What made it a rough start? Glad it worked out in the end.

It just started out badly, when we arrived at the guard shack and gave over our ID the security guard said we weren't on the reservations list, which is confusing to me as I made all three of our room reservations (and the other two room reservations were listed, just not us the first room I actually booked). So the guard sent us on through and told us to go to the front desk and they will straighten it out. We weren't greeted at the front like we've always been before, no one seemed to know we were even expected at the resort so that was crazy to begin with. Once we got to speak to someone at the front desk they found our reservation thankfully and seemed to have no idea why the guard shack didn't have us listed. So fine, we were checked it so that's all that matters. We arrived early so I knew our rooms (again we had 3 booked for our whole party) wouldn't be ready but I also found out that our rooms were not connecting and no even near by each other. When I made our initial reservations I was told our rooms would be linked together to help us get connect or at least rooms near each other. That didn't work out for us, but since it was just a request I let it go.

We waited around until 3 and never received a text that any of our 3 rooms were ready, when I went back to the front desk I was told check in was at 4 o'clock so try back then. After waiting around until almost 5 I went back and asked again about the rooms, still nothing. Eventually we got a text about one of the rooms finally coming available so our whole party just piled into that room waiting on text messages for the other rooms. Those messages never came and I had to go back to the front desk to check on them once again after another hour or so and the front desk seemed like the rooms had been ready and when I questioned why I only received the text about one room I was told I must have been out of service range (funny as I was in the lobby and/or one of the hotel rooms the whole time).

So after we finally got the rest of our rooms, two of them were fine, but the third the room I was staying in, had an awful smell a combo between bleach and mold/mildew so back to the front desk we go, since I have serve asthma and being in that room was impossible for me. The front desk said they'd have the room re-cleaned and sent us away to a complimentary dinner (which was very nice of them). So we left and had dinner and then came back to the room and it still had the same smell and I felt like I could feel water under the carpet in the room (squishy like wet feeling) so we went back to the front desk and was told that the hotel was full and they could not change our room. We even asked if they had any rooms at YC and we'd change over to there, but they said no they were at capacity and there wasn't anywhere for us to go. That was a problem because I could not stand the smell of the room and would have been extremely sick if I stayed in that room. The other problem with the room, which we would have dealt with if it wasn't for the smell was that the room was a standard (roof top view with a tree in the far distance) and we paid for a garden view. I didn't consider the view since the main view was a roof top to be garden view so that wasn't great.

Since they had nothing they could do for us that night, I had to stay in my sisters room until the next day when they could try to find somewhere else for us to stay, but the rest of my family stayed in the smelly room. The next day they finally got us another room without any smell and with the view we paid for, but we didn't get it until late in the evening.

In the end, they did comp us a meal and they did get us a room that we could stay in and enjoy, but it was a really rough start to the trip. In the end they made it right and we did enjoy our stay after the first couple of hard days. I really think the first room we had should have never been given to anyone with the mold/mildew smell that wouldn't go away so I hope they took it out of rotation until they could deal with the problem.

All I can say is if you have a problem deal with it right that minute and get it taken care of, which is what we did, it didn't get worked out right away but it did after a day and a half and after we put that behind us we had a great time.

For the poster who asked if we liked the walks/boats, the walk to Epcot was easy and we enjoyed that, we used the boat for getting to HS and I thought that was nice, it didn't take to long but we weren't in a rush to get places so we enjoyed a leisurely pace to/from the parks.

We also took the boat to the BW and then walked back, and the walk back was quicker than the boat for that but like I said we were pretty leisurely so both were great for us!

I saw this great idea about making more space in our room and it was to create a room divider between the bathroom area and the bedroom area. I want to put a tension rod with a curtain so that someone can be getting changed in the sink area, while someone may be in the bathroom, while others may be watching tv. Does anyone know what the width is between the walls for this area? TIA

The same thing happened to us last year with the wrong room, then it smelling and being deep cleaned along with no texts but at least they refunded the full rack rate for the day even though we had a 40% off booking.

Still loved the resort though. So much so that we will trying out the yacht club this month.

