to keep the kids entertained while they wait online.

Great update!!! (I posted this once and I don't see it-so I'm trying again)
so glad ya'll found your dad's glasses...and that the other visitors let you back in line...wonderful Disney magic pixiedust:
while we were there DS17 lost DH's keys at DHS during Fantasmic...the magic of disney prevailed they were found and turned into lost and found...
I love the Woody & Buzz photos; I hope we find them next year when we return another of the long list of things we missed due to the rain and crowds...
I really cannot believe we missed so much, but with a two yr old, the crowds, and the weather...we'll make up for it next go round...:thumbsup2

waiting for the next installment so I can see what else I need to add to the list of must do's:rotfl2:

enjoying sharing your vacation with you...:cutie:

This is an awesome pic! I love that even from this perspective, you can see his huge grin!

Too bad DS fell asleep in LMA...he would have loved all the noise and action. I'm actually surprised he was able to sleep through all the revving engines! :confused3

So cool that Pop-Pop got his glasses back...yikes!
