"There’s NO Sleeping in Disney!” SURPRISE - The Frumps Are Back Again! UPDATE 1/13

That is a lot of characters! I will def keep that in my mind for our next trip.:thumbsup2
We met Jafar during MNSSHP and, that will be an update you won't want to miss! Lets just say there was a lot of attitude coming from a small girl!

Wow you guys sure met a lot of characters! :cool1: If I'm ever at DHS around 5 on a future trip I am definitely heading to the animation building.

I love that Tink rug and lol at telling Jasmine you wanted to be her someday!

Ahh I love that pic with lil' Timon and Pumbaa. <3 So cute.

Those were SUCH good movies. We need to watch them when they come out on DVD/ when one of us gets them. :goodvibes

So true. You were the mother of the three of us LOL.

Definitely a cool and rare character...but he was SO creepy.

Hehe he was NOT happy with me. :P I love making the Villains mad. :lmao:

I loved Minnie and Pluto! They were adorable!

That Jasmine was so precious! I loved her. Notice how me and Nat are laughing at you but you were being like totally serious. :rotfl:

I wish we would have too! That was the best character spot EVER!

I got an Aladdin one!! And I really want the white Minnie one too. And of course, Muppet clothes!!!! SO exciting. :thumbsup2

I do too! It's my facebook profile picture. LION KING = :lovestruc
Yeah they were really cute!! I hope a good disney movie comes out this summer so we can go to the drive in again to see them! Hopefully it'll be less stifling out though :faint:
Haha somebody had to do it
I agree. Just his whole persona had a creepy vibe. I liked meeting him though. I think he usually only comes out during MNSSHP!
LOL definitely not. Way to be an instigator. :rotfl:
I loved them too! That was a really adorable combination and it made for a great picture! I am glad they were out instead of goofy and max actually.. although I love them too.
HAHAHA I know. You guys are all like "LOL" and I'm like "no... I'm serious." :lmao:
You should get the minnie one too!! That one is adorable. I love that they have Disney clothes there. Like... way to bring back the good stuff. :thumbsup2

I know, right?! Such a good spot.
HAHAHA I can not WAIT to hear about it! I wanted to give Jafar some attitude but I was too scared! Way to go Kandace :lmao:

Yes we did! It was awesome! Definitely try to remember that!
I love it too! And :rotfl: I would.

Ahh! I got so far behind! Instead of clogging up your trip report with old stuff, I'll be sending a PM with a couple questions soon (if I write it here, I will remember to send it!)

All the non-face villain characters are so creepy! I wish they wouldn't care so much about that accuracy (I mean, the actual face characters don't look exactly like the movies! And I'm pretty sure Meeko wasn't originally quite that tall.) and just let them be real people. But they're not creepy-scary, they're creepy-omg-why-does-Smee-have-a-seam-on-his-arm?!

You always seem to have really great character interactions! Any really good/bad ones (from any trip!) that stand out?

Ahh! I was so far behind! I'm all caught up now though! :)

That's okay! :goodvibes I'm glad you caught up! I hope you're enjoying!

Okay I'll look for it :)
Hahaha yeah I think they just want them to look as much like the movies as possible. It works anyway
Haha there was a GREAT character interaction that is coming up in two updates :) But you'll have to wait and see who it's with!

Chapter 12: Art, Pizza, and Movies. What More Could You Ask For?
August 20th, 2011

We met all of the characters we possibly could in the Animation Building, but eventually they had to go inside. So we said goodbye and headed out through the gift shop.

We spent a bit of time in there just looking around.

Everything is BEAUTIFUL! I seriously love each piece of artwork so much. I don't know if you're supposed to take pictures of it or not... but I did. LOL

The artist of these paintings is unbelievable! I believe his name is Thomas Kinkade. Kristen got a calendar with his artwork in it, and it's just stunning. I really love his take on classic Disney films.

