There should be an Easter party at MK

They could call is MVHEP (Mickey's Very Happy Easter Party of course!) I would love to go to the Halloween or Xmas party but we usually go to Disney for Spring Break. Anyone know if they've ever talked of having a special event like this in the spring? I was lucky enough to go to one MVMCP and it was wonderful!

They don't even do the Easter Parade at MK anymore. It used to be televised and we really enjoyed it.

They did try Mickey's Pirate & Princess Party, which took place around the Spring Break/Easter season, but it was a total bust and was cancelled a couple years ago.

On a side note, Universal Orlando does have Mardi Gras. Maybe, Disney could do something like that just for younger kids.

I'm not sure if it would be a big enough draw. Easter is still a very religious holiday, and even though the Easter bunny shifts it away from its religious base, it's not something that people really celebrate for non religious holidays. Halloween and Christmas on the other hand, are primarily celebrated outside of their religious origins, and are celebrated all over the place. Not to mention they both are massive money makers selling a ton of merchandise and gifts each year.

Maybe take a trip to Tokyo Disneyland? They do a fair bit of Easter celebrations. They also celebrate almost everything under the sun, with what seems like a new celebration or party event going on each month.

There was an Easter egg hunt at CSR back in 2004 -- but other than that -- not much in terms of Easter Bunny stuff at all.

Agreed. Easter still smacks (sorry to offend anyone) of religion while Christmas is pretty much a global holiday. Never really thought of Halloween as a religious thing, though.

I think Disney has a pretty good balancing act going with the many religions in the world. I don't think they will upset the apple cart any time soon.

I have always felt that Halloween works well at the MK because it allows WDW to embrace a darker, less cute side. While still fun for ages of all audiences, Halloween is a departure from the norm.

I just don't know that an Easter party would sell to big crowds.

Hard ticket parties are there for one reason. To attract folks into the parks during a slower time of year. Easter is preceded by spring break so that isn't going to happen.

Likewise, no way could they close the parks early enough days during spring break to pull it off.

Yes was just about to post this.

1. Disney doesn't have these hard parties to celebrate a holiday, its to bring people into the parks during at least was traditionally slow times at WDW.

2. That was one of the complaints about the Pirate Parties. Too many days that the MK was closed early and didn't have Wishes.

One other issue is that there really isn't an Easter Season. Though they have somehow stretched the Halloween Season to he beginning of September.

Although I agree they'd never have a party during Spring Break....I wouldn't call October a slower time though, especially since there's a holiday and Food and Wine during that month, which draws a huge crowd.

I believe October crowds have grown over time BECAUSE of the special events. Which is what they were designed to do.

Are there really any "slow" months left at Disney? The marketing folks have been working hard to make sure there aren't.

Each resort has their own egg hunt/candy scatter/activities on Easter morning. Also, we've found that Epcot is a fun park on Easter because they have a few different egg hunt activities. In the end, it's really enough for the kids. The Easter bunny leaves a very cool basket filled with disney items in our room, so the only thing we miss out on is coloring eggs. We've settled that by simply coloring them at home and having an early Easter celebration at home.
