TheNeverEndingPTR! Sept2010...no, November...WAIT! January?Ugh. maybe September 2011!

WAITING FOR JENNY's REPORT!!!!!

Ok, I lied. I followed her link to her blog and I'm reading all about her day today...but I want a live update! Now! (where's the child having a hissy fit smiley???) :rolleyes1

If you have no idea what I'm talking about...try to keep up, will you?!?!?!

I'm glad you read the blog - I'm working on update for your PTR (that sounds so funny to say that :)) but had to switch to Shutterfly because Photobucket is being waaaaaaay stupid. I'll update after dinner so I can include more pictures and more details (not everyone who reads my blog loves Disney - shocking, I know - so I try to give the bare minimum)!

Be back soon!

I know, it was funny to read you trying to explain your special fastpasses! I did the same thing with my trip report. I have a private board with about 10 friends and I had to explain everything in my posts but on the DIS I would just say fastpass and everyone knew what I was talking about or MK or EMH!

Can't wait for my pre-trip-report-live-trip-report from you! LOL. That would be our PTRLTR. :p

I clearly have too much time on my hands tonight.

Like your new first day. I really don't feel like my trip has truly begun until I see that castle.:thumbsup2

Yep, I wouldn't have been able to change our first full day if we didn't go to MK on our arrival night. This will be good b/c we can get some of that magic and then we get to go back in the middle of the trip and at the end as well! I was looking in my journal from our trip and I said that I MISSED Magic Kingdom after a few days. This should remedy that! :goodvibes

I would say don't miss the Maharajah trek but that is just my family--the bats and tigers are amazing!! Also, I did not see you mention the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail with the gorillas. Are you interested in either of these? I am also not sure if you are planning two days like Hope is at the moment.I really enjoyed POFQ on our first trip.

I agree--seeing the Castle for the first time just drives home we are Disney!! :goodvibes

Looks like you a couple of great days planned though I am sure all of your plans will be great. :thumbsup2

Savannah & I did Maharaja on our first trip and I wouldn't mind doing it again, it will depend on how I'm feeling and how Rey feels about it. We won't do Pangani because Rey will not, under any circumstances, see Gorilla's in captivity. I usually avoid them too, because they look so sad. I'm sure Disney takes care of them, I saw a pic of the new baby and the mother looked very happy holding it, but it's not high on my list of things to see at Disney.

Ooooh, you stayed at FOFQ?!?!?! Tell me all about it!

I understand about the gorillas :) I would love  to see the baby but I am not sure if the baby will be out for viewing.

POFQ: it is great! It is very small resort so that is one of the first things you will notice!! The pool area is very nice, quiet when were there. There is a cute water slide but I don't think you will be looking at that much. :rotfl: I could be wrong though :)

The rooms are a decent size to us but then again, we look at it as a hotel room for sleeping and getting ready--as long as the bed is comfortable we are normally happy. The beds are great. We like that the bathroom can be closed off with a privacy curtain and has two pedestal sinks with a shelf over for leaving the everyday items out if you would like.

The bus transportation I felt was always smooth there. We never had to wait long and the trips to the park always seemed very short. We love riding the boat to DTD.

The food court: I thought the food had a pretty good selection. The beignets are heavenly if you like those sorts of things. The salad selection was nice--I ate several salads while there and the sandwiches were always made fresh to order.

If there is something else you want information, please let me know!! We would definitely stay there again--just wanted to try another spot and really wanted a separate bed for Lilian.

... and I hope you meant it. Other readers, please know I'm just trying to do my part to keep Karen sane until her trip (and because she asked me to do this).

Karen, those pictures of the tea party were great! You are so creative, and I'm sure your kids appreciate that creativity as it helps with their education!

I'm glad you're getting your plans figured out!

Here are some highlights of the trip thus far:

Yesterday was pretty busy at the Magic Kingdom. We rode some rides and got out of there around 4:00. We rested until 6:30ish, when we headed back out for Wishes and dinner.

