A couple months ago a poster on this board was absolutely adamant that you could use FP+ with a 15 minute grace period before the time. Well I just got thrown out of FEA FP+ line 10 minutes prior to my stated time.

It had always been my experience that you COULD NOT but they were so sure of themselves.

Lesson learned.

15 minutes seems excessive. 5 minutes is more reasonable, but with anything FP related, and especially "in demand" rides, you're going to be at the discretion of the CM's as well. So depending on when that poster visited, the crowd conditions, etc, they may have been given a green light by the CM at that time. So, while it didn't work for you, we don't know full out if it won't work for someone else in the right conditions.

From the FP FAQ, Post #2:
- FP return windows for most rides and character M&Gs are 60 minutes long. The FP system normally allows a grace period of 5 minutes before and 15 minutes after the return window, but guests are advised against relying on the grace period. CMs have the ability to override the system and deny entry during the grace period depending on the situation.

It has been this way since FP’s inception, and reported as such in the FP FAQ for just as long. I would be curious to know what post so adamantly claimed otherwise.

CM’s have the discretion to allow any FP+ at any time. Even large groups.

My guess is that was a slow time and the CM said ‘go with God’

Yep, I asked this question last week at the ToT (after the most recent discussion here). It was 10 min before our return time and the CM said the standby was too long, come back 5 min before. Then there was a woman with a group of about 20 people traveling together who had a lengthy discussion with him when their FP didn't work while we were hanging around, and they were all let in. Not sure what their issue was, but it didn't really bother us, we just waited the 5 minutes. I had reported we may have gotten in a little earlier on 7DMT a few days before, luck of the draw I guess.

I agree. That had always been my experience.

I’d have to dig it out. Every time I tried to qualify that it wasn’t the case all the time I’d get something along he lines of “We go all the time, and this is always the case”

But the 5/15 does not require CM discretion. Mickey just turns green.
Agree and my group can also confirm that FoP FP touchpoints turned ‘green’ 7 minutes prior to our scheduled Return Window.

Perhaps the OP asked on a different board or forum? 5/15 has always been the standard here. Even when FP was a subforum, it was 5/15.

We typically use the grace period in our planning. We only had one time where Mickey did not turn green until the actual FP time. That was on 7DMT.

Twice, we entered a FP line before the 5 minutes (mistakenly). In both cases the CM overrode the system and allowed us through. (It was once on Kali River and once on Big Thunder).

I remember years ago at DL where you could pretty much use your paper regular FP anytime after it was valid. They would be strict on start but accept them even hours after the expiration. I remember people on mousewait forums would leave them for people, if they were leaving early etc.

10 minutes? Good grief. You think they could have just let you through

Did they make you go to the back of the line?

At 6 mins before, the tapstile went blue and a CM made me wait once. Meeting Mickey or tinker, can’t remember which. So we waited the minute... she did ask us to wait away from the queue. But no one else entered the queue in the mean time. It was pretty funny (to me at least, the cm didn’t seem amused).

I had concerns re our FP time @ nav'vi -Pandora. Such a long line, we waited almost 45 min got to the front well after the 15 min 'late' time. No issue w/CM letting us thru

Going to guess that more than a few folks had jumped in the line early (past the CM holding the FP sign) as they were standing off to the side of the first touch point, waving folks thru. A few saying they were early :rolleyes1IMO they should go to the back of the line at that point or the CM @ stationed at the end of the ride should be the one checking return times to enter said FP line.