This Peter Pan painting is one of my favorites. I just have an emotional attachment to the scene when they fly over London. It takes me back to my childhood.

dsc0289ck.jpg

This one is really cool... it's like a cartoon in front of a photograph kinda thing.

dsc0291u.jpg

And I LOVE this because they're at 50's Prime Time Cafe. So cute!

dsc0292s.jpg

We walked outside and I took some pictures of these beautiful signs:

And the hat too, of course!

We made our way down Commissary Lane and headed towards PIZZA PLANET! We had to take Nat there! Anything Toy Story was a definite must on this trip!

I ordered a Pepperoni Pizza:

A Caesar Salad:

And a Mickey Rice Krispie:

dsc0297j.jpg

YUM!

dsc0301x.jpg

Nat got a Cheese Pizza, Caesar Salad, and a Cookie! (she loves cookies.)

dsc0300nz.jpg

I LOVE Disney Pizza and it was so good to be reunited with it. It was slightly overdone, but it was still delicious. I will never get sick of that pizza. The caesar salad was also good, and of course, the Rice Krispie was sweet and yummy! I love those too!

We left, went to the bathroom, then decided to take a journey into the movies! The Great Movie Ride was our next stop!

We had to take Kristen's picture with the horse from Mary Poppins - which is one of her top favorite movies!

dsc0303i.jpg

I literally wrote in my trip journal... "Gangster. Surprise." LOL WHY can I not get a cowboy!? Seriously I hope for one every time and it just never happens! Oh well.

"TAR-ZUN!"

dsc0306w.jpg

Hidden Mickey in the flowers!

dsc0308aw.jpg

The scary munchkins.

dsc0309ut.jpg

ELPHABA! Hahaha I will probably never call her "the wicked witch of the west" again. Wicked is a life changing musical. If you haven't seen it, you should.

Wow, what a nice surprise this morning - 2 updates to read with my coffee:surfweb:

Your pictures from the Animation building were wonderful. I loved the pic with Jasmine - so cute!!! I didn't know about the meet & greet so thanks for the info. I'm going to put that on my list of things to do for the next trip.

There is some beautiful artwork that you took pictures of. I would love to own some of them. You commented on the Thomas Kinkaid picture. His Disney paintings are SO incredible!! You have to check out his website. It shows all the different ones you can get along with descriptions of what is in the pictures. He incorporates characters from other films in the pictures. For example I believe Bambi is hidden in the Beauty and the Beast one. I plan on getting a print of B&B for Christmas - just have to let hubby know:laughing:

Oh, and I watched your you tube video. You girls are very talented and your teacher was hysterical:rotfl:

I love your pictures. There were som nice art work in that gift shop :lovestruc

I love the musical Wicked as well. I have seen it many times. I can never see Elphaba as the wicked witch after seeing the musical and reading the book.

Oh pizza sounds so good right now for breakfast! Well any Disney food for that matter:lmao:

The great movie ride is one of our favorites, and I totally agree with you about Wicked! It completely changes your whole view on The Wizard of OZ!
Kadence's dance class did a routine to the song "Popular" from Wicked, and it was hilarious!

I want every single piece of art work in that store. They are all SO gorgeous, but that Peter Pan is my favorite!

Woo hoo for Pizza Planet! Such a cute place to eat!

I love the animation building! My sister and I just used to go there to draw but it had been a few years so when we went this past summer we were so excited to see all these characters! And the lines weren't even too crazy! It was definitely a great experience.

I always get the gangster too! I feel like I’m missing out on something! but i sat in the front row with the gangster once and he tried to steal my dad's watch! It was hilarious!

And i agree...wicked is life changing! Seriously sooo good!

Can't wait to read more! :goodvibes

I seriously need to remember about Characterpalooza next time. Do you think that happens every day? My DD would absolutely love it! Well, maybe not the villains, but that would be awesome to be able to see so many of them.