Here are some of my favorite fireworks shots from Wishes last night:

It was pretty crowded, but I'm glad we made the trip over before dinner!

Dinner was delicious! The table had been decorated for my birthday, and our server, Jose, gave me a complimentary piece of cake complete with a lit candle!

We headed to DHS today. It started off cloudy and was a bit chilly, but it was a great morning!
IMG_4962.jpg

DHS was empty!
IMG_4991.jpg

We saw a Streetmosphere performer giving us a great show of her skills as a dramatic actress:
IMG_5019.jpg

Her friend was quite enamored with her!
IMG_5018.jpg

We used our GAD vouchers today.
IMG_5012.jpg

I turned mine in at the Will Call window after bag check but before the turnstiles. It was an easy process, and they give you a piece of paper explaining how to use it. We ended up riding TSM 5 times (2 times in standby before 10, twice with the GAD FPs, and once with a regular FP with our APs). We rode RnRC twice (standby and regular FP) and ToT twice (standby). The lines were all super short! One note - Voyage of the Little Mermaid and Star Tours weren't giving out FPs. They are both Daisy attractions, so essentially our Daisy rides were moot with the GAD FP. I went to Guest Relations and asked (we had gotten a Star Tours FP thinking we'd at least get to skip the line even though they weren't giving out regular FPs that day; no doing. They told us we'd do the regular line.). So even redeeming them and giving them away wouldn't work. I went to Guest Relations and asked; they graciously gave me a replacement ToT set of FPs. I actually meant for them to give me 3 sets since we couldn't use any of the Daisy set, but oh well. They said they couldn't give me any for TSM, so we opted for ToT. It doesn't expire till the 15th, so we saved it for when we're there next this trip in case the lines are longer that day.

We had lunch at Toy Story - one of my favorites. It was such a leisurely morning. The temps were in the high 60s with a breeze, so we weren't hot, and the lines were next-to-nothing, so we had time to stop and watch the performers without me thinking the lines were growing unreasonably somewhere in the park. It was very refreshing!

We ran into a Streetmosphere actor doing some magic tricks on Hollywood Blvd. He selected me to participate at one point, and it was really funny! He was using a great New Joisey accent and asked me to select a magic word, so the first thing that popped out of my mouth was "please." He razzed me for that, asking if I was a teacher (I'm a counselor). He had another lady use my magic word and 4 coins in one row would split into two and two, three and one, etc. across the table from one another while his hands covered them. It was great! Then he had me hold my hand out "like you do when you're about to get a wad of cash". Again, he teased me at how quickly I put my hand out to hold the coins. Anyway, he put 3 coins in my hand while he held onto the 4th. Magically, the 4th coin appeared in my hand! I have NO IDEA how he did that, but it was fun. He said he even amazed himself at that trick! He said, "I bet YOU didn't even know you were this good, didja?" I responded, "No, but I'm not surprised." He got a kick out of that, as did the rest of the people standing there! I felt pretty good to be able to improv with him. He was great, so we got my picture taken with him after he wrapped it up.
IMG_5028.jpg

We came back to the room and rested. We headed back out to DTD around 6:15. Dinner was at Wolfgang Puck Express - very good and a nice change from typical counter service! We shopped at World of Disney and bought my niece a lovely Princess Tiana dress. I ran into someone who works at the college I work at while waiting in line at the info desk at WoD - such a small world! We also got some goodies at Goofy's Candy Company. Tomorrow we head to Epcot and are having dinner at Chef Mickey's! I'll be sure to post an update at some point. Tomorrow the Flower and Garden Festival opens, and I'm THRILLED to get a chance to take more flower shots. Even if it's chilly (expected to hit just 60), I'm hoping for sun for nice photos.

Well, that's it for me for tonight. I am going to a TR at some point (might not start it until we get home); I'm giving you the bare bones here, but I'd love to share more, so I'll do a TR for that. I'll post a link when I start it!

