Robyn - I love the note found story! That was several years ago. Good timing on wearing those shorts again.

Was so terrific to meet you!

So, I have some good news and some bad news...

The Good News! Pictures from the DIS meet are ready.

The Bad News! I am going to wait until I have permission from parents before I post any pictures of children or I will blue-dot the faces if anyone prefers.

Plus, I am having some technical difficulties in transferring the pictures to Photobucket so I can post them.

Just a bit more patience...

I also need to go through the past several days on the thread. I'll hopefully get to that later today or tomorrow morning.

Checking out of the Yacht Club today. We had a nice stay. The walk to Epcot was not long at all. Quick 10 minute walk for us. Funny, we stated here because my teens wanted to use the pool. We used it once. DD caught a cold two days later. Ate at Beaches and Cream. While the ice cream was good, we ordered the hot dog meal and burger meal. Neither was that good. What was really good was the onion rings that we ordered as a side. Now we know what to order.

The room was in good order. We were sad to not find any towel animals each day. Oh well. Always stocked though and it was nice to have a refrigerator.

Hi everyone!

Having my second YC stay at end of Oct for my first F&W visit and am curious how crazy the hotel is? Seems to be fully booked. Last stay was in early Dec so it was pretty dead.

We stayed at YC the last week of Oct last year and had the same concern (was fully booked). It wasn't crazy at all. I think there was a convention and people were staying there but it didn't seem full at all. We had a great time and loved that week. We're actually going the same week this year, trying out BC this time.

Thanks. I picked it because it was so calm compared to other Epcot hotels and then got worried my oasis might not be the same.

Back from vacation, needing to catch up on some sleep. lol.

Our stay at the YC was lovely, despite the saga of the room change...

We had an interesting check in (@ 2:10am) that resulted in us being unnecessarily moved from our originally assigned room 3171 facing the Boardwalk above the lobby exit to the Pool & Friendship boats - to room 4236 facing the back of the convention centre at the most remote far end of the hallways closest to the Beach Club.

The CM checking us in (DD & I) said we had been assigned a King Bed room & decided we would be better off in a 2 queen room. The room view was not mentioned, if it had been I would have just requested a roll away, as it was the ideal location! He started working his magic & voila - 2 queen beds. That didn't seem unreasonable at almost 2:30 am after a travel day, we were exhausted.

But!!!
Worst part --- room 3171 IS a 2 queen room Lagoon View (found that out the next day also - the only King bed rooms on the 3rd floor are 3161/3162) so the whole exercise at 2:10 am was a completely unnecessary mess.

Not to mention the daily trips to the Desk to have DDs Magic Band fixed. It kept flipping back to room 3171 at midnight each night & would not open our room or allow her to charge to the room.

The YC was booked solid due to the Frozen Summer & Unleash the Villains events... the only room options offered the next day were as dismal as the room we had been given :'(
(In case you are wondering why we would book the YC during such a busy time, our plans & booking were made at the end of January long before either event was announced)

So we stayed put, DD was fine with it - I was not.

We were at the YC for 4 nights, then on to the Poly for the remaining 4 nights...
Even under construction, The Poly saved the vacation! lol. As busy & hectic as the YC was, the Poly was serene.

The service was exemplary, the room was perfect. (Aotearoa 3rd floor facing the Lagoon & the Grand Floridian :)) We watched Wishes on our Balcony a few times enjoying a glass of wine. Heaven.

Will I go back to the YC, probably - it is a favourite of ours. But no more middle of the night exhausted check in times... ;)

A clear head may have averted the whole room change thing... maybe.

Photobucket has been acting up for me lately. It wouldn't work at all recently until I downloaded an update to an app (can't remember which one) and then it still wouldn't let me copy an IMG code. I gave up on posting a photo that day. The next time I tried to use it, it cooperated... eventually.

Operation decorate is complete.

You were on the 4th floor, right? We saw your decorations!

We just got back from our first stay at the YC. Our only real request was to have a daybed, which we were not given originally. We requested to be moved to a room with one, which they did immediately. The rooms are very spacious, but the room where the toilet/tub is is very, very small. We were in room 4114. LOVED the location (corner, at the end of the hall, and I don't think there was anyone in the adjoining room), but it was supposedly a garden view...um, no. We had three windows and they all looked out on parking lots. It was fine since we weren't in the room much, but it's very much a stretch to call this room garden view.

Extremely impressed with housekeeping. When we checked in, housekeeping was out in full force on our floor and a woman stopped by to make sure the room was acceptable to us. One day, we forgot to take our Privacy sign off the door, and housekeeping called to see if we wanted the room cleaned. We didn't get back from the park until 4:00 and they still sent someone up while we were at SAB and basically gave the room a turndown service, with chocolates, dimmed lights, etc. It was a nice touch. Then our son had an accident while he was napping, and they sent someone back to redo his bed while we went back to MK (we did strip the bed ourselves and left a tip on the bed because we felt bad since they had just been there).

