I came home from a business trip late last night. I heard we had storms earlier in the day, but I missed them.

However, this morning there is siding on my deck. It has to be from my house since I am the only house in the general vicinty with white siding, but I can't see where it came from. So should I just call the builder on Monday and tell him to come figure this out or is he going to think I am an idiot that I can't tell where it came from?

Any suggestions? (The house is less than 6 months old, so the builder will have to fix it, so that is not an issue but I guess it would help if I could figure out where it came from LOL!)

Now that's just too weird!!!

Maybe the builder brought over some extra siding in preparation for the storm and left it on yer deck?

Nahhhhhh - builders ain't THAT nice.

Still could be from a neighbor's house, I saw on the news y'all had some really severe winds.

Let us know, I'm curious, too!

You would be amazed at how far such things can remain airborn in a storm. If you don't see any visible pieces missing, it's more than likely off another house elsewhere. Could be from miles away.

Any hidden panels up in the roof areas, Carol? How much is there, a lot?

Make sure it is the same type of siding you have. I would think a missing spot would be pretty obvious if it came from your own house.

LOL! I guess I wont have to worry about THAT with the log house!:p

It is two pieces of siding one very long and one fairly short. It matches my siding exactly and is still new and clean! Since my house is only 4 months old, the siding is still in pretty good shape.

Dan, there is one spot that is kind of hard to see. Later today when the rain stops I am going to get my step ladder and climb up and look. (My great room has a 4 foot extension and my guess would be that this piece may be from just above that extension which is partially hidden from view by the angle. The house is brick in front with the first floor brick all the way around so all the siding is one the second floor.

My deck is a wreck! The cushions came off the furniture which is not unexpected, but the furniture moved and the cover came off the grill which has never happened before. Makes me glad I missed the storm and did not hit it on my drive home from Atlanta.

Update. I figured out where it came from. Just under the eaves over the garage. It was right on the edge of the house and I guess the wind just caught it! So Monday, morning I get to tell my builder to come reattach the siding!