ETA: In case you care, here's the video from yesterday morning of me finding out where we were headed for this trip. The mic on my camera is pretty sensitive, so turn your sound down some before hitting play! I don't always sound that way (and boy is the double chin up-and-at-'em that morning! ;)), but this will show you my excitement! I promise - I am an adult and can maintain a modicum of decorum when needed):

Oh my gosh Jenny- you are making me wish my trip was tomorrow! It sounds like you are having a great time. :goodvibes What a great sister you have. :lovestruc

LOVELOVELOVE!!!! I loved the video too!!! What a wonderful sister! You reacted about like I would!

I wish it were warmer for you! It's making me nervous about our Anniversary trip in early Feb, but we'll bundle up if we have to! I love the pics of the Boardwalk, in the pic of your view, I can see just where I want our room to be at BWI!!! ;)

What was the refurb wall to the right of the pic of you guys in front of the castle?

Those street performers are a riot! Thank you for posting about the GAD FP's. Hmmm, I'm wondering if we will get much use out of them in Sept. when sometimes they have the FP machines off. Not ALL of the headliners do though, so whatever GAD passes we can get, it will make our trip that much less stressful!

Can't wait to hear about Epcot today!!!!! Have a magical day!!! :lovestruc

Nope, not using the slide much! In fact, Rey said that for that trip he would go anywhere, do anything, and stay at any resort I wanted as long as he doesn't have to go to a waterpark or swim!

Fine by me! I wasn't planning on a waterpark in Feb. or swimming either! Although I'm sure I'll take a hop into a hot tub, if I can! Not sure if he'll do that. It's a public pool thing for him. Sheesh...in the last day I have noted 2 of his "issues" and I'm starting to make him sound neurotic! He really isn't...well, not more than ME at least! :lmao:

I thought we could stay at POFQ for 2 nights and then go stay at Boardwalk for 2 nights in a preferred room...maybe even club level if we can get a 40% and swing the price. I know POFQ is just a mod, but it looks so pretty to me and I really like the theming.

Rey looked at all the resorts and loved the Contemporary. Don't get me wrong, I would love this style for my HOUSE, but at WDW I want the theme, does that make sense? I think he likes Contemorary b/c it looks like some of the Vegas hotels. Luckily for me, he wants to be near EPCOT, not MK, and, although I might go to MK for a half day on our trip and spend some time on Mainstreet, I wouldn't want to look out at the castle each time we were in the room...it would make me miss the kids too much!

Oh, that just turned into a hotel ramble! :p

WATCH OUT LOYAL READERS.......KAREN IS RAMBLING TODAY!!!! Boy, I wonder who that reminds ME of??? ME? Possibly? Nah....never happens!!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I have loyal readers?!?!? I thought I was just talking to myself here, that's what I normally do after I scare everyone off with my rambling!

Ah...it's 10:13am in Orlando right now and I'm imagining that Jenny is using her FP to get on Soarin right now or standing in front of the fountain or having a drink at cool club... :lovestruc

Oh man, this sounds like the conversations that go on around here lately. We're getting APs and taking two trips in the spring (probably. I want to go at Christmas but I don't think that will happen.) so if we get a 40 or 45% discount on deluxes with our AP, DH wants to stay at a deluxe. So we debate what's best. And then I think, if I get a 30% discount on values, I can stay all 4 nights for $200, instead of one night for $200, and I'm REALLY CHEAP, so I have to start at the beginning again.

So, I rambled a little myself to tell you I LOVE RAMBLES! Lol. :rotfl2:

I can tell I'm going to fit in here just fine. ;)

Boardwalk is a beautiful resort too--the Disney Masters as I refer to them as--that is their favorite resort and where they normally stay. POFQ--I will post some picks if you are interested. It really is a lovely resort.

Jenny--looks like you are having a magical vacation!! I hope it continues the rest of the time. :goodvibes

Hello - here I am!!! We're watching Nancy Grace and I'm updating on my day before hitting the hay!

The room location is great. It takes us about 2 minutes to walk from the Friendship Boat drop off to get to the lobby, and then it takes about 2 minutes from there. While it's not a direct shot of the Boardwalk, it's great. Last night, it was FREEEEEEEZING while we waited for a bus to DTD. My sister ran back quickly to get our coats and got back in about 8 minutes or so, so it's really conveniently located.

