Chapter 16: CAN YOU TAKE THE HEAT?!
August 21st, 2011
After Test Track, we went into Mouse Gear. It was getting EXTREMELY hot outside. Like, unbearably hot. So, we looked at the merchandise while we enjoyed the wonderful air conditioning.
My favorite fountain. ♥
We decided that it would be a good time to go to lunch! So, we headed over to The Land (YES, THE GOOD SMELLING PAVILION!) and went to Sunshine Seasons!
I thoroughly analyzed the stations, and then decided to get the Mongolian Beef with Lo Mein Noodles and Mixed Vegetables.
YUM! It was really good. The dish had a kick to it, which I really liked. It wasn't overbearingly spicy, it was just right! The Lo Mein was good, but it wasn't nearly as good as Yak and Yeti's. (Which is #1 in my book. If Lo Mein is your thing, I recommend making an ADR there asap!) However, it was Disney food so I really can't complain.
For dessert, I got Chocolate Mousse Cake.
HOLY COW that was good. It was everything I had hoped for.
Isn't it just the best feeling in the world when you FINALLY get to eat the food that you've been admiring pictures of for months? Yeah, that's how I felt at that moment.
Also, I have come to the conclusion that Disney LOVES to serve anything with Chocolate Mousse. That's like one of the staple Disney World foods. But hey, it's good. I'm just saying. It's kind of funny. Everywhere you look: CHOCOLATE MOUSSE!
Anyways, the cake was great. It wasn't dry at all, and the mousse was cold and tasted great with the cake part. AHHH yum. I want some now.
Nat got the Sweet and Sour Chicken with Lo Mein Noodles and Broccoli.
She enjoyed that as well! I'm sure she gobbled it up in about 2 seconds... aka it was great.
She also got Chocolate Mousse cake for dessert. (Great choice, great choice.)
Yes, it deserves to be pictured twice.
Sarah got the Reuben Panini and a S'mores Dessert.
Sarah is a picky eater, so she wasn't a huge fan of the sauerkraut that was on the sandwich. But she ate a good amount of it, even though she didn't finish it.
That dessert also looked really delicious. Ahh Sunshine Seasons has such great desserts!! I had a bite of it, and it seemed pretty heavy to me.. But I don't know if that was because I had just finished eating or not. The important thing is that Sarah enjoyed it.
And here is Kristen's STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE.
The only problem with Sunshine Seasons is that the Strawberry Shortcake AND Chocolate Mousse Cake are dessert options here. How the heck are you supposed to decide between those two, as well as resist temptation from all of the other delicious looking desserts!? It's really just not fair.
Here goes Kristen... about to eat her delectable shortcake....
MMMMMMMMMMM! So good.
- Cue the Singing Angels -
Once we finished that fantastic meal, we checked the wait times on Mobile Magic for characters. We saw that Snow White was coming out at 1:15, and then Aladdin and Jasmine were coming out around 1:45 or 2.
So, we decided to walk to Germany.
Ha. Ha.
WHY did we do that!? It was sweltering heat. SO FREAKING HOT. I honestly don't even know how we survived.
World Showcase in August in the Afternoon = VERY BAD IDEA!
STAY AWAY!
I'm warning you.
We
finally made it to Germany, after what had seemed like a trek through the dessert. We got in the line that already formed for Snow White. We had to stand in the sun. Great.
But I took a picture of some flowers. Here ya go:
We complimented these girls in front of us on all of their Disney accessories. We were like "Ahh that's so cute! We're obsessed with Disney, too!" And they were like "so obsessed that you work here?!" Haha... not yet. If only they knew how badly we want to work there. They apparently were cast members who were going to the park on their day off. I'm so gonna do that someday.
We finally got to the front of the line to meet Snow White. She really... just wasn't that great of a Snow White. Her hair looked weird or something in the back. I don't know. It was just sort of disappointing after walking in that blazing heat.
And the worst part.... SHE CLOSED HER EYES IN THE PICTURE! Of course.
Fail.
We said goodbye, and then reevaluated our plan. We were going to go meet Aladdin and Jasmine in Morocco... but there was NO WAY we were gonna make it all the way to Morocco in that heat.
Sue really wanted to keep pushing forward and see more of the World Showcase... and Kristen, Nat, Sarah, and I were just so done. We NEEDED to go swimming.
After a slightly lengthy discussion, we finally convinced Sue to let us go back to Coronado. Scott and her stayed behind and toured more of the world.
Hooray! We were heading back!
But oh wait. The heat was UNBEARABLE!
Literally, we had to stop in every gift shop we passed. The walk out never ended. It just kept getting hotter and hotter.
We decided to go get some school bread when we passed Norway! That made Kristen happy.
The cast member told us that if we ever go to the real Norway we should try school bread there! I can't even imagine how good that would be.
We kept walking and we had to stop in that one gift shop that's located on the International Gateway. We just plopped down on the floor. We sat near the pins, took the 4-pin packages, and fanned ourselves with them. I mean, it definitely worked! With the air conditioning, too, it was sort of revitalizing.
However, we couldn't stay there all day. We had to keep going!
After many more stops in the gift shops, we
FINALLY got to Future World!
We had to use up our Soarin' fastpasses before we left, which was great because then we could be in air conditioning. YAY.
We got in line and waited. We took some video, and just cooled down.
The walls were nice and cold.
Sadly, the school bread melted while we were on our journey.
But Kristen still loved it anyway.
- Cue the Singing Angels.... AGAIN! -
(But seriously, it looks like the heavens are shining down on her in this picture.)
We got in Row 2 for this ride.
PATRICK DOES THE DEER FACE! See?! I told you. We finally got picture evidence!
School bread on Soarin'!
It was Nat's first time on Soarin' and she thought it was so cool!! Sarah LOVES that ride so much. It was very enjoyable for all of us!
Once we got off of Soarin', we headed right to the exit. It was time to go SWIMMING!
We waited about 5-10 minutes for the bus, and we were soon on our way back to Coronado!
