"There’s NO Sleeping in Disney!” SURPRISE - The Frumps Are Back Again! UPDATE 1/13

Here is the link
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2233038 At the beginning is stuff from last year but the end has a lot of people talking about this year! I am really excited as I am at 42 Days!!!:yay::dance3:

Thank you! I will definitely be reading some of that when I have free time this weekend :) So excited. And AHHH that's so soon! :yay: Yay I can't wait to just be there.

Another great update! We've found ourselves in that same position - WS, August afternoon. Ugh! If you ever find yourself in that predicament again, but can't leave the park for some reason, Mexico is nice and cool. :thumbsup2

Thank you! Ugh, isn't it crazy? I don't know how I survived. That's a really good tip to keep in mind, though! Yay for Mexico.

Ok first of all that cake? I want that like yesterday. Wow it looks good!
I totally understand how hot it must have been that day! The first day I EVER went to a Disney park, we went to Animal Kingdom, and that day happened to be the first day of summer. We made it from the bus to the Safari, and I was soaked. I was like um... this is not going well. And I'm USED to the humidity and heat! Haha... but it was probably even hotter in August! Can't even imagine... I bet the pool felt AMAAAAZING after that!
P.S. I loved that video installment! My favorite part was, "Please excuse us while we SMELL the Land." :rotfl:

Mmmm that cake is the BEST.
Oh my gosh... Animal Kingdom is the WORST. That and World Showcase get dangerously hot. Yeah, the pool was great. Even though the water gets really warm in the summer, it was still refreshing.
And HAHAHA oh thank you. It just smells so good in there. :rotfl:

OH MY GOSH! I can totally relate on how hot it is there... I remember standing in line in June to meet Snow White with Jake & Mallory and we were sweating buckets! World Showcase just FEELS hotter doesn't it?

Mmmm, those desserts look devine! I could go for that chocolate cake right now. Or even some school bread!

So funny that you got a picture of the guy at Soarin' doing the deer face! :rotfl:

Ahh I know right?! It's ridiculous!
I could too :cloud9: I'm starving.
Hahaha I was SO happy that I got the picture. You gotta time that perfectly. :p

NO I CAN'T. HAHA.

I actually really want those UK ears LOL.

AWESOME pic of the fountain! :thumbsup2

That is so true! I think I tried Nat's or yours though. It was good!

She just skipped right to dessert. Frump.

Ahhh that is so good. I really wish I had some now.

Ugh I can feel myself sweating now. Ew. I hate to sweat. HATE IT. But boy did I that day. It was terrible.

Nice flowers!

Those girls were like us in a couple years I'm tellin' ya. :goodvibes

SCHOOL BREAD = improvement.

So. Hot. Pins. Must. Fan. Help. Can't. Breathe.

...Okay I'm done. :lmao:

School bread had fun on Soarin'. :) DEER FACE PATRICK!!!

Time for swimming. PRAISE THE LORD.

Those silver Minnie ears look cute with your dress! :goodvibes

The chocolate cake at Sunshine Seasons is SO good! As well as the Strawberry Shortcake! I tried both on my last trip after seeing pictures on the DIS, it was like Heaven. :cloud9: My mom got the Key Lime Pie both times...I tried a bite and it was really good too!

Ahaha, I love the picture of Kristen with her school bread in Soarin. :lmao:

Oh gosh, that heat must have been brutal
Hahahah SCHOOL BREAD :) I want to try it! Is it really a Norwegian food?

OH and I found the perfect GIF to describe Kristen

Haha I know I want those silver ones :p I think we all secretly wanted the ears we took pictures with.
Thank you!! That's my favorite fountain. :goodvibes
Yeah I don't think I stopped sweating that entire trip. It was gross. :rotfl:
LOL but seriously. We're most definitely going to be cast members. I can't wait! :)
School bread makes everything better.
Ughhh thank God for those pins!!
YAY TIME TO SWIM!

Why thank you! I wish I would have bought them! :p
Mmmm they're both great! I bet the Key Lime Pie was great too! I wish I could try one of everything there.
:lmao: So typical.

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl: Maggie I'm dying. :rotfl2: That's the funniest gif I've EVER seen. And seriously... it's like Kristen. :rotfl:
Yeah it was brutal!
And yes school bread is actually a norwegian food! It didn't really click in my mind that it was until that Cast Member told us that... but it makes sense. Pretty much every food served in world showcase is indigenous to it's country.

