When I booked my DW package at the CBR through GoGo tours two weeks ago, we did not purchase the meal plan. After much debate we changed out minds but GoGo said there is nothing they can do about it...its too late. When I call Disney directly they said I have to go through the tour company. This has got me all fired up now. Is there any other way to get the plan? We depart on April 2nd.

Yes, it is possible. All packages (which is what your trip would be considered if it included dining) must be paid in full 45 days before arriving. The travel agent also might not have the ability to sell Disney packages, just rooms. I have never heard of GoGo, so I would have no idea :confused3 . Call your agent back, or see if you can cancel and book direct with Disney, but be prepared to pay in full at the time of booking.

The agent happens to be my mother and she is not having any luck convincing GoGo or Disney direct. This just sounds sooo stupid. Its not like I'm changing my itinerary or resort. I just want to add a silly meal plan.

Was the dining plan an option when you first booked and they just won't let you make a change? If so you can always cancel and rebook. Otherwise, if GoGo and your mom cannot figure it out, Disney cannot make the change, since your travel agent (GoGo in this case) manages the reservation.

Just to make sure, is this a package that GoGo bought through Disney? Or is it a room only through Disney and GoGo bought the tickets somewhere else?

I agree with a previous poster and most likely it is that GoGo did a room reservation only through Disney. If you are getting any other things (tickets, etc.) it is possible that GoGo has bought them through a source other than Disney directly. Therefore in Disney's eyes you don't have a "package" but rather a room only. Make sense? GoGo probably isn't authorized to sell Disney packages.

Gogo is a major player in the package vacation market. It's the wholesale arm (selling to travel agents) of Liberty Travel which sells only to the public.

That said, Disney is the most flexible package marketer I've seen in my 20 plus years of booking travel, so unless there is no space with Disney, I will always book my client's trips directly with them. Other vendors (Gogo, Funjet, Delta-American-US Airways (insert any airline name here) Vacations, and scores of others may be authorized by Disney, but have their own room/package contracts and allotments with Disney and their own booking/cancel/change terms. Those terms are often much more restrictive than Disney's terms.

For example, the different package and promo codes that Disney effortlessly allows to be changed when a new one comes out would entail a cancel/rebook scenario with another vendor, often with fees or penalties attached. Some vendors allow add-ons or upgrades (such as the DDP) to be made at no charge, others do not and must cancel the booking outright and rebook with the new features. One cannot assume that Disney's policies apply to other companies which can package their own products within Disney guidelines.

Specifically related to the OP problem, Gogo's Disney lineup is probably listing a room/ticket package as a separate product from a room/ticket/dining package. Lots of vendors list this way, so in their eyes you now want to book an entirely different product in their system. I know it doesn't make sense, but many travel companies do this.

Thanks for the info, tinka-belle. :)

To the OP, as you now know, the TA owns the res. Only they can go through Disney. And you have to along with the TA rules, in addition to Disney's.

I agree with others I am guessing you actually were booked a room only res, and then tickets bought separate. Then DDP cannot be added to a room only res.
DDP is part of a WDTC package. Without that, no DDP.

Having to go through a TA to modify their WDW res is a learning process for many.

Sounds like you need to cancel and rebook with either Disney or AAA.

Did GoGo offer you the Dining Plan originally? If so they really need to make that right. Finally, even if they bought your tickets from a reseller or non Disney vendor, that's their problem not yours. Surely they sell enough Disney trips to sell them to another guest. Buddy time to get super ugly.

If GoGo is a wholesaler, I am guessing they do not book WDTC packages. I doubt the DDP was ever offered. :confused3 However have no idea.
I could see where a layperson would book a room, and either select tickets, or agree to buy tickets. However they would not realize these are two separate purchases from a wholesaler that really do not even have to have anything to do with one another. They do not even have to be used at the same time of travel.
A package of course would be all date specific travel and combined at the time of booking.
We often read posts where people book through Expedia and then want to add DDP. No can do. They needed to buy a WDTC package, through WDTC or AAA
OP's frustration is probably from reading posts where others have had no issues with adding a DDP. However those who added a DDP booked through WDTC (or their TA did) or AAA.
DDP cannot be added at check in even due to it being a WDTC exclusive, which is a part of their prepaid package. (Exception being DVC members staying on points who add on DDP in advance.)

OP posted "I booked my DW package...". I think they assumed they booked a package since they had room and tickets. Hwever I am guessing it was not a (WDTC) package. Maybe it was GoGo package of some type GoGo bundled and sold.

Another option, don't know if this would work for sure, is for your travel agent to call Disney and add a one day ticket per person to your package. That would give you a package with Disney and thus eligible for DDP the length of your stay. Might work.

Well actually through Disney they probably just have a room only. Which would entail the usual: cancel the room only and rebook a WDTC package. And again being a wholesaler, not sure they would be getting any different deal than anyone else would. Plus they would keep their separate tickets they bought through GoGo.
Not sure, but I think wholesalers buy rooms and tickets separate through Disney. Basically I think they buy a block of rooms and stacks of tickets at a time.
It would just be interesting to know if they really bought a WDTC package, or a package GoGo created by bundling room and tickets. If it were a WDTC package, I don't see there would be an issue at all for GoGo to book a dining package.
Without rebooking a WDTC package and cancelling what they have (and can), I think the OP is out of luck of using a DDP.