I think the screens are for maintenance happening on the buildings. They were on several buildings on Main Street USA and in Epcot in front of the Mexico pavilion.

I wouldn't worry about using the GAD FPs. I think it'll work, especially when you go when it's busier. Even if it's not busy, I'd stop and ask Guest Relations if you can get replacement FPs for the rides that don't have FP open. They seemed accommodating, and had I made my request clearer, I think they'd have obliged.

I have loyal readers?!?!? I thought I was just talking to myself here, that's what I normally do after I scare everyone off with my rambling!

I think we were in line for Soarin' for the second time, actually! Good call!

:goodvibes

Thanks! It's been great thus far!

Wonder if Jenny is enjoying her evening...sigh...

I am, and an update follows!

Oh my gosh Jenny- you are making me wish my trip was tomorrow! It sounds like you are having a great time. :goodvibes What a great sister you have. :lovestruc

We are having a great time, and my sister IS wonderful!

Today we went to Epcot. It was pretty cold, and they let us in around 8:50 I'd say. Good to know - when you stay at the Epcot area resorts and enter through the International Gateway, keep in mind you won't be at the front of the pack for Soarin'. That didn't matter, though; we got FPs, did the standby line in about 15 minutes, and then got a second set of FPs again that had a return time of 11:30. Pretty good! I think the cold kept away the crowds. We tried to do The Sum of All Thrills but the line was long and we weren't sure if we'd fit in the seats (tight squeeze). We decided to do Test Track, the wait was 30 minutes, and man was the outside part cold in the chilly air! Still fun, though. Next, we did Mission: Space (green). We hadn't ridden that in a long time and had some fun in line (anyone notice Gary Sinise says that that the astronaut simulation training is the most thrilling experience in their lives? What about ACTUAL space travel?). We stopped and got a hoodie I'd been seeing and wanted to buy and then moved on to do Spaceship Earth. We returned to Soarin' to use our second set of FPs and then moved to World Showcase.

By now it had warmed up, which was nice. We ate at Yorkshire County Fish Company and shared our table with a couple of other families. Then it was time for pictures around World Showcase. I enjoy taking these shots, and the sun cooperated today!

Here are some favorite shots of the Flower and Garden Festival as well as of our time at Epcot:

While in World Showcase in the Italy pavilion, we saw some taping going on. We decided it was the young Asian girl from Movie Surfers interviewing a young blonde teeny-bopper-ish guy. We, of course, took some pictures like the tourons we are! I think it's Jason Dolley, the guy who played "Pete Ivey" in the Disney Channel movie "Hatching Pete." I know, it's kind of silly that as a nearly-30-year-old woman I know what that movie is, but I do. ;) I think he's a cutie. He was talking about having theme days on set and it was interesting to see how tapings work. He would start a line, mess up, then start again without missing a beat. Guess I expected them to say "cut" or something!

We came back to the room on the Friendship Boats....

...and took a nap! We slept for about 2.5 hours, and it felt sooooooo good! We got up, Skyped with my niece, and headed out to dinner at Chef Mickey's.

The food was okay, nothing great, but I got another free desert (a cupcake this time).
DSCN0175.jpg

We got back to the room around 10:30. Tomorrow we head to Animal Kingdom and are trying to figure out a place for dinner (maybe Cape May Clam Bake or Captain's Grille, both just across the water and thus not a hassle transportation-wise).

Whohooo! Yay for updates!! :goodvibes

Love the F&G pics and your new hoodie! I like the black shirt you wore to dinner too, I've seen it before and may just have to get one myself if I can find one when we go! ;)

Ah...to WALK to Epcot. My dream! In fact, we drove to Boardwalk, had dinner there, and then walked over to International Gateway one night and that is when I realized how great it would be to stay there and be able to walk or take the boat over to WS! DHS too!

Have a wonderful time at AK today! Can't wait to hear about where you choose for dinner!