Love all of your photos from the day. Those paintings are amazing. I would totally love to have one of Thomas Kinkade paintings in my house!

Um, totally going to have to check out Forever 21 in my mall. Lucky that I can wear stuff like that for work and get away with it!:thumbsup2 That's how I justified all my HP/Gryffyndor gear and all my Disney tees. I just tell myself that I can wear it to work.

i love reading your trip reports, they are just so much fun!

i had to post because of the ganster scene.

i went in september for 3 days (talk about way to short of a trip)
and as we went on it my husband decided to tell me i was lying about there being a cowboy scene because hes been on the ride like 5 times in 3 yrs and never scene it.

i admitted id been on it way more times than that since opening and havent scene it but i knew it existed!

so anyways, we go through the ride, and we get to the mob scene, and i notice the light is still green and we arent stopping to hang around...

lo and behold...we got the cowboy scene!
i liked it, because i mean ive never sceen it...
...but ill be honest, im more a fan of the ganster scene (even though im pretty sure i can recite the spiel in my head)

and i totally agree about Wicked the musical....

All those painting were soooo pretty! I like how both classic and modern they are. It also helps that they are paintings of a whole bunch of variety of disney things. :)

Pizza Planet!!!!! Oh how I love that place! I can't possibly go to Disney and not visit at least the pizza planet arcade! I do enjoy the pizza but i really do go for the arcade. I love reminicising about the movie while in there! I do enjoy disney pizza in general though. I'm guessing Nat LOVED pizza planet!

Yay for great movie ride! I really enjoy the ride and trying to point out which movie is which. Last time i went on it we ended up on the front row which is super exciting because we pretty much NEVER end up in front.

This is going to sound really stupid but i never knew that they had different rooms to stop in depending on the vehicle. I did notice that sometimes the room was a cowboy theme and other times it was a gangster theme but i never put 2 and 2 together.

LOVE THE WICKED REFERENCE!!!! I absolutely loved that show! I agree about her forever more being "Elfaba" to me (actually go one step further and call her elfie in my mind)! I can not watch wizard of oz the same way anymore. I think about what was happening in wicked each point in that time! I went to go see it three different times and each time i cried during defying gravity! It really is AMAZING!!!!

Yikes!! I did not know about Characterpalooza!! It is a must for us this trip!!! My kids will love it!!

I know how much you love Jasmine and I wanted to share with you... My daughter's school has a fall festival every year (its like we used to have as a halloween carnival) but the theme is Disney this year. :yay: My daughter got queen of her class and she and her king are going to be Aladdin and Jasmine!! Its going to be great!!

Oh and I just noticed my ticker says 1 month until our trip!

Chapter 12 - Art, Pizza, and Movies. What More Could You Ask For?
August 20th, 2011

We left, went to the bathroom, then decided to take a journey into the movies! The Great Movie Ride was our next stop!

I love how you told us all you "went to the bathroom" This is a very detailed TR. ;)

I was right! :cool1: Characterpalooza is a wonderful Disney sorta-hidden secret! Very cute of Pluto to roll around like the dog that he is. And you met Jafar! That's rare!

I'd love to buy one of those Forever 21 shirt, but with my soon-to-expand belly I'm nto sure how well they're going to fit me. :rotfl:

I'm in the same boat! :lovestruc

I also didn't know about Characterpalooza- must remember that!

What did Kristen have to eat at Pizza Planet?!

LOVE the Great Movie Ride- did the Wicked Witch used to be a real person- I vaguely remember that from my past...

AHH! I have to get to Forever 21 now!! Good to know!

I've never actually seen Jasmine at Palooza! That's awesome. You've got some great pics of all the artwork & Winnie the Pooh signs, they're my favorite!!

ELPHABA!! Ahh!! I will forever call her that as well! I saw Wicked over the summer and it was just INCREDIBLE! More exciting is that in January, Beauty & the Beast is coming through next! I'm hoping for Little Mermaid after that!