Loved SAB and liked being within walking distance to DHS, which was the focus of this trip. Each morning and night we walked instead of using the boats and beat the boats every time. I do wish that they'd post a notice when the Friendship boats aren't running. We headed to DHS in the downpour Friday night and decided to take the boat since it was raining. We got to the end of the dock before the captain called over his loudspeaker that the boat wasn't running due to the weather. So then we walked to the bus stop...where we waited an HOUR for a bus. To DHS. Had it not been raining so hard we would have just walked again, because waiting that long for such a short trip is such a waste of time. Yesterday, we just missed a MK bus, but another came by about 10 minutes later so it wasn't that big of a deal.

ETA: Since we walked to DHS, we took advantage of the "secret" entrance/exit near room 1065. This was a HUGE time saver for us, so thank you to whoever posted that tip!

We were at the MK yesterday and John O'Hurley was there shooting some sort of commercial in the stroller parking area outside IASW. I then ran into him again in the YC lobby that afternoon! If the Yacht Club is good enough for J. Peterman, it's good enough for me. :thumbsup2

We are back home from our wonderful stay at the BC.

*snip*

As always you guys are the best and I appreciate all the help you given me planning this trip. I'll go back to lurking and dreaming of our next trip back.

Thanks so much for letting us know how your trip was. Sorry to hear that bringing along a friend for your daughter did not work out well. Glad you were able to make the most of it though!

:cool1:

We will be staying at the Yacht club in exactly 2 weeks. Can't wait!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

:woohoo:

I've been reading some reviews of the BC and some people say that the rooms are dated. When I look at pictures, the rooms seem fine... actually really nice. I know that they are refurbishing the rooms, but I'll be there in December and it's probably unlikely that I'll get a refurbished room.

I think I'll love it... the location alone is worth the price. I'm just wondering your thoughts and opinions. Especially if you've been to Disney lots.

I have seen reviews of the Beach Club Villas that say the rooms are dated as far as the décor. There are some rooms with dings/scrapes/scratches at the Beach Club, and hopefully the upcoming renovation will deal with these issues.

:thumbsup2

We are taking our family (3 sons + one girlfriend 26 26 25 & 16) to Disney the week of Thanksgiving. As a Family, we are staying at POFQ. That being said, I booked a 2 night stay at the YC for just my husband and I prior to the chaos. We will be celebrating our 30th anniversary and look forward to a few quiet days and Epcot also. November can't get here soon enough. :-).

:welcome:

I'll add your anniversary getaway to the Be Our Guest list for November.

:yay:

I know September is a typically slow time and that's why they offer free dining and things. But, it looks like BCR is completely sold out when I will be there in 3 weeks. I'm guessing this is because of F&W. Wondering how crowded it's going to feel in the resort and in the pool. Usually in September we have very low crowds. It's not unusual for us to be the only ones waiting for a bus, etc. Wondering if it will feel different from our other stays. ??

As others have said, the resorts are actually pretty full most times of the year. I have been in July and August and my trips have not really been impacted by the full occupancy of the resort.

The parks shouldn't be too crowded.

:thumbsup2

Last day of our trip, we will be checking out of YC early tomorrow for the drive back to NJ. We have really enjoyed our stay here, watching Illuminations, then walking back and watching Frozen fireworks from the beach over the Boardwalk Hotel was great, the kids loved SAB, and the service has been great (although mousekeeping has been inconsistant with coffee replenishment. We booked BB free dining for next summer, but alas it is for POFQ, I can't justify non discounted YC rates for us, LOL.

Thanks for letting us know how your trip was. Glad you enjoyed yourself.

:)

We will be at the beach club in two weeks. This will be our first time there. I want to thank all the people on this thread. I am so excited about this year.s trip due to all the positive comments. I have had questions answered even before I thought to ask them. Everyone here is so welcoming. Thanks again for all your help. Can't wait to be at the beach club and Epcot!

What an upper of a post!!! Thanks!

:goodvibes

Leaving the YC today. Actually waiting for DCL bus right now!! We loved the YC but I think our hearts are still at the Poly. I would definitely stay here again if it were for another 1 or 2 night stay. The walk to Epcot was awesome!!! Next year when we take the cruise in thinking of staying a night our two at BC. We'll see, in sure I'll change my mind by then, haha. Oh, and I love the smell of the lobby at BC!!!

Sent from my LG-G2

Thanks for your input about your trip.

:thumbsup2

Hi guys!

We got back late last night - of course today I'm doing the "vacation return - mound of laundry".

We had a wonderful trip!

*snip*

:welcome: home.

Glad you had a great trip and I'm so thrilled that we got to meet!!!

Can you request nightly turndown service if you are not staying club level?

Yes. Contact housekeeping.

:thumbsup2

Update. Checked MDE. The manager at Captains Grille has not cancelled our lunch. I have been to Concierge who have cancelled it for me. They were not impressed.

Yay. We finally met up with Teena

Love this picture!!!

Glad the secret entrance/exit tip helped. Probably one of the best pieces of info here!

Too funny about J. Peterman- maybe he was checking out some new items at Fittings & Fairings for his adventure clothing catalog.

:rotfl2:

For the first time, I'm going to F&W festival! I just booked a quick trip for 11/2-11/6 and was able to get into the YC for those dates. I think that'll make for easy access to the festival. The sad part is that I'm inbetween MNSSHP and MVMCP. Hopefully, I can still see the tale end of one's decorations and the begining of the other. I'm thinking of booking the premium package for the F&W festival and then seeing what the reviews are for it (if it's still available?).
