There and back again... A disney addicts tale- Updated 9/18

We were talking about booking POR because of Ol' Man. Is it really great? Or is it always packed? That picture makes me think the packed part. We had issues with our hotel check in too. But you will just have to wait to read about those. :goodvibes

-Becca-

It was always busy even at 10 pm. We only played there a few times, we stuck close to the quiet pool right outside our room, it was empty for the most part and much more manageable. Though old man island was a ton of fun!

All Kid have meltdowns, no worries:goodvibes

Glad lunch and resting perked him up...

Can't wait for park time:cool1:

:welcome: Tinkerbella and MinnieMO Glad you found my report!

Trentmom- Meltdowns are pretty common with Tigger so its not like I am not used to it. They always happen at the most inconvienent times though.

Totally hear ya:hug:

So, what is next? :cool1:

Jumping in! I want to know how this trip went, after all the hours you spent planning! :goodvibes

Did Lilo use a chair in the end, or did she not need it? Sorry for jumping the gun, I'm just an impatient person ;)

:wave2: Hi There, Boy it is hard to get on here now that the trip is over!

Tigger did pretty good then to make it all the way to check in! Kudos to Dad and you for handling it so well. That stinks about check in. But bldg 16 is still pretty good! First floor I hope! Those steps and 2 strollers became the bane of my trip.

How did you find the food court food? My kiddos loved the pizza but we found most everything else to be so-so. Last trip we loved the noodle station. We didn't have that this trip. Did get primerib one night and it was tough. We loved POFQ food court this time tho and their pool.

The ol man island was always crowded when we walked by as well. We only swam there once and we were only able to get one lounge chair the whole time. Didn't matter much as we all spent the entire time in the pool or on the slide. MY DS5 was fasinated with that old sink in the middle of the island and found an acorn in it that he still has! Line for slide was pretty long but apparently worth it as the kids kept saying "let's go again" including the DD2!

We also used the quiet pool. We had dive toys and noodles and that was so relaxing with no more than 2-4 families at a time.

Keep it coming! Sounds like you planned great. Nice relaxing first day!

Trentmom- Next installment coming up!

Muppetkaties- Welcome!

xominnieox2-Welcome!

Spark, glad to have you here! You helped so much during the planning stages, I am thrilled to share our experiences with you. As for Lilo, no matter how hard you tried, we never could get her to use a chair. She just wouldnt let anything keep her down.

After the kids ate and we got Tigger back to sleep, Dh and I headed to Raglan Road for Dinner. Due to the rain, the boats were closed so we had to take a bus. The bus service was good, though there was only standing room to DTD, probably due to the boat closing. Once we arrived, we browsed the shops in DTD and shopped leisurely. It was a dream. We talked and enjoyed a quiet evening together. Dinner was nice, would have been better had our waitress actually cared that we were there. It took her over 40 minutes to take our drink order and another 20 just to bring us drinks and then we waited well over an hour for our meal to arrive. We never saw her after our meal was brought out except when she brought us our check. DH actually picked up our drink glasses and took them to the nearest waiter and asked for refills. I guess she didn’t feel we were worth our time. Putting aside the horrid service, Raglan Road was a nice place. We liked the atmosphere, enjoyed the food. After dinner, we headed to the margarita bar for a drink. Around Midnight, we headed back to the room. We were so tired, after two nights of very little sleep, we fell asleep the moment our heads hit the pillow.

oh that stinks about your waitress.... i hope you did not tip her..... even if it was included in teh price already i would defintely talk to manager about her. But i'm glad your vacation went well.

and that my friends is a true vacation attitude! :cloud9:

Bravo for not letting the dismal service get you down! A dinner and night to walk/be with a hubby is so rare and a treasure for sure! What did you eat? (notice a theme here?:rotfl: I love me some good food!)

Minus the horrible waitress, sound like a great evening, just you and hubby time:lovestruc

What did ya have to eat?

I hope y ou tipped very poorly

That is my big pet peeve:headache:

She should have came back to check on you at least once:sad2:

Before she handed you the check, she should have asked do you want dessert or anything else:thumbsup2

Kileybeth- We were on 1st floor but the building wasnt the greatest. Its one plus was there was a quiet pool right outside and Tink spent alot of time in the evenings swimming (she has a meet coming up and didnt want to lose practice time) As for the food, I will make sure and post reviews on everything we ate.

Trentmom- We did leave a poor tip, I always tip well but I really was upset by her. As for what I ate, I will clear that up for you. Sorry, I forgot to add those minor details.

Mari- We left a small tip but not even 10%. I cant not tip but I didnt tip well at all. I didnt ask for a manager as we had been up since 3am and I was tired and I would rather spend the evening with my husband than focus on the negative and argue with a manager.

We were on the dining plan. Our first day, we split 1 fish and chips, and 2 double cheeseburger meals for lunch at POR Riverside Mill. I grabbed bags of carrots with the burgers and 1 chocolate brownie and 2 bananas for dessert. I did have a little trouble as they didnt want to give me the carrots instead of fries but in the end they allowed the substitution. Tigger and Lilo split a burger and they both seemed to like it. Lilo ate both bags of carrots and Tigger ate a banana. Tink and I split the fish. I had one piece and didnt think it was that great but Tink liked it. She ate all the fries, I didnt care for those either. The whole family split the brownie. It was obviously meant to be shared.

For dinner, again at POR Riverside Mill, the kids split 1 pepperoni pizza, 1 salad, and 1 slice of cake. They also got breadsticks but didnt like them at all so these were trashed.

For our dinner at Raglan Road, DH got the shepards pie and I got the steak. Both meals were good. We actually shared. We did not get dessert as we were not willing to wait another hour on our waitress for it. We had been up since 3am and were tired. If it hadnt been for me, dh would have skipped the magarita bar too but I have heard awesome things about it and really wanted to try it.