I know these things happen, but it stinks when they happen to you! That room never should be in rotation. We don't get to travel much due to cost and three kids, but a couple of years ago we went to a wedding in Turks and Caicos, my first time even out of the country, first time w/o kids ever (the oldest was 10 at the time) and the same thing happened, the smell and mildew were making my eyes burn and couldn't breath. After a day and a half of moving us around, we landed in one of the best rooms the resort offered. I'm not a complainer or a hotel snob...I don't think I've ever even sent back a meal before, even when I should have, but this was impossible. We lucked out, but it also cost us a day and a half of our vacation. Hoping our second trip ever to disney and first in 7 years and at a deluxe that we won't have to deal with any problems! Fingers crossed!

Who-hoo! We'll be right behind you! Leave in 8 days to drive down!

Awesome! Are you driving straight through or stopping along the way?

We are stopping a couple of places along the way to extend the trip :) The drive back home will be straight through.

Sorry that happened to you, it does suck when it happens, but I agree I still really enjoyed the resort!

They did not offer us any compensation for the room issue except to credit us the difference between a standard view and garden view since the first room was not what we expected of a garden view, however we saw that they credited us the difference (about $120) then at the end of the trip they took that credit back away from us! That was fine though, since we did eventually get a room in the category we booked, it was just odd that it was offered then it was taken away. They did comp us a dinner though, so that was nice and above and beyond so we appreciated that. In the end we got the room we paid for it just took us some extra time.

I think the refurb at the BC will help take care of the room smell issues though, so hopefully it won't end up being something others will have to deal with as much.

I always judge:rotfl:

LOL.

We get there in just over ten days. I'm at the stage were I'm nervous. Just hoping I don't forget anything important and get all my work done before I leave the office a week from Friday.

I have my macadamia-nut-filled Hershey kisses all ready and waiting for the Dis Meet. I'm so excited to finally meet some of the folks on this board!

SYNCHRONIZED POOL TUBE TEAM UPDATE!!!

I know you all are dying to learn about the progress that this little project has been making so I will fill you in with a much needed update!

First of all uniforms: There has been much debate on the water hardiness of sequins on swimsuits but we are still going ahead with plans to sneak into The Great Movie Ride and liberate a couple of those sequined bathing suits off of those non twirling Buzzby Berkley mannequins. One size will have to fit all so make plans to start dieting... perhaps next week.

Music: The cheapest thing to do will be for all of us to hum "What a feeling" from that movie "Flash Dance". A kickstarter campaign had been started to raise money for Kazoos until some smarty pants pointed out that once they fill with water they are useless.... so humming, very loudly, even underwater, will have to suffice. Remember we have to hum louder than whatever Disney Radio crap tune they will be blasting at Stormalong Bay, so start practicing now. When the neighbors are calling the cops on you you will know that you have achieved proper volume.

Choreography: Simply stated, it's a mess since we have not had one team practice. To conquer this problem it has been suggested that we perform as the first "Modern Dance Synchronized Pool Tube Team". Under this incarnation we can hoodwink the judges into believing that we are very "Artsy" instead of completely uncoordinated. Yes... I think that will work!

Thanks to copious quantities of rain in my area I have discovered that the water retention ponds make great urban swimming pools. There is a downside to this location as Ninja Mom has been laid low by a stubborn case of malaria, so she has not been able to update you on her progress lately. Remember we are less than two short weeks away from our first meet so get inoculated against malaria and keep practicing!!! We have to do an especially good job if we are to convince the judges that this sport NEEDS to be included in the next OLYMPICS!

I would blame the coach for any issues. She has been woefully neglectful, She blames "real life" whatever that is:confused3

A couple days ago I had posted with a question about our dinner reservation and the fact that they changed the park hours for that day. Dee had suggested I call and ask them about it. Just thought I would post my experience in case anyone ever has a similar issue. I called and spoke to a gentleman who was very nice but I don't think really knew what he was talking about. He said even though they were closing early the restaurants set their own hours so they probably had later hours than the park and that my reservation was still good, no need to change it. I didn't think that sounded right but hung up and figured I would call back again. A couple days later I got a call directly from the manger of the restaurant letting me know the hours had changed and that she could rebook my reservation for earlier that day or any other day that week. She was so helpful and when she heard me kinda talking to myself about how Wednesday would work but we had a late lunch at yak and yeti she asked if it would help if she moved that one earlier. Perfect example of why I love Disney always doing whatever they can to make the customer happy!