Chapter 17: Cooling off at Coronado!
August 21st, 2011

We arrived back at our resort and we were greeted by this wonderful creature.

dsc0499di.jpg

He was just sort of chillin' on the sidewalk there so I took his picture. Even though bugs creep me out. Ah well. IT'S HOPPER!

Anyways... I snapped some pictures of our walk back to our building. I get in photographer mode in Disney.

dsc0501e.jpg

dsc0502f.jpg

dsc0503j.jpg

We got to Casitas 5 and headed for our air conditioned room!

dsc0504ig.jpg

Nat and I quickly changed into our bathing suits, and then we went up a few floors to Kristen and Sarah's room. Here is a picture of their view:

dsc0511lv.jpg

Very beautiful.

We were all changed and we headed down to the pool! We went to the Casitas Quiet Pool. It is conveniently located right in Casitas 4.

dsc0512n.jpg

We got there and we all just jumped right in.

dsc0513i.jpg

Ahhhhhhhh so refreshing!

I mean, the water isn't very cold for very long, but that initial jump in is always the best.

I have always wanted to bring like... a huge tub of ice into the pool so the water would actually be cold in the summer. :rotfl: You would think that Disney would have installed some sort of... water cooling system by now.

Here's Sarah jumping in the pool:

dsc0514yt.jpg

And here's me!

dsc0517q.jpg

Here's Kristen chillin' by the pool side after being completely refreshed.

dsc0519fy.jpg

And here's me and Nat swimming! (I think we legitimately look related in this picture hahaha)

dsc0521eh.jpg

We were really taking in the beauty of Coronado Springs. It was SO relaxing. I always wish I could get more pool time into my vacations. I really do love every minute we spend swimming, though. It's so fun!

The Palm Trees are fantastic there. Ahh times like these I really miss those palm trees...

dsc0522a.jpg

dsc0523ll.jpg

dsc0524a.jpg

The sun came out SUPER bright in these pictures. Obviously it just further proves my point about how hot it was outside that day!

dsc0530i.jpg

We sadly didn't make it to the main pool at Coronado Springs, but we the Casitas 4 pool was just lovely! We were completely satisfied!

dsc0525d.jpg

dsc0527c.jpg

At 3:50 pm Kristen and Sarah had to leave the pool and go get ready for their dinner reservation. Nat and my dinner wasn't until a little later, so we hung out at the pool a bit longer. We eventually headed back to the room.

We took showers, got ready, and then headed to the bus stop so we could head to dinner!

Chapter 18: THE BREAD!
August 21st, 2011

(I updated twice today so don't miss the update directly above this!)

The Magic Kingdom bus pulled up very quickly! We arrived at the park in no time!

dsc00194ye.jpg

And as you can probably tell by my shirt... IT'S MONORAIL TIME, BABY!

dsc0533m.jpg

Por Favor Mantengase Alejado de las Puertas!

That saying just never gets old.

Okay... brief aside here. Every time I think of the monorail voice I now think of this excerpt from a trip report I just read. (It's called The MCLOVINS Hit the World - HARD!!!!! If you're looking for some fantastic reading material, I would definitely suggest reading this.)

The author of this TR talks about how much she loves the voice of the monorail. I just started cracking up the first time I read this excerpt!! I needed to throw it in here for those of you who haven't read her trip report:

_disneygirl said:
Let me tell you a secret: if a man wants to seduce me… he needs to say only this:

“For the comfort of others, no smoking please.”

AND I WILL BE SMITTEN INSTANTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or “We are now circling the Disney created Seven Seas Lagoon.”

Even if there is NO LAGOON present… I will fall into his arms instantly.

I will ESPECIALLY want to marry him if the man says, of course:

“Por favor mantengase alejado de las puertas.”

Of course… no one ever does. Oh my aching heart!

:rotfl2: Pure brilliance, right?! Only some people are crazy enough to understand that. And let me tell you... Kristen, Nat, and I are some of those people.

dsc0534q.jpg

Anyways....

HELLO BEAUTIFUL CONTEMPORARY!!! I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE YOU IN 44 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!

dsc0531u.jpg

Ahem. I'll try to calm down now.

........

Yeah right. I was in Disney. There is no such thing as "calming down." Be prepared for extreme frumpiness from me for the rest of the night.

OKAY SO we got in line for this lovely form of Disney Transportation! We were very excited to go to our next destination!

I saw monorail peach running! (The newest addition to the monorail cars) This was during its testing period so I got pretty excited when it passed by. I haven't heard much about it lately though - hopefully it's up and running!

dsc0535j.jpg

We got "onboard the motor coach" and we were off!

dsc00197sn.jpg

I took a picture of my other favorite form of Disney Transportation:

dsc0537q.jpg

And of course the beautiful castle:

dsc0539n.jpg

And..... BAY LAKE TOWER!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!

dsc0540s.jpg

Can I PLEASE go home now?!

There are a lot of stops in between the Magic Kingdom and the Polynesian... so between that and "holding for [a lot of] further traffic clearance," it took a while to get there.

dsc00195vn.jpg

However, we were soon entering the BEAUTIFUL Polynesian Resort. Alooooo-ha! ♥

We went straight to Kona and checked in. They gave us a buzzer so we wandered away. Then within a minute we were called back so we could be seated!

dsc0557c.jpg

We sat on the left side, which was a first for me. Our waitress's name was Sandy. She was very pleasant!

We thoroughly examined the menus and decided what to get.

We placed our order and we waited for our feast.

Then......

the best moment of my life happened.

I GOT...

TO EAT...

THE BREAD!

dsc0541ss.jpg

OH MY LORD IN HEAVEN this is THE BEST BREAD I have ever eaten in my entire life!!

I solely added more days to my December trip FOR THIS REASON! I could not fit in a dinner at Kona but I needed to so I could eat THE BREAD! I'm going there on my first night. I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!

Don't you just love how I book all of my trips based on food? I do.

I could probably just go to Kona and get THE BREAD for my entire meal. I would be completely and 100% happy with that.

THIS BREAD is the best thing you're ever going to eat in your life. It is sweet and soft and the perfect bread texture. (If you've had it before, you know what I mean.)

If you could describe Disney Magic through food... THE BREAD from Kona perfectly conveys the message.

I don't know if any of you have ever had a Roadhouse Grill Restaurant near you (a few years ago the ones near us closed down </3 ) but THE KONA BREAD tastes like the rolls they served there. Only BETTER! And those were the best rolls in the history of bread making.

Anyways... back to Kona....

Oh and the butter.... OH THE BUTTER!!!!

it was unbelievable. Macadamia Nuts make everything better. The flavoring was just the perfect combination to produce pure goodness.

I saw this little girl (she looked like she was 3 or 4) and she just had a whole loaf of THE KONA BREAD in her hands and she was eating it.

That is my future child.

And this is my face after my first bite. (Yes, we have this moment documented.) I was in heaven.

dsc00202lc.jpg

And here is Nat's first bite. Clearly THIS BREAD is "deer face" worthy.

dsc00203h.jpg

So very happy. (:

dsc0542e.jpg

Okay so I am assuming you've heard enough about THE BREAD. So let's move on.

Nat ordered the Mega-Berry Smoothie, which she loved! It was very refreshing and sweet.

dsc0544y.jpg

Since I ordered off of the "you pick three" menu, we started off with Pot Stickers.

dsc0546ke.jpg

YUM! This was a nice way to begin the meal. (Besides having THE BREAD first.) They were hot, fresh, and cooked perfectly! I enjoyed the dipping sauce that came with them!

Then our entrees arrived! I got the Coconut Almond Chicken.

dsc0548ym.jpg

Okay... this was good... but I don't think I would order it again. I really could only eat about half of the chicken. And when I don't finish all of my food in Disney, you know I'm not absolutely lovin' it. I think that the breading on the chicken was just a little too overpowering or something. All of the food at the Polynesian has that sweet kick to it, and I just really wasn't loving this one. And I barely made a dent in the salad because I'm just not a huge salad person. This one was a little fancy for me.

I'm not saying the meal was bad at all... I'm just saying that it wasn't for me. If you like this kind of stuff, you would probably love this because it's good quality. Just not my taste.

Nat ordered the Pan Asian Noodles with Shrimp and Chicken.

dsc0547n.jpg

Nat didn't have any complaints so I think she liked her meal! I don't think she was able to finish all of it... but that's probably because it's big portion. I had a few shrimp and they were good! The sauce is sort of different, but it was still good. I don't know if I'd like that meal very much either. But it's okay. A few bites was good enough for me!

In the back of the restaurant there is a huge display with all of the desserts. So if you're a slacker and you don't stalk the food pictures thread, Kona gives you the opportunity to see all of the desserts before you order them! How generous.

dsc0549yh.jpg

And Lilo and Stitch are there to wave hello! (And the frumpy lady who made her way in the picture hahaha. It looks like I photoshopped her in. But I swear I didn't!)

dsc0545me.jpg

I also took a picture of the Hidden Mickey that is in the rug! So cute!

dsc0550x.jpg

Okay... dessert time.