Got a little behind the past few days

Does anyone have pictures of the Presidential Suite now that it has been set up as the CL lounge? :goodvibes

BUMPING this one up!!!

I am curious too.

:thumbsup2

Can you please add me to the 'be our guest' list :goodvibes

It seems such a long way away but I've just booked to return to the Beach Club (LV CL) 30 November-10 December 2015, can't wait to return as I loved it there in 2012.

:welcome: back!!!

Glad to add you to the list.

:cool1:

I think your best bet is to get to CRT NLT 9:45 and explain - see if they can slide you in sooner.

Did you get a second SDMT FP+ on another day atleast?

john

Hi John-

Not sure if I have seen you posting before, so just in case,

:welcome:

If you have an upcoming trip to the BC/YC/BCV resort and would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list, please let us know.

:goodvibes

How long will the Presidential Suite be used as the concierge lounge? We check in at BC Club Level on 8/14. Thanks!

Until the lounge rehab is complete. If the work was indeed started on Monday (I haven't seen official confirmation from any guests since then) then the Presidential Suite will certainly still be the site of the lounge during your trip.

I have you on the BOG list, but I will add your exact dates.

:cheer2:

We've arrived home from our Beach Club trip yesterday evening so we are just settling back in. We had a rough start to our trip that was far from magical, but after the first two days things got much better and we ended up having a wonderful trip in the end. I loved the resort, it was beautiful and we all enjoyed the pool area, walks to Epcot, boat to Hollywood Studios and proximity to the Boardwalk. This was our first time staying in the Epcot area, we normally stay in the Magic Kingdom area, but I'd absolutely stay in either area again!

Thanks for letting us know about your trip and for providing the details. So sorry for all that you had to deal with. I agree with the others who commented that you were given a room that should not have been in service.

I'm happy to read that things improved and that you ended up having a decent stay.

:)

The Plan has been laminated :cool1:

Beautiful!!!

Anyone who is there know the current bounceback? I'm curious...we don't go until December, but this year I would love to take advantage of a BB since we never do and we always go every year! :confused3

Can someone provide the current info?

I'll look to see what I have on Page 1 (either in the FAQ post or Other Useful Info)

:thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing this suggestion. I don't know the width in the room, though.

Well, if no one has pics of the Presidential Suite "Lounge" yet....no worries....I will get them soon!

9 days...do you hear me??? 9 DAYS!!!! :banana::woohoo::cool1::cheer2::dance3::yay:

I'm not excited or anything....:surfweb:

Yesterday I learned that our flight hours had been changed. We would have ended up arriving to the resort only around 10-11:00 P.M. to the Yacht Club.

Even with the 30% off it made no sense to pay that much for so little time.

The original plan was to switch to POR the next day...So, I switched reservations... We'll have POR for our 1st night and Yacht Club for the 2nd night (it gives us something like 10 more hours to spend at the Yach Club than originally planned - YAY!)

We are now staying at the Yacht Club on November 22 (instead of the 21).

Don't get me started on how frustrating it is when the airlines change your flight times!

Glad you could make an acceptable change to your reservation. I'll update the Be Our Guest list with your new info.

Wow! You are really getting close to your arrival date. :cool1:

Has a year gone by already?

I am super excited to find out that the special Frozen summer fun at DHS has been extended into September. :woohoo: We'll be at the YC then and I've heard that you can see the Frozen fireworks from the Epcot resort area. Could someone please let me know if you can see the fireworks and where the best viewing spot would be. Ideally we would watch Illuminations and then turn around and watch the Frozen fireworks. You gotta love the Epcot resorts. :goodvibes