I ordered the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake!

dsc0552u.jpg

WOW. That was absolutely DIVINE! I really really loved it. Yum! I loved the size of it. It wasn't too small and it wasn't too big. I took some ice cream from Nat's dessert so I could eat it with the cake, and that was just perfection!

However, I'm sad to report that my "Magic Guide" App on my iPhone doesn't have this on the menu anymore. That is really depressing. It was so good - Why would they do this to me?!?!

Anyways.. Nat ordered the Kona Kone!

dsc0551uk.jpg

We were busting at the seams at this point... but she ate it anyway! And she loved it! You can't go wrong with the Kona Kone!

So as you can probably tell.... we LOVED Kona. We Loved loved LOVED it! (Especially THE BREAD.) I am so incredibly happy we went there! If you haven't done so already, BOOK A RESERVATION NOW!

Overview of Kona Dining Experience
Food: REALLY good. We liked everything, especially THE BREAD. Fabulous 5/5
Waitress: Sandy
Service: Ordinary experience, pretty efficient. She was on the quieter side. 4/5
Overall Experience: We both really enjoyed it and I'm so glad we went! It was my first time for dinner and I loved it!

I actually prefer the pool to be warm, no matter how hot it is outside. Otherwise it takes me one hour (literally) to get in the water. Heck, I'll even go in the hot tub in Flordai summer weather. I'm just that weird (and cold). :rotfl:

KONA BREAD!! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: I LOVE Kona Bread and could seriously just eat that as my whole meal and be completely happy. With the macadamia nut butter of course. Mmmmmmmmm! Even in my queasy-not wanting to eat any food-state I still crave Kona Bread. That's how good it is. :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

You could write a 5 page essay on Kona Bread and I would happily read it. Funny aside, when we were in high school my friend and I decided to try to write the longest possible essay on the toothbrush, just to see who could babble on the longest about an insignificant subject. I stopped after 3 pages, but my friend made it to 10 pages! :scared1: Bored teenagers can lead to some very weird things... :rolleyes1

Please excuse me while I wipe the drool off my computer. I love love LOVE Kona!! I'm so glad you like the bread too!! I actually have a recipe from one of my WDW cookbooks for the bread and the macadamia nut butter!

I do love that Kona bread, and it's a good thing it is so amazing, because the last time we went to Kona, for some reason it took them 45 minutes to get our entrees (and there were only two of us and the people around us had no trouble getting their food). It kind of turned me off Kona a bit. I do want to go back for breakfast though to try Tonga Toast. I wonder what they would do if I made reservations for dinner, but just ate the bread. Hmm....

I don't think planning your trips based on food is weird at all! I'm planning my first trip to Disneyland for next November, and I'm already stalking all the menus to decide where I want to eat, haha.

I am cracking up at your description of THE BREAD. I've heard people rave about it, but never quite to the degree that you just did! :lmao: I'll put that on my Disney Bucket List-try bread at Kona.

Please excuse me while I wipe the drool off my computer. I love love LOVE Kona!! I'm so glad you like the bread too!! I actually have a recipe from one of my WDW cookbooks for the bread and the macadamia nut butter!

Oh, you HAVE to post that! Pretty please? :cutie:popcorn::

Love your photos! And the description of your love affair with the bread had me laughing out loud. My BF asked me what was funny, so I read it to him, and he said, "I think we should definitely go there." He's a HUGE foodie, and he was captivated by the way you described it. If it weren't for the food, I don't think I could get him to go to Disney with me at all! :rotfl:

I am loving your photos! It's grey and a little chilly here, so your sunny pictures are cheering me up! :)
The ones you took of everyone jumping in are cool too!
I've never been to Kona, but all this talk about bread! oy vey! I think I must try it out know and I am a butter lover, (I actually got the nickname butters at my old job cause I love it soooo much ) and have never heard of macademia butter, must try it now!!!!

Awh hello there little hopper. Quite photogenic there aren't we?

Monorail!!!! Sigh...there are no words!

Don't you just love how I book all of my trips based on food? I do
.
Why yes...yes I do :goodvibes

Ahhh your passion for the bread is amazing. I want to be there now ....eating.

THE BREAD looks so good!
I really need your monorail shirt. I have that as my text message tone on my phone.
